Chapter Fifty-three

Five years later

[Nivera’s POV]

“Luca, where are you now?” I asked, careful not to shout in order not to disturb the people around.

I reasoned he was probably playing hide-and-seek again with me, but without telling me, and I had agreed with Lucien to not make use of my abilities to find him anytime something like that happened. We were trying to be normal people, after all.

“I’m sorry, have you seen my son? He has curly brown hair and eyes with chubby cheeks,” I said to an old lady who was struggling with pulling her overloaded trolley.

“Do you know how many people’s kids match that description? Please, be on your way and don’t bother me,” she said, dismissively.

“Well, I tried my best, Lucien,” I said in a whisper, then sniffed the air to catch Luca’s scent, and as soon as I caught a whiff of it, I immediately followed the scent.
