Dahlia’s POV:

I spent the entire day with Tatum showing me around the rogue commune. It was kind of sad, how they are forced to live in hiding in fear of pack members who’d kill them at first sight. No mercy is shown to them, no support from the council, no one else to rely on but themselves. It made me think, with everything Tatum told me about his life before the Alpha King saved him, he still didn’t turn his back on them.

Something to think about, before the thought of rejecting him eventually slipped my mind.

“Everything ok?” Tatum asks from the driver’s seat, making me glance at him.

“Uh, yeah.” I let out a breath.

“Thank you so much for today,” I say.

He smiles genuinely.

“I wanted to show my mate who I was. Be awkward if you didn’t know anything about your mate,” he chuckles, and I force a smile.

“Yeah,” I say, feeling awkward.

We both faded into silence while I stared up at my brother’s house, wondering what I will do when I see Hades waiting for me inside.

Dahlia’s POV:I get up the next day, limping to the kitchen. Valerian had been weirdly rougher than normal, and Hades hadn’t stopped him from getting his way. My brother eyes me from the staircase, making me straighten up. I would rather endure the pain than give him any clues on what I had been doing behind his back. “Rough night?” He raises a brow. With a gulp, I nod. He squints his eyes but remains silent, which I was grateful for. “Heard you went on a date,” he says, wiggling his brows.I roll my eyes at him.“So, did you and Tatum make it official yet?” he asks, taking my mug from the cupboard. “He thought we should be first be friends,” I shrug, taking it from him, watching his reaction from the mirror situated on the kitchen wall.My brother’s brows crease, and he appears to think. “That’s odd.”In my circumstances, I’d say it’s great. Perfect, actually. I won’t have to deal with the burden of having to reject him before I tell him the truth.“Sooner or later, you’d have t

Suddenly, a hand curls around my waist. My eyes dart to Hades, holding me close to him. His brows furrowed.“Are you ok?” Breathing harshly, I swallow the lump stuck in my throat and shake my head, moving away from him. All their attention goes to me as I stumble backward, feeling my lips tremble as I reeked of fear.“I… I think I’m going to rest in my room.”Atlas nods in understanding, while the guys narrowed their eyes at me. I do my best to hide it by zipping my mouth shut and staying quiet as I approach my room. The door closes with a bang behind me as I slam my back down against it. She hums a tune, the more she hums it the more I want to fall asleep.I move my head around something soft and squishy, and so so big. Hmm. So soft. So squishy. I say again and again in my head before a small giggle sounds in my ear, and I smile. “Hades, wake up,” I jolt myself awake. That name.Shit, I curse myself as I groan, sitting up and forcing my eyes open. I feel movement behind me, before two hands curl around my chest. Her sweet, caramel scent milks the air, before I glance over at her smiling with her chin propped on my shoulder.“Catherine,” Her name rolls off my tongue in a rasp. She smiles. “Have a good sleep?”I swallow and nod. Dahlia’s POV:“So what? You think marking me will solve everything?”“It’ll buy us time,” he said quickly. “We can still be friends—take things slow, like I promised. But if I mark you, they can’t interfere. You’ll be mine in their eyes, and that’s enough to shut them up.”Diana howled inside me, torn between excitement and hesitation. I folded my arms again, narrowing my eyes at him. “And what if I’m not ready for that?”Tatum’s eyes soften, and he reaches for me, but I step back before he can touch me. “Then I’ll wait,” he says quietly. “But think about it, Dahlia. I need you. I don’t want anyone else.”The sincerity in his voice makes my chest tighten, but I shake my head, stepping further back. “I... I need time.”His mouth falls open going to say something but he closes it and nods.“Take it. But don’t take too long.” Shaking my head, I turn and walk away before he can say anything else.Diana’s restless, her emotions a mirror of my own, and I can’t tell where her longing ends

Dahlia’s POV:My mind went blank, my lips parting slightly. Pregnant… The word plays over and over in my head while Catherine blabbers on about her upcoming check-up and shopping spree for her and Hades’ new baby before they marry and become their own happy little family. My wolf bristles, probably her way of telling me ‘I told you so,’ as my heart breaks and shatters into a million pieces. “Dahlia, are you with me?” Cathy’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts.Looking up, it took me a moment to regain my composure before I plaster on a fake smile.“Congratulations.”Her eyes lit up, leaning forward as she hugs me across her seat. I stiffen for a moment, tapping her back but my face showed no sign of happiness.Catherine treated me at the café, and we talked about some of the interesting things happening her life while I smiled. I didn’t know how I managed to pull it off the whole hour but I did, and I was thankful she didn’t notice me.Suddenly, a thought entered my mind.“Does Hades

Hades’ POV:My knuckles crack as I punched the wall on the corner I was leaning on. My teeth bared, the paper crumpling in my hand. How the fuck did I let this happen? I growled.“Just fuck!” I snapped, swinging my other fist creating a booming sound that resounded through the doorway.Looking down, I open my fist and glare at the ultrasound results sent to me by Cathy. I stared at the small figure shown on the center of the scan. Pregnant, I whisper to myself. I can’t believe I ever got her pregnant.Sure, we fucked, but I thought she was on the pill. How the fuck could this even be happening? My eyes blink, staring at the results in pure and utter horror. With a groan, I plopped down on the chair, rubbing circles above my eyes before I blinked and dropped my gaze on the monster hiding beneath my pants. You had one job. I growl at it. Frustration must be getting the better of me now that I started talking to little Hades, anyone passing by my room must think I’m a nutjob. And I’ll

Twiddling with my fingers, I kept my eyes fixed on my brother instead.Atlas cleared his throat and leaned forward with his elbows on his knees.“Sorry to ask you this but, why so sudden?” I knew he would ask me that because I told him Tatum and I wanted to start off as friends, and he approved it.I had no answer for that. I glanced over at Hades who’s burning eyes are steady pinned on me. Hurt shone in his obsidian eyes, and I looked away.I opened my mouth, but no words came. To my relief, Tatum stepped up and spoke.“We thought there is no point in holding back. After all, we’re mates.” Tatum said, looking over at me. His hand extended to reach mine, squeezing it gently. In an instant, a low, rumbling growl resounded through the room. The sound coming from Hades’ chest.Atlas shot Hades a look. Dahlia’s POV:“Here we are, home sweet home,” Tatum said while I gawked at his newly-furnished house. Earlier, I was confused why he did not head to the Alpha King’s territory. He smiled and said we are going to his house, not his father’s. I shrugged, but I did not expect his house to be a freaking mansion. My eyes drawled in the sight of the large, three-story building designed to fit the modern, contemporary style while keeping a light touch of wood, showing old-fashioned style as well. Inside, however, was the real deal. Every object screamed supreme wealth that surpassed even my brother’s.I cleared my throat, trying to keep my dignity and composure as I nodded at Tatum.“This way, Ma’am,” a small wispy voice made me turn my head to see a beautiful girl dressed as a maid, a wide smile plastered on her face. Her hair was blonde and had a fair complexion, with smooth silky skin. I looked her over when I noticed something weird about her outfit. It was quite revealing. Not too much

Hades’ POV:Three weeks later.Everything was revealed later that night. The dead bodies piled up in the room, Scarlet’s origin, and the rogues he’d been keeping in that private house Damien apparently gave to him after he’d been crowned prince. King Damien had been furious. Despite what he did, we chose to give him and the others a proper funeral, which will be coming up in the next few days. Hopefully by then, Dahlia will wake up, and accept the mark I’d given to her as my chosen mate.“How long has it been now?” Val asks, leaning against the door frame in my office.I shrug, “A few weeks. Three tops,” I reply and sigh.Val nods, and I look at him.“How’s Cathy?” I ask.“She’s fine, been trying to get her to take her supplements,” “Well, is she?”“Not without a bribe,” he chuckles, and I shake my head. Of course, he can get his woman to make love to him despite being pregnant. But then, it begs the question.“And what about Lola?” “Well, she doesn’t really need me anymore,” My br

If she is lying, I’ll give you a go signal. Kill her.” I tell him just so he could shut up already. He nods, but I know the reason he’s acting suspicious is because the last thing he trusts would be damn rogues leading us the way. Our pack is no stranger to rogue attacks, and for his account, he lost both his parents in one.We are currently moving in a large group with my warriors in my front, following Scarlet’s lead. Chapter 121Dahlia’s POVHis eyes widen and he instantly grabs the handle of the knife, only for me to push it in harder. Blood spews from his mouth, letting me know I have a chance. Diana comes forward when he tries to get up, lending me her strength to pin him down while he’s currently caught off guard. He growls, his eyes locked onto me in surprise, confusion, and wrath, but I don’t let go. Instead, I grip the knife tighter, pushing as much as I could before I twist. Suddenly, his mouth opens and more blood trickles from his lips. Then he makes a gurgling sound, and I watch him, my heart racing in my chest as I stare into his wide eyes. One minute turned to two as I held the knife buried deep in his heart while he constantly fights. His breathing becomes weaker and weaker by the second, and his inability to utter a word, I figured, is what prevented him from casting any spell. Then, he surprises me when he grabs my neck, yanking me forward. I shriek, holding onto the knife as he

Dahlia’s POV:I look at him watching me with lust and desire as he roams his eyes over my body. It heats and squirms underneath his gaze, yet I was certain it was none other than the bond making me feel such things. What else would make me look past whatever sick thoughts were going through his head, and everything he’d done up to present?Tatum leans forward, letting me know that somehow grabbed his attention. So I try to keep it by licking my lips seductively, placing my palms on the mattress before I begin crawling to him, stopping at the edge to spread my legs wide open.He growls, his eyes going to my center and I take this as a chance to put my arms around his neck as I pull him towards me. Thankfully, he obliges, but then he stands, shoving me back on the bed.Pushing my elbows against the mattress, I move my body further up the bed where the knife is. But Tatum doesn’t follow. Chapter 119Dahlia’s POVIt took me a few seconds to realize how many boxes were stacked in this one room. Sixteen. The only thing that gave me a little comfort was that I only recognized one of the scents. Thalia’s, which means recently, he’d only killed one of the women though I have yet to see proof of Scar’s. That woman is tough as gold. I’ve been holding on to small hope that maybe, she escaped. I also noticed how Tatum disclosed so little information about her, that strengthens my resolve to believe he is lying. As long as I have hope, I can hold out a little longer. I have to.It’s taking longer than expected for me to reject the effects of wolfsbane, leaving me still in a paralytic state though my mind is conscious. Tatum turned his back for a second, when I felt the mind-link open up.‘Dahlia!’ A deep voice boomed in my head, and there was no mistaking it.‘Hades,’ Relief would have flooded me right in this instant, if only Tatum haven’t somewhat sensed it as he strode towa

Although I can feel my lips and tongue, meaning I can only speak but not move for the next couple of hours, or more.As I come to, I hear my wolf groaning subtly in the back of my mind. That’s when I remembered, Tatum. I stepped outside my room for a while to check on the shouting when I bumped on him out of nowhere. Then, he pulled out a syringe and injected me with wolfsbane.Wolfsbane! I gasp to myself.Relief floods me to know that the wolfsbane hasn’t gotten to Diana, at least not yet. Wolfsbane, when injected directly to werewolves, could damage us in unimaginable ways, damage our wolf. “You’re awake,” a loud voice rips me out of my thoughts as I try to look in the direction it came from.
