Anaïs’s POV"Brian?” I screamed through the mind link as I entered the area where Brian was keeping watch. As I went a little further, crossing the perimeter of our camp, I saw Brian propped up against a tree, sitting cross legged with his back completely straight.Brian turned around to face me as I got closer to him, picking up my footsteps with his advanced werewolf hearing.“Luna” Brian said as he stood up and bowed slightly.“You can just call me Anaïs, I've told you that a million times now" I smiled at him and went up to stand beside him."Force of habit" he said with a small smile playing on his face as well."Go and get some rest. I'll take the next watch" I said. Brian nodded. He bowed, bid me a good night and walked back towards his tent. I settled down in the same spot where Brain was sitting previously. I looked up at the moon as I tried to open all my senses to any kind of movements around me. We were currently in Africa, near Sudan to be exact. The wolf pack here, Blue
"We're definitely lost" Adeline huffed out. I looked around us, we were surround by thick, deep forest that barely let any sunlight through. We have been walking north for the past 3 days, following the exact coordinates we were given by the council but we still haven't found Blue Eclipse."Are we still on the right path Jeremy?" I asked our driver/the only person who was good with directions out of the five of us."Yes Luna, I've checked the compass for the thousandth time now...we're headed in the right direction. The pack should be here...somewhere" Jeremy said. I took a quick look around at everybody, they were all covered in sweat and grime, red in the face and breathing hard."Let's take a break guys. Set up a pit, we'll eat and cool off and then continue" I said and let down the heavy ass bag I've been carrying on my back. Making them over-exert themselves would be useless. We need to be well rested, not breathless just in case we came across any threats."Brian, let's go and s
The guy leading me through the forest shoved me roughly for the nth time and I growled at him again."You don't have to act like savages just because you live in the middle of nowhere" I gritted out through my clenched teeth."You keep on moving and I wouldn't have to" The guy beside me said. I rolled my eyes at the comment"If you haven't noticed, my face is covered with a bag and I can't see anything while you guys lead us to goddess knows where through a dense forest" I hissed at him."Well we can't just reveal our pack's location, now can we?" I heard someone else say. I was about to say something back but I tripped over something.A small startled screech left my mouth but someone on my left grabbed me by my arm, which was tied behind me along with my other hand, and saved me."You can't reveal your pack's location but the least you can do is treat us with respect and not manhandle us!" I said, irritated that I almost fell and split my head open for the 100th time."I have never
We turned left from the avenue/street onto what looked like the entrance into a separated part of this mini city. I looked at the huge, metal...almost jail like gates. Guest quarters huh? "Fuck!" Brian screamed behind me. I whipped around to find him holding his hand which was glaring red and looked blistered. I walked up to him in two quick steps and assessed his hand with my own."Oh did I forget to tell you not to touch the gates? They're silver..." He said and chuckled. I wanted to glare at him but kept my cool. "Are you okay?" I asked Brian to which he shook his head no. I nodded and patted his shoulder and smiled at him."We just have to bear this until our investigation is complete" I mind linked the guys and they simultaneously nodded at me."Keep behind me, if you get lost don't blame me" Mr. Grumpson said which made me roll my eyes. Despite the protests from my ego, I signaled the guys to follow behind Grumpson. After we passed the jail gates, we were greeted by several ap
The apartment was nothing special. The main entrance led into what seemed like a living room with a couch at the very center and a television set right in front of it, a dining area behind the couch. As you further walked in you enter what looked like a corridor which led to four different rooms. There was a small kitchen at the far right of the dinning area and a door to the far left which led to a common bathroom. Two of the bedrooms had attached personal bathrooms as well. All five of us were currently sitting around the dinning table which was meant to seat 6 people. We had washed up and had some rest for around 2 hours. Alpha Paenoe just sent a moonchild to inform us that we should be ready in the next 3 hours for the meeting with the elders of their pack."We need a game plan" I said as I studied the map Jeremy had made of this city. It was of course incomplete, it only had the routes and landscapes Jeremy was able to notice on our way to the "guestrooms" but at least we had som
As I took a step in the same direction where Alpha Paenoe and Harrim had gone, I wasn't expecting much especially not appearing inside what looked like a grand sanctuary made completely out of gold."I was wondering whether you'd be brave enough to follow us or not" I whipped around at the sound of Alpha Paenoe who was standing next to a huge column with Harrim beside him."I would walk through fire if it meant saving my pack" I said in all seriousness. My words made Alpha Paenoe chuckle, he looked at me yet again with that curious gaze which I could not for the love of me decipher."You should step aside Luna, your companion would be stepping through and we don't want him to run you over" Alpha Paenoe said in a playful tone. I took quick steps and went to stand next to the two men."How does this exactly work? Is it something Harrim controls? or something entirely different?" I asked as I turned my head to look at Alpha Paenoe."It is not something Harrim controls. It is a passageway
Beyond the crazy magic corridor was heaven. That's the only word I can use to explain what I saw. As we exited the corridor, we stepped inside a huge hexagonal room, with five columns supporting the meeting point of each wall which seemed as if they were touching the sky but do you want to know the part that made me think this had to be heaven?Well the room glowed, I'm not joking! It literally glowed golden and blue and pink and every color you can think of! But this glow wasn't bulbs installed in the walls...oh no. It was like Ichor flowing through the veins of the Greek gods but in this case a golden fluid flowing through the walls...JUST LIKE THE CORRIDOR!"Wow...I- how?" The words left my mouth on their own. Amazement and surprise evident in my voice."Luna?" Jeremy asked, his voice full of questions and slight concern. I looked at him, probably with the look of astonishment plastered of my face."This is- how? how is this possible?" I asked Jeremy even though he, just like me, k
Jeremy and I were both escorted back to the guest apartment after I had puked my guts out upon finding out the truth about these hybrids. I could hear the rest of my team talking about what had gone down in the Quiche with Jeremy as they sat around the dining table out in the living room while I was back in my room trying to gather myself.Everything happened so fast, too fast. One moment a guy tells me I share blood with the moon goddess herself and then they tell me they literally let thousands of innocent wolves die just so they could save their own asses and get some sort of 'revenge' on werewolves."It sickens me" I said through my link with Isis who growled even at the mention of the heinous crime these hybrids have committed."We need to go back to the Wolven council" Isis said or screamed to be honest. But I could tell she wasn't being rational right now because any rational person would be able to see what would happen if we went to the Wolven council."We can't. If we tell t
"Stop fidgeting" My mother said and slapped my hands to stop me from twiddling my fingers."I'm nervous! Jesus woman cut me some slack" I said as I started biting my lips instead."Madam don't do that! You will ruin your lipstick!" One of the makeup artists reprimanded me this time."Jesus child! Can you not sit straight for a second" My mother said and smacked my shoulder this time."Why are you so nervous Anais? It's just a simple ceremony" Sam chirped up, trying to calm me down. I looked at her reflection in the mirror, she was sitting down on the bed in my old room in the pack house."I know...I- it's just nerves" I grumbled. I don't know what's wrong with me! I attended Callan's Alpha ceremony and was perfectly fine! I don't know why I'm so nervous about mine!"It's going to be okay Anais. You just need to get on that stage and do everything exactly like you were taught during the rehearsal ceremony." Sam said and I let out a heavy sigh."Yea I just have to do everything I did du
"Dad tell her to calm down" I said as I looked up at my troubled looking father who was already gazing down at me with concerned eyes.I was currently kneeling in front of our sofa, as my mother and father sat on it."Shut your mouth before I shut it for you" My mother said angrily."What were you thinking Ani? Trying to change into that weird monster! What if you ended up hurting poor Theodore? What if you ended up hurting yourself??!" My mother wailed."Mom I am a grown person! I had it under control! You saw it yourself!" I exclaimed. Why is she being like this??! Yes it was dangerous but I considered all of it before I decided to do it. We warned the pack members not to enter the training ground while I was there and Theodore volunteered to help me! I didn't force him!"Everyday you do something more dangerous and stupid!" My mother spat angrily. "And you Alpha! How can you let my daughter put herself in danger again!?" My mother turned to Callan, who still looked shook at what wa
"I'M GOING TO KILL CALLAN!" Theo screamed and I rolled my eyes."It's still not working Theodore" I said using his full name to tell him that I was just annoyed now...not angry."Well Luna you said you felt a weird energy take over you when Paenoe insulted Alpha so theoretically this should work" Theo said. I sighed and walked toward the little bench in the fighting arena where our water bottle were kept."Well it's definitely not working practically Theo" I grumbled. I wasn't annoyed with Theo...I was annoyed with myself. Why could I not channel these powers which I supposedly had??! Exactly what is wrong with me that I keep on bringing new problems into our lives."I'm sorry Luna" Theo said as he came upto me and settled down beside me."You should not be the one apologizing. You are stuck here with me instead of getting back to your work...I should be the one saying sorry Theo" I said and gave him a small smile."It's not bad at all Luna. Kind of exciting to be honest. This would b
I woke up from my sleep panting deeply and drenched in sweat."Anais" I heard my mate's voice and turned my head to look at the same worried expression I saw every morning since the day of the war which was exactly 3 week ago."I'm fine" I breathed out but clearly I wasn't fine. This has been going on for way too long and I could see that even Callan had stopped believing my 'I'm fine'."What did you see?" He asked gently...maybe he was trying not to set me off."It was the same...flashes of my fight with Paenoe" I said and sighed. I was getting tired now. Paenoe dying should've brought me peace but here I was still troubled and not being able to get back to normal life."I-I saw the moment when I ripped his head off...I grabbed his limp, almost unconscious body and bent down to wrap, what felt like my wolf jaw, around his neck" I slowly recalled the dream...I felt bile rise up my throat as for some reason I could almost taste his blood in my mouth."My fangs dug into his skin and the
The heat was going to kill me. I could feel it consume me and burn from within but I couldn't stop it. It was like someone had set me on fire and all I could do was scream in agony and pain. It was this feeling I felt at first, the only thing I could sense but soon came the darkness and the light figures. The sound of howling and claws digging into flesh. I had no idea what was going on but I could feel everything yet I didn't know why was I feeling all of this. Where was I? Was this a dream? Am I dead? I had no idea. I couldn't feel my body but only the pain inflicted on it and heat coming from within me. And then it would be gone only to return again. Callan's POV"HOLD HER DOWN!" I screamed at the doctors and nurses as I tried to keep my writhing mate under control. Just like all the other times, the fit died down soon. I panted as I settled back down on my seat next to the hospital bed. I dismissed all the doctors and nurses, who were covered in beads of sweat. No one had a
Callan's POVAnais told me to find Paenoe's office but I had no clue where that was. I'd seen the map her team made but I couldn't spot any buildings they described which is why I just aimlessly ran around for hours.I was running down an avenue when a hybrid jumped on me from my left. It took me a minute to finish her off. I was annoyed, these creatures kept me from my search for my mate.Once I had finished the hybrid that attacked me, I changed into my human form to catch my breath. I looked around but everything was still strange to me.I ran down the avenue in my human form, breathing heavily, covered with blood and sweat. Where was she??But then her scent hit me all of a sudden. A wave of relief washed over me like pouring rain and without wasting another moment I ran towards it. I turned right from the avenue, expecting to find my battered mate from her fight with Kajokh but the scene in front of me rendered me motionless.I couldn't believe what I was looking at. Anais, half
"NOOOOOOOO" I grolwed. They were here! They were here unprepared! they're rushed into a war against hybrids because of me!I instinctively ran back into the main pack lands. Loud siren went of and I heard the sounds of fighting...the screaming and the growling."LUNA!" I heard Melina call out but nothing could stop me now. They have to go back! They'll all die!I jumped and shifted mid-air. I didn't even need to run a mile to come across wolves and hybrids fighting each other."GO BACK!! NO! GO BACK! RUN" I screamed through my mindlink but I couldn't reach the fighter in front of me. They all had their walls up. I ran through wolves and hybrids tearing each other apart. In a matter of second, everything had turned into a mess. There were bodies of...mainly werewolves lying on the ground. Pieces of shattered glass, broken doors and blood everywhere. The once deserted place that I just walked out of had transfomed into a battlefield."ANAIS" I heard Callan call out to me through the lin
I looked around at what appeared to be a hut but was made out of bricks and concrete. It was small, with nothing but a simple futon in one corner and a table in the very middle with two plastic water bottles on it.I quickly leapt towards the water, goddess knows how parched I an right now. I broke the seal and smelled the water before taking a swig. When I was sure nobody had tampered with it, I downed the whole thing in one go.I went to the futon and inspected it. Wasn't anything special...the frame was made out of simple wood but the bedding looked worn out.I went up to the door and gently pulled it by the handles towards me. It was locked...so bad that I couldn't even giggle it if I wanted to. I felt along the wall to the left of the door...feeling for anything, any sort of pipping or fitting in the walls I could use as a weapon. But seeing as there is no bathroom in here, I wouldn't find any plumbing. There were not light bulbs in here...just very small holes at the very top of
Anais's POVThey left me alone...for what felt like an eternity. I was trying to keep myself...sane.Every now and then I'll see something move in the darkness...but I knew that was in my head. So every time that happened I would have to tell myself that it was my imagination. It wasn't so hard to figure out what the brothers were trying to do, keeping me here like this. They wanted me to go insane...not totally but enough so I wouldn't fight Paenoe when he marked and mated me and then finally drained me of my blood. And I was sure their plan was working because ever so often I heard a faint whisper in the darkness. It was becoming harder to tell myself that it was my imagination. I wanted that whisper to be true...I was scared and I didn't want to alone. I slapped myself again...hard. So hard that it made my ears ring."Anais..." Isis said through the mind link, worried."We have to protect our senses Isis...the pain helps. Keep talking to me, keep howling and pawing and jumping. Do
