Where is Claire?

Callan paced the study room as he ran his hand through his jet black hair. Their mate should have been here by now, and it was evening already and there was still no sign of her. His mind went frantic as different thoughts swarmed his head. Was she attacked on her way here? Did she get lost or something? He knew they should have brought her by themselves, and now he was regretting not doing so. 

“Calm down, will you?” Cameron said from across the room. “She will probably be here anytime soon.” Cameron tried to reassure, but Callan could still hear the worry in his tone. He was also worried about their mate. 

His brother rarely showed any sort of affection towards anyone but he could tell that Cameron already cared about their little mate. It's impossible not to immediately grow attached to your soul mate. 

“You know I can't calm down until I know she's safe. What if something happened on her way here? Fuck.” He muttered the last words under his breath. 

Cameron thought about the possibility of his words and immediately stood up from the couch. “I think we should go search for her.” Callan could hear the slight panic in his voice even though he tried to hide it. “The pack's border is not safe right now because of rogues and vampires. We should have thought about this before allowing her to come here on her own.” Cameron said as he ran his hand through his long dark brown curls. 

Callan nodded his head in agreement. “Yes, we should. I'll go get Xavier so we can go together.” 

Just as Callan was about to head to the door, there was a knock at the door. “Who is it?” Cameron growled, he hated being interrupted.

Callan opened the door and Xavier entered and rose an eyebrow towards Cameron. “When are you never grumpy?” Cameron growled at their best friend and beta. Xavier's expression immediately grew serious, not because he was scared but because what he came for was important. “There's a blonde girl outside. She claims she's your mate's best friend. And why the hell didn't you tell me you found your mate?” He asked accusingly. 

They didn't have the time to answer Xavier's question as they rushed out the study. Something was wrong, they could sense it. And Claire's best friend coming here, instead of Claire, made their assumptions real. 

They rushed out and met the same girl from the club, she looked different now. Her eyes were slightly red and stained with tears. Their minds immediately thought the worst as they walked towards her. 

“What's wrong? Where is Claire?” Cameron's deep voice asked. Ashley bowed her head in respect to the two Alphas. Even if they weren't her Alpha, she was too terrified of making a mistake and ended up being killed. 

Coming here was the stupidest thing she could have ever done, but she couldn't watch her best friend being punished for something she didn't do. So, she sneaked out of the pack in the middle of the night, endangering her life, just so she could get Claire out of there. Jake had disagreed with her decision, but she went anyway. She loved Jake so much but she also loves her best friend. 

Her heart thumped loudly as she tried to calm her erratic breathing but the fear of being in their presence overwhelmed her. After all the horrible rumors she heard about them… 

Cameron and Callan grew irritated by her lack of response. “Tell me what the fuck is going on right now.” Callan growled, watching in satisfaction as she trembled at his tone. 

“I, uhm, A-alpha Darius locked her up in the pack's cell. H-he didn't believe that she met her mates and thought she was looking for an excuse to leave the pack.”

“He did what?!” They both growled at the same time making her flinch away in fear. 

“He dared to touch our mate.” Callan said, forming his hands into fists, he imagined crushing Darius' head with it. “He is going to pay dearly if I find out that he touched a strand of hair on her head.” The veins on his arm threatened to pop with how tight his fists were. 

Xavier watched the interaction from behind them, he hadn't met his best friends mate yet, but he knew that they were already attached to her, making them grow very protective of her. He didn't know how it was possible that his Alphas had one mate, but he had been there when Callan and Cameron had wished for only one mate, they'd been friends since childhood. Alpha Darius had made a big mistake locking up their mate for no goddamn reason. 

He should have never crossed paths with the twin Alphas, the same men that haunted people's nightmares. He was truly going to regret causing any sort of harm to Claire, their future Luna. 

Cameron and Callan's wolf fought to the surface, Xavier knew he had to do something because they weren't thinking rationally right now. And so, he walked to them and clasped their backs as he shook his head firmly. 

“We will go get her, but not like this. You are not thinking clearly right now Alpha. We need to assemble our warriors to go on this fight. He will pay dearly for touching our luna.” They gritted their teeth in anger knowing Xavier was right. Both of them could easily get rid of Alpha Darius, but they knew it wouldn't be a wise choice to go alone. 

“Fine. Go assemble our strongest warriors. Tell them to prepare themselves because this isn't an ordinary fight. We will leave in an hour.”

They looked at a trembling Ashley, tears were streaming down her face. They couldn't leave her alone, it was too dangerous out there. She was their mate's best friend, after all, she wouldn't take it well if she found out that they had endangered her friend. Xavier took her inside the pack house, she would wait there until we were ready to go to the night walker pack. 

An hour later, Cameron, Callan, Xavier, Ashley and the rest of the warriors shifted into their wolf form and ran into the forest, to their little mate's pack.
