Mia stood in the middle of the living room, her heart pounding. Aiden, Liam, Zander, and Matthew surrounded her, their expressions a mixture of concern and frustration. She had expected them to be angry, but the intensity of their emotions left her speechless. The air between them felt thick, every second stretching painfully.

“Mia,” Aiden finally spoke, his voice firm but calm, “why did you leave without telling us?”

“I needed space,” Mia replied, trying to steady her voice. “I needed time to think.”

“Think about what?” Zander demanded, stepping closer. His tone was sharper, more direct, and his piercing gaze made her feel exposed.

Liam placed a hand on Zander’s shoulder, as if to calm him. “Mia, we’re not trying to control you. We just want to understand why you felt the need to run away.”

Mia looked down, unable to meet their eyes. How could she explain the storm of emotions inside her? She couldn’t tell them about the way her heart raced whenever they were near, or how their touch

The soft rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze filled the air, but his heart was pounding too loudly to let him focus on the serene surroundings. She was coming. Mia. Seeing her after so long, he couldn’t hold it back anymore. And now, she had agreed to meet him here, alone. He told himself it meant something that she cared enough to hear him out. When he finally spotted her approaching, David’s breath caught in his throat. Mia always had this effortless glow about her. David stood in the middle of Emma’s living room, his hands balled into fists at his sides. The tension in the air was thick, almost suffocating. Across from him, Mia’s four step brothers Aiden, Liam, Zander, and Matthew stood in a line, their imposing figures casting long shadows against the dimly lit walls."So, you’re the guy," Aiden said, his voice calm but laced with an edge that hinted at his annoyance. His piercing gaze drilled into David, who refused to look away.David squared his shoulders, refusing to be intimidated. "Yes, I’m the guy. The one who cares about Mia enough to stand here and talk to you, even though you’ve clearly decided you don’t like me."Zander let out a low chuckle, stepping forward with a smirk. "You think you care about her? You barely know her. We’ve been protecting her . Where were you then?"David’s jaw tightened, but he held his ground. Mia woke up in the middle of the night, gasping for air. The dream was still vivid in her mind, her father’s face, his kind yet stern voice. He had looked at her with both love and sadness, saying, “You must do what’s right, Mia. Remember who you are.” His words lingered in her heart, heavy like a stone. She sat on the edge of her bed, staring into the darkness, her chest tight with guilt and confusion. She couldn’t keep living like this feeling torn between what her heart wanted and what her conscience screamed was wrong. Her feelings for her stepbrothers weren’t something she had planned or wanted, yet they consumed her, leaving her feeling lost. And then there was her mother, who had finally found happiness with Victor. Could Mia risk destroying that happiness?“I need to leave,” Mia whispered to herself, the words barely audible. Her voice cracked as tears slid down her cheeks. She wiped them quickly, determined to hold herself together. Grabbing a small bag, she started packing

Mia’s eyes fluttered open in the middle of the night, her chest rising and falling in shallow breaths. The moonlight spilled into her room, illuminating the scattered thoughts in her mind. She pressed a hand against her heart, trying to calm the erratic beats that echoed through her body. Sleep was impossible tonight. Her emotions were too tangled, her feelings toward the brothers too confusing to sort out.She sat up, hugging her knees, and stared out of the window. The cool night air seeped through the cracks, whispering against her skin. It reminded her of something she had tried to suppress a conversation she had with her mother, Sarah, just before moving into Victor’s estate. The memory came rushing back, vivid and sharp, as if it had happened just yesterday.“Mia, sweetheart, sit down,” Sarah had said, her voice unusually serious. Mia had paused mid-step, turning to face her mother. Sarah’s expression wasn’t the warm, loving one she was used to. Instead, it was filled with worry

Mia felt like an outsider in her own life. Every step she took in the Hawthorne estate felt heavy, as though the weight of four pairs of eyes was constantly on her. The brothers weren’t making things any easier. Their presence was suffocating yet magnetic, drawing her in despite the overwhelming tension simmering between them.Aiden was the most obvious about it, his protective nature showing in the way he hovered around her, always finding excuses to stay close. Whether it was offering her a glass of water when she didn’t ask or positioning himself in the room like a silent guardian, his actions spoke louder than words. Mia appreciated his kindness, but his watchful gaze made her feel like a fragile doll under constant surveillance.“Do you always have to keep such a close eye on me?” she finally asked one evening, unable to keep the question to herself anymore.Aiden looked at her, his eyes softening. “I just want to make sure you’re okay, Mia.”“I’m fine,” she insisted, though her

It was past midnight, and the mansion was eerily quiet. Mia lay awake in her room, staring at the ceiling, unable to shake off the turmoil in her mind. The events of the past days played over and over in her head the tension, the warnings, and the undeniable pull she felt toward her stepbrothers, especially Aiden. Mia woke up with a start, her breathing shallow and uneven. The room was silent, except for the distant hum of the house, but her mind was anything but calm. Her skin felt too tight, and the strange, throbbing sensation deep inside her was more intense than ever before. It had been growing over the past few days, this feeling. The pull of her wolf side, the primal force she could no longer ignore. It was there, in her blood, in the way her senses heightened and her heart raced at the slightest hint of danger or... desire. She dragged herself out of bed, trying to calm her nerves. The mirror reflected the same face she’d known all her life: pale skin, dark hair, soft, fragile features but her eyes. Her eyes were different now. Glowing. Not just the typical gleam, but an unmistakable intensity, like something wild was waking inside her."Mia," she whispered to herself, shaking her head. "Get it together."She didn’t want to accept it.
