MARA

I ran out of the palace immediately because Alpha Shawn, who could be my only saviour, was out of the Pack for a very important meeting.

I barely came out of the palace, so I had no idea where I was headed, but I kept racing into the woods.

Suddenly, it began to rain.

The rain lashed down on me like icy needles as I bolted into the woods, my bare feet slipping on the slick ground. Each step felt like freedom and doom all at once.

My wolf, Ria, had taken over, her speed was unmatched as we soared through the forest, weaving through the towering trees that loomed like masquerades.

The thrill of my first shift overpowered my fear. The sensation was unlike anything I had ever felt, as though I had been caged my whole life and now, finally, the bars had shattered.

The forest blurred around me, every drop of rain sharper, every sound around me was louder. Yet my inner strength screamed louder still.

“Run, Mara. Don’t stop. Don’t think.” Ria encouraged me.

But my luck soon ran out—ju

MARAWith that, he turned, his footsteps echoed in the dead silence of the hall as he left. After he left, I felt as though the air was suffocating me. Watari grinned and pointed to a woman who was standing close by. Her face was emotionless and without pity as she handed me a set of lingerie. “Put those on.”The fabric was barely enough to cover me—a half-bra and a pair of thongs tossed into my hands like scraps. My fingers trembled as I slipped them on, the lace scratching against my skin and the thong stuck into my bums in an uncomfortable way.The dried flowers in the little purse she carried smelled bitter and horribly sweet as she placed them against my skin.“This will make you... presentable,” she said flatly, as if that explained anything.I wanted to scream at her, to ask her why she wasn’t helping me but I couldn't get the words out of my throat. Instead, I sat there with my thoughts racing and my body feeling numb. I had thoughts of breaking free and clawing my way out,

MARAIt stopped inches from my bare feet as it rolled over the blood-stained floor, its dead eyes widened and accusing. Around it, blood gathered and seeped into the floorboard cracks. A choked scream clawed up my throat, and my heart began to beat rhythmically. I felt like throwing up as the world began to spin around my eyes."Who...Who did this?" I spoke in a raspy mumble. The answer emerged from the shadows like a storm gathering strength. He stepped forward, his presence commanding the room. Despite the sharp features of a man who looked barely twenty, the depth in his cold eyes portrayed a soul burdened with years—sixty-five, maybe more. His lithe movements were swift yet deliberate, a predator among prey.Yet, I couldn’t see his face because the light was still on me. “So, it’s true.” His voice cut through the air like a blade. “This underground ring. You sell female wolves and omegas like livestock. And for what? Your fucking fetishised pleasures?”The room froze. The al

MARA My legs were unsteady as I stepped out of the cave. Everywhere was dark. The earth, the trees, the whole forest were covered with dark grains. I paused for a second, hoping for…. Well, hope was a fruitless fantasy at that point. Just then, a shadow moved in the distance. And, there she was. Lola. Her smirk was wide and cruel, her eyes gleamed with the triumph of a predator catching its prey. “Finally,” she sneered. “You really thought you could hide from me, didn’t you?” Her fist hit my stomach before I could balance myself, and I fell again from lack of breath. Streams of pain sprang up as she pulled me to my feet. She growled and jerked me forward, "Let's go." Despite my best efforts to at least show my omega poweress, my body collapsed. My thoughts were disorganized and my head was spinning as I turned to look behind me and saw Kael. He was holding my maid Vespera, he blindfolded her and held a chain with which he used to bound her. A bag was pulled ov

  • CLAIMED BY MY SWEET LYCAN BEAST   Chapter 23: Mate bound

NARRATOR I stand in front of the large mirror in my bedroom with a towel wrapped around my waist, which clings to my damp skin. My eyes are fixed on my reflection, and I can see the loneliness etched on my face. It's been three months since my Luna, Faye, passed away after giving birth to our only heir and every inch of this house reminds me of her. Her laughter used to fill this space, like the sun spilling over a dark forest, chasing the shadows away. Now, it’s just me—Alpha Kalen, mighty in title, pathetic in solitude—lost in a world that seems to have moved on too quickly. The pain of her loss still lingers, and I find myself struggling to cope with the emptiness that has settled within me. The bed creaks under my weight as I lean on it with my gaze fixed on the ceiling. I don’t know what’s worse. Maybe the memories of her or the absence of them. My body aches, not from battle or duty, but from a need I biologically should not starve my body with. It’s been a while sinc

  • CLAIMED BY MY SWEET LYCAN BEAST   Chapter 24: Forbidden

NARRATOR I walk through the Pack palace hall, my feet carrying me towards my destination- the palace rooms I’m supposed to clean. But before I turn the corner, I catch a whiff of a tantalising aroma- the Cinnamon and Clove scent. It's a smell that draws me in, making my heart skip a beat. I'm confused, though - why am I smelling this scent? It's not the scent of Aiden my mate. And I've never heard so much about smelling the scent of another person’s mate, but this is definitely something that's calling to me. It can’t be. This scent belongs to a mate, a gift from the Moon Goddess herself. But that doesn’t make sense because I’m already mated. I’ve been married to Aiden for five years. My mate's bond should have faded by now, tied completely to him plus Sandalwood, Apple and burnt honey was Aiden’s scent. Yet, as I step into the hallway of the Pack Palace, the scent thrives harder, pulling me toward the Alpha’s chambers. My legs feel like they’re moving on their own, and the

MARA I scramble through the crumbling remains of Ravencrest, my heart hammering in my chest. The scent of blood and smoke hangs thick in the air, choking the life from my lungs. The sounds of chaos—the shrill screams of warriors, the clash of steel against steel, and the guttural growls of wolves—reverberate in my ears. The night was supposed to be a celebration. My coronation rehearsal had gone so well until the first arrow flew. Now, Ravencrest is a war zone. I can barely see through the haze of dust and debris. My eyes sting, but I force myself to look. I have to survive this. I can’t die here—not like this, not with so much left undone. But as I push through the wreckage, something shifts in the air. A strange, unsettling feeling twists in my gut. These attackers—these wolves—they’re different. Their eyes burn with an unnatural fire, their movements too fluid, too precise. These aren’t ordinary werewolves. No, they’re rogues. Lycans, perhaps. Their power and speed ar

MARA For a second, my senses go numb, everything stopped in a twisted moment of time as our traumatizer shot the arrow but it hit the ground a few feet away from where Alpha Kalen is lying. I can’t breathe, can’t think. “Have I been shot?” “Or was it my father?” Everything starts to fade away including the chaos of the battle as the sound of urgent and heavy footsteps reaches me. A figure appears from the dark, surrounded by warriors. It’s Kael. His face is grim, his body soaked in blood, streaks of it across his chest and hands, and the sight pricks something deep inside of me. Do you know why? For a heartbeat, I think it’s him. Kael. I thought he was behind the attack since he is the one I’m rivalling the throne with and it just happened that the attack happened at my coronation eve. I let myself believe the worst, the most terrifying possibility, that it was him who had set everything into motion. But as they draw closer, the truth hits me like a cold wave. “He’s

  • CLAIMED BY MY SWEET LYCAN BEAST   Chapter 27: Survival

MARA As I step off the bus in Seattle, the cool night air slaps me awake, and the city's relentless energy pulses through my veins. I wrap my coat tighter, shielding myself from the biting chilly cold. My feet throb from the long journey, and I clutch the crumpled note in my hand like a lifeline. Well, my life actually depends on it. The address scrawled on it seems like my only hope in this unfamiliar city. As I look around, a man catches my eye. He is leaning against a lamppost, his shadow stretching long and thin on the pavement. He is tall, at least six feet, with a rugged, weathered face and a scar above his left eyebrow. His eyes are a deep, rough brown, and they seem to hold a thousand secrets. His hair is dark and unkempt, framing his face with a messy, endearing quality. He wears a faded black leather jacket, ripped jeans, and scuffed boots that look like they've seen better days. As he turns to face me, a whiff of stale cigarettes and last night's beer wafts

MARA I keep looking at him with awe and my mouth widely apart. If someone were looking at us from the outside, they’d think I knew this guy. But I don’t. I mean, I’ve never seen him before, but there’s something oddly creepy about the way he holds himself, as if he’s been in control of situations like this a thousand times. He’s…cute. In a too-perfect, I-just-walked-out-of-a-catalog kind of way. His skin is flawless—smooth, almost glowing, like he spends hours in front of a mirror, following a skincare routine and making sure every detail is perfect. It’s almost unnerving how perfect he looks. No rough edges, no signs of wear, just smooth, flawless skin. His lips are so full, so tempting and looking sumptuous, that if it weren't for my self-control, and, okay, The little camera and microphone bug Rolan planted in my scalp to track my every move in order to find out where these people are trooping out from-I’d probably have kissed him or eaten those lips raw by now. But

  • CLAIMED BY MY SWEET LYCAN BEAST   Chapter 37: Cleavages

MARA My phone buzzes in my hands, pulling my attention away from the intense tension that hangs between Rolan and me. I glance down at the screen, expecting maybe a text from my masked man, but instead, it’s a memo from my school. I open it, the words blurring together as I skim through the message. My heart sinks with each line. “An indefinite strike?” “A state of emergency in Seattle.” I read the outline out a bit loud, out of my subconsciousness. Something about suspicious creatures wreaking havoc in the city. I scroll further, my fingers trembling as I absorb the details—there were records of deaths and injuries. And the government is scrambling to identify the threat. Pictures of the dead and injured flash across the screen, their faces twisted in pain, bodies scarred by deep, claw-like marks. My stomach churns as I recognize the marks. The jagged, uneven lines stretch across the skin, deep and raw, like something had slashed through it with savage force. The edges a

ROLAN My hands are firmly gripping the wheel as my hawk-like eyes dart forward like a hawk on the road ahead. The boredom of the trip is getting to me; we've been on this road for far too long. However, I sense the slight change in the air once more as my thoughts start to stray. It feels as though we are both holding our breath, waiting for something to break the oppressive and heavy tension between us. “Masked men again?” I murmured. I'm not expecting an answer. To be honest, I'm not particularly interested in getting one. Beside me, Mara is quiet, her eyes focused on the windshield, and the only sound between us is the beat of the engine and the tires on the road. However, I sense her pain and anxiety. It lies just behind her silence like an apparition. The kind of pain I can't get rid of. She seems to be gradually closing down on me, and I can feel that. And I dislike it, damn it. I hate the fact that, unlike everything else, I am unable to break her mental code. S

ROLAN The wind hums low and steady through the little opening from the tinted window as I keep my eyes on the long road gripping the wheel tighter. The drive back to Seattle is quiet except for Mara humming softly beside me occasionally. Beside me, Mara is sitting, her legs tucked up on the seat. She’s gazing out the window with a calm face, though the occasional furrow of her brow betrays the constant sight of her pretty face. I know she's been thinking about something ever since she returned from wherever she was taken to from my surgery. Her mind is clouded with a worry she refuses to share with me. Every time I try to bring up the topic, the deal she had to make to save me, she becomes distant—sensitive, closed off, and unwilling to talk about it. “Mara.” My voice breaks the quiet, and she turns to me. Her sharp and questioning green eyes meet mine. “What?” I pause, considering my words. “You’ve been quiet for the last twenty miles.” “That usually means you’re about

MARAI didn’t have any plans to steal anyone’s boyfriend. Honestly, I didn’t even know if I was capable of feeling anything for anyone at all. Being a wolf, living in this human world, I wasn’t sure if that was even possible anymore. But there’s always an exception to everything right?Yeah I am talking about JacobHe kept pushing, drawing near, like some kind of magnet I couldn’t escape. And Axel? She was just obsessed. A fantasy she had built up in her own mind, one where I was her rival, a competitor, her hater, enemy of her progress, a sorcerer who could shift shapes and everything more she could think of.It was laughable if it weren’t so dangerous. After the cafeteria drama, I should have felt angry and so humiliated. But I didn’t.Maybe I was just too tired of it all, or maybe I had learned by now to swallow the hurt, to let it sink beneath my skin where no one could see it. Axel could taunt me all she wanted, but she wasn’t going to break me. I wouldn’t allow her.The n

  • CLAIMED BY MY SWEET LYCAN BEAST   Chapter 33: Dorm drama

MARA Ria hums in my mind, satisfied but restless. It’s been six months since I’ve shifted, and tonight was when I released her. The cool twilight air still sticks to my skin as a testament to my run which left a trail of euphoria and pleasure in me. The run was like a stolen moment where I could just exist as I am, without the pressure of my disguise or the suffocating rules of this human world. But as I approach the dorm window from the woods, the sharp tang of alcohol and the smear of too-bright makeup meet my senses. It is Axel. Of course, it had to be her. She’s perched at the window, fumbling with the latch, her glittered dress shining bright under the moonlight. She's stumbling, her high heels dangling loosely from one hand. The strong smell of vodka clings to her, making me feel nauseated within seconds. Our eyes meet for a brief moment - hers flashing with drunkenness and accusations, mine wide with fear. I try to move past her without a word, but her voice cuts

AXEL The cafeteria confrontation kept replaying in my head like a broken record; every detail kept sharpening so fresh, every humiliation keeps on magnifying. Jeff's words were etched into my memory, cutting deep into them with pain. He’s broken up with me, all thanks to our glorified witch Mara. The way he’d glanced at Mara, like she was the answer to some question I’d never even been asked made my skin crawl and inside filled with wrath towards her. I couldn’t stand the thought of her. The girl who had stolen not just Jeff’s attention but Jacob’s too, as though she was some magnetic force none of them could escape. Who the hell was she? What did she have that I didn’t? I paced my dorm room, my thoughts spiralling almost out of control and my chest keep tightening with frustration. Tears pricked my eyes, hot and unwelcome tears, blurring my vision. “Damn it,” I hissed, scrubbing my face with the back of my hands. I couldn’t let this consume me, but it already had. My

MARA Jacob’s been a constant shadow since that night when his intentions became clear. Not the creepy kind of shadow, but the thoughtful, steady one that makes you feel like someone’s got your back. He calls, texts, and checks in regularly as his own way of weaving himself into my life. It’s not like I need anything; the black card my father handed me that morning is more than enough to cover all my expenses. Yet Jacob keeps surprising me, showing up with random gifts that make me smile despite everything I’m going through. When classes run long—especially after those brutal pharmacology lab sessions—he waits outside, either ready to walk me home or drive me to the dorm in his beautiful but modest Toyota Corolla. It’s old enough to feel relatable, but well-kept, with a gleaming navy-blue exterior that suits his grounded personality. I think he calls it “Bluebell,” which is honestly adorable. Sometimes, as I watch him, I wonder if Voltex is a university or some odd hybrid b

  • CLAIMED BY MY SWEET LYCAN BEAST   Chapter 30: Bubble burst

MARA Social and academic life blend seamlessly for Axel. She’s the queen of all-nighters, balancing textbooks and tequila shots like it’s an Olympic sport. Parties, grades, accolades—it’s her domain, and she owns it unapologetically. For me, the story is different. I’m no wallflower, but the human world is a minefield, each step a potential explosion that could reveal what I truly am. So, I steer clear of the parties and wild nights. Not because I can’t keep up, but because I can’t risk the wrong kind of attention. That’s where Axel’s hatred finds its roots. To her, my refusal to join the chaos of college life isn’t discipline—it’s a subtle critique of her choices. The more she sees me excel in class or gracefully fits in a room, the deeper her resentment grows. In her eyes, I’m not just competition; I’m her mirror, reflecting the cracks she’d rather not see. Today, though, Axel isn’t my concern. I’ve decided to visit Clara, Mr Jorge’s daughter. One of the few people here
