Camila
"I can't believe your Dad had him inside your house"Josh says over the Skype call.
He and Mira called me right after I told them who was here earlier. I don't think he's gone yet because Elijah hadn't come calling me. I couldn't believe he was here either, all those things my father made me do just so he could make more money and be at the top.
He never once used Quinn for his work purposes, he always used me. And I couldn't do anything about it because he'd most likely kill me if I went against his words.
"I believe he would, after all he's done and is still doing, he will stop at nothing to get what he wants"Mira says skipping through her textbook pages.
"I'm kinda glad Elijah figured it out right away"Josh says causing Mira to nod her head in agreement.
"Don't get me wrong" Mira says then paused, "I don't entirely hate my cousin, it's his father I can't stand"she finished after a long pause.
Josh and I shared a look but didn't say anything. Mira was one tough cookie sometimes. We just let her have her moment whenever we could.
"It's been over six hours, hasn't he left yet?" Josh asks, I looked at my phone to see the time.
He was right, it's been over six hours. I really didn't mind being locked up in here. It's the thought that he was inside the house that made me uneasy, I know my father did it on purpose, inviting him here, they could've gone anywhere else but no, he like to cause me hurt as much as he could.
"I'm going to get some rest, I'll talk to you guys later okay"I say waving at them, they both waved at me and I hung up.
I rubbed my eyes trying to fight the sleep but eventually it won, I was knocked out before I even knew it.
"Cam?", I hear over and over, I was already in my deep sleep when I heard the knocking and the calling from outside my door.
Knowing that only Elijah called me Cam around here, I got up and walked to the door. I unlocked it and opened it, seeing up out there, standing with my 4:30 p.m meal.
I moved out of his way so he could walk in and he did, I closed the door behind and watched him walk to the bed and put the food down.
"You okay?" Elijah asks turning his attention to me.
I shrugged my shoulders and sat on the bed, I picked up one of the bacon and bit it. I was silent as I ate and he just waited for me to finish, I liked how he understood my silence rather than to beg me to talk to him all the time.
"Thank you"I say after finishing my meal and putting the empty plates on the bedside table.
"You're welcome, I know you're not going to tell me anything, but I saw the way he looked at you and how scared you were, you don't have to explain"he says in a low voice, my eyes looked up at him slowly.
"Did he ask about me?" I ask hugging a pillow to my body, such a weird question.
"He did"Elijah replied after a deep breath, "he asked if I was having fun, in bed"he finished unsure about saying the last two words.
I wanted to cry, my life wasn't the best. But I tried to stay positive and hope for a better way out. I always gave thanks for days ahead even before I saw them, it was a thing my grandfather taught me, even when life was knocking me down, I had to find some hope even when it looked far ahead, and hold onto it.
"Hey, it's okay"Elijah says stopping down to look up at me. His blue eyes boring into mine as they always do on many occasions.
"I know it is, I just can't help myself"I say shrugging my shoulders.
He looked at me in confusion but smiled, he nodded his head at me then got up and straightened his shoulders, standing tall.
"I'll let you get back to you sleep, I'll tell them you're not feeling well for dinner"he says picking up the empty plates in his hands.
I didn't reply and he turned and walked out. I was confused, not too long ago, I didn't want to be in his presence and he barely even showed any affection toward me, so what's changed now?.
My earphones were snatched away as I walked up the staircase, my eyes snapped to Quinn as she inspected them.
"These are the earphones I lost last week, you've had them this whole time!?" Quinn asks in a shrieking tone.
"No they're not, I've had those since last year"I say trying to snatch them away from her but she went ballistic.
Quinn ran down the staircase and I ran behind her. I wasn't going to let her steal another pair of earphones from me, she always does this. She knew she had no earphones, she just couldn't bare to see me with anything.
She ran into the study where Dad was with Mom and Judie, I stopped in my tracks as Quinn ran over to Dad and started to fabricate her story, with her fake tears and cries.
"You just can't bare to see your sister with anything, can you Camila?" Mom asks standing up and walking toward me.
"I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding"Judie says getting up also.
"I didn't...I wasn't-...", the words were stuck in my throat, knowing there was no way they'd believe my word against their precious Quinn's.
Mom walked to me as Dad tried to hush Quinn, she was just like him and his wife, they were all the same. I already knew what was gonna happen and yet I ran behind her. Thinking I could get my earphones back, they were the last ones I had and I've only had them for a month.
Quinn had stolen many of my things and claimed them as hers, I was so sick of her lies, but I knew I couldn't do anything because they'd always believe her.
"Those are mine, I bought them last month"I say trying to at least redeem myself.
"She's lying, I had these last week and then they went missing, she never had any!" Quinn shrieked hysterically.
My mother stood before and raised her hand to slap me, "What have I told you about lying and stealing from your sister?" she asked lending me her palm.
As I waited for the impact, it never came, Quinn's gasp filled the room enough for everyone. My eyes looked up slowly at my mother's raised arm, her wrist was held in place by someone.
My eyes fell on Elijah's hard face, he was staring at my mother with a bit of anger. He looked like he would hit her back if he could. Judie pulled me away from them just as Elijah put my mother's hand down to her side.
"I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding"Elijah says looking between me and Quinn, I refused to utter a word, Quinn opened her mouth to say something but closed it, she was still in shock.
"Since she's legally my wife, I will buy her a new pair, that way both girls have their own"Elijah says taking my hand in his.
He shot my mother one last glance before tugging me behind him, followed by Judie. Elijah's mother walked behind us and stopped by the staircase as we did, she let out a shaky breath.
"Eli, I've never seen you so serious before"Judie says with a light smile.
"I just don't like to see mistreatment, take care of Camila for me, until I get back"he replied kissing her on the forehead and releasing my hand.
"Sure, come dear"Judie says taking my hand and walking up the staircase.
I followed behind her with so much fear. Elijah just stopped my mother from hitting me, she will get her revenge, not now, but soon.
Camila "Thanks Josh, I'll email you the rest of the information"I say to the blonde boy staring at me through the my laptop. "Sure, we'll talk later"he says waving his hand with a smile. I smile then ended the Skype video call. I rubbed my eyes and winced at the pain in my right arm, I rolled up my sleeve and looked at the black and blue bruise that once was red, it covered almost half of arm. I had to wear hoodies and long sleeved shirts around the house. My mother indeed got her revenge, she couldn't wait until it was just us in the house. I wanted to go out but my father ordered me not to, I really knew better than to go against his orders.
Camila "You know that it is mandatory for us to attend this gala"Dad says to me, trying his best to not yell all because I told him didn't feel well to go. We go every year, if we miss one year I'm sure it won't be a problem. I don't have to go, if they want to then they can. But I really wasn't up for the challenge. "She says she's not feeling well Nick, at least let her sit this one out"Judie says rubbing my arm in comfort. I knew she wasn't like the rest of them, ever since she's been here, she's tried to be on my side as much as possible. I appreciate that, but my father would always get his way, no matter how hard we try and plea with him to let me stay home.
Camila The faint smell of alcohol lingered in the air as I sat inside the bar, awaiting Josh's return from the bathroom. I didn't plan on going out tonight, but he convinced me to the comfort of my own room, just so I could watch him flirt with girls all night. The night was hot enough already, and the last thing I really needed was a room full of drunk people rubbing up on each other. The last time I was out at a club was seven months ago, when I first found out that I would be married off to Elijah. It wasn't a planned night, but it did end fairly. Josh and Mira had to take me back to Josh's place just so I could sleep off everything and then they made sure to take me home in the morning. That was the first time I had ever let myself go lik
Camila "You've been staring at your phone since we sat down, is there something wrong?" Elijah asks picking up the glass of lemonade. "Sorry, I'm expecting a very important message, but I guess I have to be a little bit more patient"I say locking my phone and putting it inside my bag. Elijah leaned back into his chair and looked me over, I leaned back and matched his gaze. He convinced me to go to lunch with him, I refused to go right after breakfast was over but he persuaded me and so did Emilio, it was something in the way he started to care and wanted to spend time with me these days. "I'm sure it will come up soon, in the mean time, you never finished telling me about yourself"he says m
Elijah "You don't strike me as a very idiotic person"Camila says while bringing the fork up to her lips. Her eyes weighing into mine, she spoke with so much confidence and her sentences were always structured, no matter the sarcasm or the backlash. "Is that so?" I ask now intrigued in whatever she had to say. "Charming, I'd admit, but idiotic, no"she says shaking her head vigorously. After our lunch yesterday, I decided to take her out to dinner. There was something about the way she talked yesterday, Camila always spoke in smart syllables and smart sentences, but never had I witnessed her being coy.
CamilaThe sound of my phone ringing woke me up from my sleep. I stretched over to get it and felt someone stir behind me.I turned my head to look at the mysterious cunt and I have to cover my mouth as I gasped. Elijah was asleep next to me, the moonlight peaking through the drapes and displaying a very appealing look over his face and shirtless body.I tried to remember how he even got in here but I couldn't so I just forgot about it and answered my phone."Mira, it's two in the morning"I say rubbing my eyes and yawning."I know, but it couldn't wait!" Mira exclaimed and I hear her jumping up and down frantically.
Camila"Why are we in London?" Elijah asks as we stood waiting for Josh to come and pick us up."Funny how you wait until we landed and are now awaiting a car, to ask me why"I say laughing lightly. He looked at me with fearful eyes but soon blinked away all his words and thoughts."I see my mistake, but you practically demanded me to come with you, you made me call my pilot, on his day off"Elijah says in a tone that made me give a questionable look."I'll make it up to you"I shrugged just as the black limo pulled up to the curb. The driver exited the car to open the door and once we got inside
CamilaQuinn's voice was the first thing I heard once I stepped foot inside the house. She ran passed me and into the arms of Elijah."Home was so boring without you!" Quinn exclaimed throwing her arms around him and suffocating the poor man.Her skirt was short, no surprise and she wore a lace top, enough to have his skin in contact with hers, only problem, he was wearing a shirt. She will soon get what her pretty little heart desires, soon enough."I'm sure"Elijah replied pushing her off, not enough, because she still clung to him.Quinn's arms laced Elijah's bicep as she grinned up at him, her makeup was well for the occasion. I wonder how l
Present Day>>>> Elijah's P.O.V Emilio walked into my office with a bottle of champagne in his right hand and a donut in the left hand. He looked great except the scowl on his face and his ruffled hair, he wore casual black jeans and a light blue t-shirt, he's been walking around with a bottle of champagne for the last week. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Emilio asks taking a seat in one of the empty chairs at my desk. "You know why I'm looking at you like this Emilio" I answer, "you've been wallowing in your feelings for a week now, I'm waiting on you to tell me what's going on". He takes in a deep breath, puts the bottle to his head and just drinks. I watch him, there's nothing I can do to stop him from feeling however he's feeling, mainly because I have no idea what the problem even is. "I'm fighting the urge to tell you, so I'm drinking it away" he says with his eyes closed and n
The night before Camila's accident Elijah's P.O.V "For some reason I believe you two are up to something" Dad says striding over to my bed. I don't look up at him for a second, I've tried staying out of his way countless times, I don't feel the need anymore to please him. "If we were up to something, do you think I'd be here and not with my wife?" I ask. "Your wife!?" he shouts making me look up at him, "since when has she been your wife, this is all a game Elijah, I've told you many times not to mix business with pleasure" he snares. "She's been my wife since that day we had a big meaningless wedding, she's been my wife since we signed our lives over to each other, she's been my wife for months, so mixing business with pleasure was never an issue for me, her needs are my top priority now, it was your own fault for putting me in this mess" I replied getting up to face him. After he invited Broo
Joshua BassettI stared at the coffee brown casket as it sat above the six feet hole, my best friend's body supposedly laying inside, the cruelty this world brings was out of many questions I had.My emotionless being stared at the box, unaware what to feel in this exact moment, just thinking about losing Camila made me numb, she was one of the best things I had in my life, I never dreamed of standing by her casket, knowing there was nothing I could have done to stop her from driving into that plan.Camila knew about Nick's plan for months, she knew he would try to kill her after he got what he really wanted. He knew Camila and Elijah would eventually conspire against their families, it was no secret how the two felt about each other.Even if they had no feelings toward each other, Camila would have found a way to get Elijah on her side, she always wanted to see the best in everyone and would tried her best to help them. She
Xavier Clair "They already tried emptying her accounts" I tell my father over the chat. He scratched his grey bearded face and let out a sigh, he was stressed enough after Camila's accident and now to find out they tried to empty her bank accounts twice, there was no way they could do that no matter what or who they get help from. That was the best thing about being a Clair, is that nothing you have can be accessed easily, no matter what resources the person uses to take you down. "Everything is secure" he replies kind of relieved, "are you going to the funeral?" he asks with a smile. "Are you?" I ask tilting my head, he gave me a look before we both burst out l
Emilio's P.O.VMy mother looked between Zoe and I, reflecting my same feelings, I didn't want to be here as much as she did but we had work to do.Camila left us a lot to uncover and to unpack, it needed more than two people to do the job and my Mom just happened to be the extra hand I needed."What was she trying to gain from this?" Mom asks in a hushed tone."Camila has her ways Mom, I couldn't tell you" I answer, "but there's no way she actually wanted us to get back together" I say glancing at Zoe.I don't think Zoe really understands that it was all a set up, she hurt Camila, so Camila hurt her. Everyone was just stabbing each other in their backs, going against each other day by day. I've been working with Camila for a while now, over three years, we had to pretend we weren't acquainted. She was a great person and she knew how to get her way, she knew Nick had his plans and what they all planned to do with her. She was
Quinn's P.O.V"At least she won't be a bother anymore" Mom says over the phone. She just informed me about Camila's accident, it was no shock to me, Dad said he was going to get rid of her because she was a major setback in his future plans. It made me sick just how easily they would kill off their own blood just for money, I've been dealt with many cards and I kept my cool with ever single one, even when it was tearing me apart, I tried my best to at least believe it will be over soon."You of all people would be happy" I muttered with an eyeroll, "I didn't expect anything less or more" I tell her honestly. She has never been a mother figure to neither me nor Camila, for all the games we had play for them we could have at least gotten a little love.Holding onto someone's innocence can make them lose their minds, I'm glad Camila escaped them. She was always the one who called them out on their bull shit and wa
Camila's P.O.V"You want us to get a divorce?" I ask my father in disbelief, even though I expected it."I'm not asking you to, I'm telling you to get a divorce, it won't be so hard Camila" he replies twirling his cigar in between his fingers. He really came all the way over here just to tell me to get a divorce. All because he's signed with Marcell Clair now and doesn't need the Camorra contract, poor guy just keeps selling himself short for more riches. The Camorra contract could have been the best thing ever, but he's so greedy, I don't blame him for wanting more for himself."And what if I don't want to?" I challenged. His eyes looked at me, inspecting my face before he squinted at me. His usual way of saying I dare you, but I've gotten used to it way too much these days."You don't want to do that" he replies with a sly chuckle."Why not?" I ask trying to reel as much as I can fro
Camila's P.O.V"You look different" Devon comments as his eyes watched me from across the table."Is that so?" I ask glancing up at him but refusing to meet his eyes.Devon and Elijah had business to take care of for Clair, but I had to dragged into it because I know more about what they're doing than they did. I didn't want to get involved because ever since I sat down outside with them, the tension has been thick.Neither of them spoke unless it was necessary and it was killing me."Yes, there's definitely something different about you" Devon acknowledged sitting up to look at me better."When you find what it is please inform me" I chuckled looking up with a smile."You're smiling, there's definitely something different" he says putting his papers down and giving me his full attention."Maybe I'm happier" I shrugged glancing at Elijah, who was trying so hard not to intervene.Devon looked at Elijah bu
Camila's P.O.V"That's great news!" Clair beams over the video chat.I called him and told him about the pregnancy and he's apparently taking it well, he'd always been so protective of me, it was his job anyway."I used him" I remind and he let's out a laugh."Sweetheart, we've all used people in our time, trust me, he'll get over it" he chuckles.I look over at Elijah asleep on my bed, after we talked for three whole hours he decided he wanted to just sleep in here for the night. His mother was the one who convinced him to tell me everything that was going on.Judie knew and I knew, but she told him that if he really cared for me then he would tell me the truth and get it out of the way. I appreciate Elijah for coming to me straight away rather than wait until some appointed time where he asked me out on a date just to tell me about it."I hope so" I say looking at the screen again, capturing a smile fr
