Ryan's features were dull, it had taken quite some time and efforts from Tremont to stop him from crying.John knew that Tremont was unhappy, so he was cautious about his next words."Poor child looks so sad, maybe you can allow him to see her, at least to feed him? " The statement was barely out of his mouth when Tremont threw him an icy look."Never bring her up again. And especially not in front of him, give him a week or two, I doubt he will remember that someone like her ever came into his life." Tremont spoke with confidence but John wasn't willing to give up just yet."And what if he doesn't, besides, for how do you plan hide her in that room? Forever?""If it is necessary, then, I will." Tremont didn't seem as though he was merely joking about it, he casts his attention on Ryan who ap
CHAPTER THIRTY ONE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aurora entered the bathroom, she wondered how long she was going to remain trapped inside the room. The cook, Marie, had sent breakfast and lunch, all of which Aurora left untouched. She had no appetite, she wondered how Ryan was doing, it was dark outside and almost time for him to sleep. She wondered if he missed her, she certainly missed him! She wondered if he had his meals.Sighing aloud, she washed her hands and wiped them with a clean towel before stepping out of the bathroom. There was a figure already waiting for her,Georgina. Aurora paused midway into the room, both she and Georgina stared at each other for some seconds before she looked away. She noticed that Georgina was dressed in casual clothes and her hand was covered with bandages. Did Georgina hurt herself? "How does it feel staying in this room? Does it feel any different now that you are no longer a hired help?" Georgina brok

He kept staring at her wide-eyed, Georgina had the thought if she had turned into an alien. Trying to feed him was the last thing to do, but she supposed she could do this much to earn Tremont's gratitude. "Not hungwy...I wa--nt Miss Aw--ra!" His childish words spread an ugly frown across Georgina's features. She didn't need to hear the name of that witch this morning. "I'm done arguing with you! Have your milk now, or I might have to hit you! " She spoke in a firm tone that seemed to successfully frighten the child. Just as Ryan took the glass from her, his hand slipped and the cup fell to the ground, spilling milk, half of it splashed against Georgina's feet and some parts of her dress."What did you do! Your stupid self can't even hold a glass properly! " She hissed in a venomous m
CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aurora had been standing beside the window when she heard the sound of the door clicking open from the outside. She turned around swiftly, seconds later the person entered. She had not expected to see Linnet. The woman looked sickly than the last time Aurora had seen her. She found herself thinking about the words John had spoken the other night. Was Linnet really dying? She continued to stare at Linnet who was giving her a strange stare. "Are you okay?" Aurora broke the silence."A..Aurora?" Linnet pronounced as though she wasn't sure before she entered into a fit of coughs. Aurora hurried towards her and helped her to sit on the single sofa in the room."If you are very ill, you shouldn't have come here, you should stay in bed resting." Producing a glass of warm water, Aurora handed it to Linnet. She couldn't guess why Linnet was staring at her continuously, it
CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aurora struggled to keep up with his furious strides. "Where are you taking me?" She managed to ask against the heavy beat of her heart, he kept his expression unreadable and she suddenly had the thought if he was still extremely upset with her because he had seen his mother with her. "I was locked inside, she was the one who searched for me." She tried to explain. When she got no response, she continued in a soft whisper. "I know that you don't trust me but I'm not that kind of a person to take advantage of her because of her current state." Aurora still remembered the pain-staking look on Tremont's face moments ago when Linnet had mistaken him for her late husband. She thought how he must be suffering inside and even though he was currently holding her in death's grip, her heart sympathized with him. Even though she didn't know how the mother and son related in the past but she knew how painf
CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Look! How very lively he is now!" John exclaimed, but his smile wiped off as soon as he met Tremont's cold glance. After a long silence, he spoke again for Tremont's ears alone."Son, she can't be as bad as you think..." He never got to finish his words when Tremont snapped."I'm not paying you to speak for her!"Tremont's eyes shifted in Aurora's direction. This wasn't the first time the older man who was never interested in people's lives had tried to speak up for her. He wondered if John had also been deceived by her gentle features.John smiled slowly not seeming bothered by Tremont's sharp words.John knew Tremont well enough to know that for Ryan's sake, Tremont would do anything, even if that meant using Aurora, but there was also the fact that he had seen what Tremont did to his enemies, simply keeping them locked up in a room was the very least of it. John tho

CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aurora was shoved roughly into the cell, she desperately banged her hands furiously at the men in uniform. They ignored her pleas of protest and walked away after clicking the metal doors shut."Hey! Shut up! You are being noisy!" A sharp voice yelled and Aurora swiftly turned around, the cell was dark and she had been too distracted to realize there were several people within the small space as well. "You disturbed our sleep! Do you wish to live?" Another young woman called out rudely. Aurora trembled amidst the glares of animosity she got from the three girls in the cell. They all had one thing in common, which was in the way they appeared. Their skin was pale and dirty as though they hadn't seen the light of the sun for a very long time. Aurora could almost count the bones on the body of one of the girls who appeared to be the youngest. She wondered if she would one day turn out ex
CHAPTER THIRTY EIGHT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Tremont pushed aside the documents, breathing out his frustration. It had been a week already, but he still found it difficult to concentrate on anything. It was her. Aurora, who kept haunting his mind. He could still remember the hopelessness in her eyes as she uttered those last words. ' You never listen to me simply because you already hated me, you think that I'm a very horrible person, I can't say if I'm a good person, but I've never had any bad intention towards you or your family!' She even troubled his dream, he found it hard to sleep at night, he should know better than to believe a gold-digger like her, but that didn't make him feel any better. He drank a sip of his tea only to spit out the soured taste, he was going to be sick. The doctors still weren't clear on his mother's condition, they had advised him to prepare himself for the worst. Even if his mother somehow manage
