Caged ( Survival ) chapter Four.

Mia's POV

We went back to class for the third period, by the time we got there the economics teacher was already in class.

" Good Morning, Ma " Clover and I greeted in unison.

" Good Morning girls, Where are you coming from? " She inquired.

" We were in the School library. " I replied.

" Oh! You can go to your Seats, now. "

" Okay, Ma. " We replied as we walked towards our Seat and Sat.

" Let's Start to begin the lesson, now Class. "

" Alright, Ma. "

" The topic for today is inflation, who can define the term, Inflation? , Anyone? " She Asked observing our faces.

When I realized that no one was raising his or her hand I raised mine.

" Yes, Mia? "

" Inflation can be defined as the continuous increase in the Price level of goods and services. " I replied, standing up.

" Brilliant! Good job Mia, Class let's give Mia a round of Applause. " She Instructed and immediately she ended her sentence a roar of clap followed.

" You can have your Seat now, Mia. " She told me when the Clap died down.

" Thank you, Ma. " I replied Sitting down.

" As earlier defined by Mia, Inflation can be defined as the Continuous/ Persistent increase/ rise in the general Price level of goods and services. " 

" We have four main types of inflation, Who can list them, Anyone? " 

" I can. " Sasha Declared Raising her hands proudly.

" Show off. " Clover who was beside me, Scoffed.

" Clover. " I warned Softly.

" Whatever " she replied Shrugging.

" Yes, Sasha? "

" The types of Inflation we have are inflation Caused by demand, inflation, Creeping Inflation, and galloping inflation. " She replied Proudly.

" Hahahaha " The Whole Class burst into Uncomfortable laughter, Clover who was beside me was also laughing and as laughter was contagious I had to try my very best not to Be contacted by their laughter.

" Silence, Now! " Miss lyca commanded and immediately the class turned silent.

Turning to Sasha who was now pale from embarrassment.

" You tried, but You didn't get it all right, Sasha. " Miss Lyca said.

" How is it possible that I am Wrong? , I Only Said what I read in the Textbook. " Sasha replied in Self defense.

" Oh! Which textbook? " 

" This, " Sasha said bringing out a new Essential Economics Textbook from under the desk she shared with her friends.

" Oh! , Can you now read out loud to the class The types of Inflation that were listed out there? Miss lyca asked Sasha.

" Of course Ma... " Sasha Suddenly paused When She rechecked the textbook and realized that What she Said to the class was a little different from what was written in the textbook.

" What's Wrong, Sasha? , Why did you pause? " Miss Lyca asked.

" I... " Sasha Hesitated a little when she realized that if she continued her sentence she would be Severely embarrassed.

" Speak! " Miss Lyca commanded.

" I think I missed up the types of Inflation. " She replied.

" Oh! How? " Miss Lyca Curiously asked.

" Well... " 

" She was in a haste to show off and as a result, she ended up saying the wrong thing. " Clover Suddenly replied interrupting Sasha's Sentence.

" Clover, " I Warned again and Clover Made an Okay Sign.

" Is that True, Sasha? " Miss Lyca asked.

" No...yes. " Sasha Stammered.

" Anyways, you can have your Seat but let today be the last time you will do something like this, I didn't ask you to Say out What's in the textbook, I only asked you to tell me what's already in your Memory

" Miss Lyca explained.

" Oh! But Ma, Mia also copied what she said from the textbook! " Sasha's Friend replied.

" I know that but she did put it in her own words, which indicates that she Understood what she Said, do you? " Miss Lyca inquired.

" I... " Sasha Stuttered again.

" Anyways, let's let bygones be bygones and Continue with the lesson. " 

" Okay, Ma. " We replied.

" The types of Inflation are Demand- inflation, Cost-push inflation, Hyperinflation and, Persistent or creeping Inflation. " She said.

" But, I mentioned Creeping Inflation. " Sasha Suddenly Said Attracting the Attention of the Economics Teacher.

" I know, but do you know the meaning of Creeping Inflation? " She asked, raising an eyebrow.

" I... " Sasha Wanted to defend herself but stopped when she realized that there was nothing to say.

" Sit down and Stop interrupting my Class, got it? " Miss Lyca asked Seriously.

" Yes, Ma. " Sasha Replied.

" Good! " Miss Lyca affirmed as she faced the class and Continued with the lesson.

The lesson lasted for An hour before the Bell for break time went off and the Economics Teacher packed her Instructional materials and left the class.

As both Clover and I walked to the School Canteen Located downstairs, I suddenly Stopped at a not-so-crowded area attracting Clover's Attention as she looked at me confusedly.

" Why did you Suddenly Stop, Mia? " She inquired to which I sighed.

" What's Wrong? " She asked, clearly Concerned.

" Nothing much, I was just ruminating on what happened earlier in class. "

" Oh! Why? " She asked.

" You Weren't Supposed to Oppose and Make Fun of Sasha Openly. " I Said.

" Why? , She deserved it as she started it first. " Clover defended.

" Really? Just because she started it first doesn't mean that you should do the Same. " I Advised.

" But I didn't do anything wrong to her, Mia. " 

" I know and that's why I am not annoyed I am just trying to tell you that we don't have to always retaliate when people do us wrong, if we always retaliate then there wouldn't be a difference between us and Them, Clover. " I Advised.

" But... "

" No buts, Clover, the fact that we call ourselves Christians Simply means that We've got to be different between us and others and others must Be able to See the light in us. "

" You are Right Mia, I was wrong, I apologize. " Clover Replied a little downcast.

" You don't have to be like this, Clover, I was only Pointing out your Mistake, it's alright to make a mistake as long as you come to accept your Mistake. " I said and She finally Nodded.

" Let's go get our Snacks. " I said and She nodded.

We bought Some Sausage Rolls and Two bottles of Milk Tea, Our Usual.

As we were walking back to our class, Sasha and Her Friends Suddenly Appeared from nowhere blocking our Way on the Stairs.

" What is it this time, Sasha? " I inquired.

" Oh! What do you think it is, Miss, know it all? " She replied Mockingly.

" Well, I don't know what type of grudge you and your friends have against me, Sasha but I just want you guys to realize that no human on Earth can claim to know it all as that's impossible, You guys Think of me as All Smart and intelligent which might probably be true but do you know what I to become that? , Do you know what self-discipline means? , The Ability to Study when your Mates are Sleeping or browsing through the Net, Do you know the courage it takes to be able to Study when all the muscles in your body Aches? , Do you know how it feels to Solve past Questions Throughout midnight just to pass a test or an Exam? , No right? Then I suggest that you keep your mouth Shut! " I replied rendering them speechless.

" Excuse us! " Clover Instructed and they immediately made space for us to pass through.

We Got to class and were stunned to find our class teacher There.

" We are dead meat, Mia! " Clover Whispered in a frightened tone, I couldn't blame her for being Frightened as anyone will be too if they were in our shoes.

" Come in, Clover, Mia " our Class teacher instructed and we complied immediately.

" What happened between you girls and the English Teacher? , What crime did you girls commit? " She asked in a Serious Tone. 

" We didn't... "

"We broke one of the Class Rules. " I replied, interrupting Clover.

" oh! And Which Rule did you guys break? If I may ask. "

" Well, we were discussing while the lesson was still on. " I replied truthfully.

" I didn't expect this from you, Mia, I am Completely disappointed in you. " She replied In a Sad Tone.

" Am Sorry, Ma. " 

" You should be, Anyways, from now onwards till the end of next week, both you and Clover Will be our New class Cleaners, that will be your Punishment, failure to do this will lead to Two weeks Suspension, is that understood? " 

" Yes Ma "

" Good, you Can go back to your seats now and don't forget that your Punishment starts today's Afternoon after school. " She said.

" Okay, Ma. " Clover and I replied as we walked back to our Seats with our heads hanging downwards.
