Chapter 12

4 hours later at the hospital…

Roselle nervously stared at the female doctor who was currently reading her test results. She was feeling dizzy and sleepy at the same time yet she was curious about what was wrong with her body as this had never occurred to her before. 

"Miss Ventura, according to your test results you are perfectly fine." The female doctor remarked with a professional smile but she took her pen and jotted something on a piece of paper.

"Doc, seryoso po ba kayo?" Nag-aalangan na tanong ng dalaga.

"Yes!" The doctor promptly replied.

"Then bakit po ako nahihilo at nagsusuka this morning, Doc?" Tanong niya.

"You're 4 weeks pregnant, Miss Ventura." The doctor smiled at her while handling the piece of paper. "Buy this prescription. You have to take these vitamins regularly to make sure the baby will grow healthy. In the next couple of months, be present in the obstetrician department for your prenatal check ups."

Roselle froze but eventually nodded. The word 'pregnant' successfully made her shocked and speechless. She failed to gather her thoughts and just like a humanoid, she took the papers that were handed to her unconsciously and walked out from the examination room in a complete daze.

Andrea stood up from her seat and sauntered towards her friend. "What did the doctor say?" She queried anxiously. She looked worried upon seeing her friend's pale face.

'I'm 4 weeks pregnant…' Roselle didn't know how to feel with the doctor's sudden revelation. She has mixed feelings brewing inside her heart at the moment and she doesn't know whom she should share the news with. It was like she had been hit by a speeding tornado which completely turned her entire life upside down.

"Roselle! Roselle!" Andrea began to shake her off after receiving her silence for a long time. She eyed her friend suspiciously and asked. "Are you okay? Was your illness really that worse? Mamamatay ka na ba? Ilang buwan na lang ba ang taning ng buhay mo ha?" Then she began to sniff in an exaggerated manner.

Namulat ang dalaga sa mga narinig mula sa kaibigan. She shot Andrea a death glare which successfully shut the latter up and said, "Stop asking nonsense questions here, Andy. Let's go home. I'll tell you everything." She snapped.

Half an hour later…

"Damn it! How could you be so careless huh?" Andrea sounds really pissed at her friend. Tinignan nito ang kaibigan ng masam at nagtanong. "Sino ang ama niyan? You never tell me that you hooked up with someone."

"Oliver Mitchell." Roselle choked on her words helplessly. 

His name rolled out from her tongue leaving a bitter taste in her heart. Since she left his home, she never heard any news from him. He didn't call again to check on her but who was she fooling with? She clearly understands why.

"That bastard? Seriously?" Andrea sounds even more pissed while walking back and forth in front of her helpless friend. "Roselle naman! Haven't I warned you to watch out? That guy runs the OLYMPUS which was really worth cursing for. The asshole is a total jerk!" She lashed out.

"Can you please sit down, Andy?" Roselle massages her temples. "You made me feel dizzy." She groaned.

"What is your plan?" The latter stared at her friend with a complicated look in her eyes. "Are you gonna raise the baby or…—"

"I'll raise the baby." Roselle interrupted her best friend in a snap. "Even if he doesn't want it because this is mine. My own blood and flesh and I can't bear killing her or him." She sounds firm and determined with her words.

Andrea sighed deeply and nodded. "Well then… I will support you with that. Let me be the aunt of that brat." She groaned as she hugged her friend while rubbing her back. 

"Thank you, Andy. Thank you so much." Roselle mumbled tearfully.

A week later…

Roselle was snuggling lazily on her couch while waiting for Andrea's arrival. She had her eyes fixed on the baby book that she specifically purchased from yesterday when she went to the grocery. She decided to read more educational books about pregnancy to be more aware of her condition and to get herself ready for whatever she might be facing in the future. This time, she tried to get Oliver off from her mind and focused on the baby in her belly. She also blocked his number to make her mind at ease.

Ding! Dong! Ding! Dong!

Tumunog ang kanyang doorbell kung kaya't napilitan siyang ilapag ang hawak na libro sa coffee table at pumunta sa may pinto upang buksan ito.

"Sandali lang…" She muttered, thinking that it was Andrea knocking on her door. She opened it and her body froze. It wasn't Andrea but another person!

"Roselle, why did you block me, huh?" The person was none other than Oliver Mitchell, snapping her out from her reverie. He stormed into her apartment and engulfed her in his warm hug. "I missed you so much…" He even began to kiss her neck which successfully pacified the woman's awful feeling from the inside.

"Oliver…" She moaned softly as she tilted her head like she had been hypnotized. She closed her eyes and inhaled his unique scent greedily in silence.

"I know you missed this too…" Oliver was groaning in between his kisses as he carried her towards the couch after kicking her door shut. "You made me feel desperate. I want you so bad." He added.

He stripped her clothes and kissed every inch of her body until he finally got over his craving and began to do his penetration. His massive erection for some reason fills her emptiness as he rocked his body against hers. His thrusts were wild but full of affection as he groaned her name from time to time. Like an automatic humanoid, she gave in to him once again and let him indulge himself for another round until he shattered inside her and she also came hard. Their entangled bodies were sweating profusely as they both snuggled to each other on the small couch.

"I love you..." She mumbled softly in his ears while regaining her erratic breathing.

Oliver's body seemed to turn stiff when he heard her words. He inhaled sharply and slowly detached himself from her and stood up. He gathered his clothes and put them on as quickly as possible. After a few seconds, he turned to look at her.

"I'm sorry... I can't love you back. I think it's better if we turn ourselves into strangers from now on." He muttered coldly. He gazed at her in disgust as if she was an irrelevant stranger that only took body pleasures from him. 

Roselle's face turned ghastly pale in shock. Covering herself with her clothes, she opened her mouth and spoke shakily. "Please don't do this to me..." She begged tearfully. Fresh tears were now streaking down her face as she watched him turn completely into a different person. His gaze held coldness and indifference which made her heart completely break into pieces. 

"I have my ambitions and I need someone who can help me financially. You're not the right woman for me." He muttered indifferently.

"But I…" Gustong-gusto niyang sabihin na nagdadalang tao siya sa anak nito but for some reason she prevent it from coming out from her mouth. She just sobbed helplessly while watching him storming out from her apartment.

Since then, she has completely discarded him from her life. She moved on and with Andrea's help, she nurtured both herself and the baby in her tummy until it reached 7 month old. Now she looks like a huge elephant but she doesn't care. Her baby's well being was more important to her rather than her appearance. Besides, she looked better than before. Her skin was blooming and her body shape was more curvy. She had morphed into a different person as time passed by.

Today was her scheduled ultrasound. Wrapped in her maternity dress, she walked in and out from the hospital building gaily and took a seat at the wooden bench under the huge tree. She was so delighted that she had finally known the gender of her baby and it was a girl. Ecstatic, she folded the ultrasound report and put it in her bag. While rubbing her bulging stomach, she took out her mobile phone and dialed Andrea's number but it was out of reach. She gave up dialing her friend's number and decided to go home. 

She was slowly walking towards the intersection while protecting her swollen belly when a black car came, blurring her sight. It was speeding, aiming straight on her position. The window was slightly opened and her eyes gradually darkened at the sight of the people inside the vehicle. She tried to fasten her steps but the massive bulge on her belly prevented her from moving fast. Fear and panic instantly creeped out of her and the last thing she knew…

"Ahhh!"

Bang!

Thud!
