{Ciril’s POV}

Sometimes I feel like if our heart had the option, they would just break out of our chest cavity and make a run for it.

Some people’s hearts have been through so much tension and dread than they can handle— for example; my heart.

My heart has been through so much tension and dread.

Upon seeing Ivanka in the doorway, my heart ached and then it started thumping mightily against my chest. I didn’t like being scared of her but at the same time, I couldn’t control it.

I immediately shot up to my feet, Vera with me, and I stared at Ivanka in tremble as she made her way in.

“You are going to make what work?” Ivanka repeated herself and then motioned her hand at the Sentries in the doorway, signaling them to remain outside.

I started to make slow paces back.

I didn’t know what to tell her and at the same time, I couldn’t let her find out about the Prince and me.

I dreaded that reality but at the same time, my brain wasn’t supplying me with any excuse.

“I asked you a question

{Ciril’s POV}“Oh my goodness.” Vera started panicking. “It's real. It’s happening. There is truly a feral.”She was panicking audibly and she was doing it on both our behalf frankly. I couldn’t talk because I was too dazed to do so but then she was saying the exact words I was thinking.“We’re in deep mess, Ciril. Very deep mess!” She voiced. “What are we going to do?!” “Hey, lower your voice and calm down.” I told her, trying to be the emotionally stronger one among us. “How do you expect me to fucking calm down, Ciril?!” She retorted and I stared at her with a hint of surprise.“Since when do you cuss?” I asked her.“I cuss whenever my life is about to be over.”Good point. “Look.” I shifted closer and held her shoulders. “I know this is a terrible situation we’re in but yelling and complaining is not going to solve anything. It’s only going to call the guards' attention to us. They helped the wounded warriors into the Hencher and soon, they’ll be back out to guard the doors, by

{Ciril’s POV}I waited.I waited patiently until it was nighttime. I had been bored throughout the day so now that it was nighttime, my only impulse was to sneak out. And that’s what I did. Vera had subconsciously become my roommate so I snuck out before she could get back to the quarters, from her daily duty and try to stop me. I trailed through the gardened pathways now towards the Palace's main buildings as the Slave Quarters were separated from it. I was moving with stealth and a rapidly beating heart now but then my urge to know the truth kept pushing me. I just had to have my questions answered. I made it to the main Palace buildings and stood for a moment as I studied its architecture to know what axis the Prince’s room was. I was using the mate bond we shared to locate him and it was working just fine but then I realized that the Prince’s room was on the east side of where I was standing and it was in the upper story of the buildings. I needed to climb. I saw a group o

{Ciril’s POV}I crashed to the ground roughly and bruised my knees but that wasn’t the most disturbing thing. The most disturbing was the fact that I had just been dragged from the Quarters to the courtyard, embarrassed along the way and now I was knelt before the person I least wanted to be beside. — I didn’t know it would only get worse.“I am made to believe that the Prince didn’t reject the slave girl.” I heard the Abasha girl say behind me and then immediately, my heart started struggling to break out of my chest with harsh pounds. My breathing stiffened. I promptly swiveled around to look at Abasha now and I met a cunning smile on her lips. I tensed as waves of shock and dread poured through me. How did she find out?“Is that so?” The Alpha Queen said now, her voice calling my attention back to her. I promptly bowed down my head in mercy and to avoid making eye contact with her especially since my eyes were becoming teary. “Yes, my Queen.” Abasha responded.“And how do you k

{Ciril’s POV}“Oh, you thought I didn’t know?”Those words crashed into my consciousness like six daggers rather than six words. I trembled with more fear than I thought was possible now— on a hot day, I was shuddering. Abasha knew. She knew all along and she was casually here, trying to make me mess and lie… which I had just done. “Interesting.” The Alpha Queen muttered for the second time today. I turned to look at her but I didn’t know who to focus on anymore. The Queen was powerful and cruel and this scared me, but then, with the few things that had happened today, I was made to realize that Abasha was dangerous.Very dangerous.I swiveled back to rest my gaze on Abasha as she started to laugh and address me now. “Look at how edgy she looks.” She said while she chortled. “You’re literally convulsing. Your slave hands are shaking.” She added and laughed some more. Fresh tears streamed out of my eyes. “Guilt.” The Alpha Queen commented and then she faced Abasha. “Explain to me

{Ciril’s POV}Vera stunned all of us with her presence. — me especially. And she stunned me more with her words. “She wasn’t in the Prince’s room… because I was.” She said and I trembled as waves of dread and confusion poured on me.The Alpha Queen looked from me to Vera and then to Absha before she looked back at Vera.“What are you saying, girl?!” The Queen bawled at her and I flinched in reaction. I promptly looked back at Vera dreadfully wondering the same thing. What was she saying? What was she even doing here? I tried to call her gaze to myself for her to make eye contact with me but then she wasn’t giving in. She was consciously avoiding my gaze.“My Queen. I’m here to confess! I’m saying that I was the one in the Prince’s Chambers yesterday.” She said and I started shaking my head gently to signify a no. I was disapproving but she was intentionally not looking towards my axis.My heart started racing faster now as I stared between the Alpha Queen and Abasha. They were both

{Ciril’s POV}** Abasha, The Queen…With tears in my eyes, I scowled in intense anger as I rested there on the ground, staring at Abasha’s retreating body.I wiped away tears from my cheeks and I rose up to my feet. And then I shifted. I shifted into my werewolf form for the first time in a very long while. And a loud growl escaped my lips before I started darting toward Abasha.I didn’t have the time to be shocked that I had shifted to my werewolf form as all I could think of was tearing Abasha to pieces..I growled fiercely as I raced towards her with deadly haste and then she spun around to look at me. She grew a gentle smile as I got closer. All I wanted to do was to rip her lips off from her face so that she’d never smile again, but just as I got to her, just when I lunged at her with sharp claws to fulfill my aggrieved desire, Sentries from left and right jumped between us and held me. They wrestled to restrain me.I struggled back. They were two Sentries, and they held my arm

{Ciril’s POV}I spent all night plotting an escape from my room.Prince Landon had told me that if I told the truth they would still kill Vera and they would also kill me and I didn’t doubt him because we were slaves and the lives of slaves weren’t universally important. But I couldn’t just sit back and do nothing while Vera suffers for a crime she didn’t commit. I just couldn’t.Now, it was morning the next day— which meant that there was only one day left before Vera loses her head. And I was still helpless. The Sentries who were guarding the door were doing it very strictly as they didn’t even leave for breaks or strolls, considering the fact that they were guarding a slave’s door and not someone noble.I paced around the room helplessly now and mistakenly stepped on a meat piece from last night’s food splattering. I frowned at that. I then went to sit on my small bed at the corner of my room and my mind roamed to Feryt— my best friend at RawHowl.Vera is just like Feryt. They ar

I was in my room now, still chained to the foot of my bed and I was just throwing random stares in the direction of every sound that I heard.I was hearing a lot of sounds— noises of different people talking. People seemed to be passing by, chatting and laughing. Maids seemed to be in a jolly mood as I could hear in their voices as they trailed by and then Sentries seemed to resonate the same idea—and soon it hit me.My memory was elicited. Today was the Alpha Prince’s wedding with that cunt. I had almost forgotten. My annoyance doubled over now. I felt a fit of intense anger due to the fact that we were being scourged while Abasha was getting married to my mate. {Ciril’s POV} I spilled blood and I reigned chaos… .. but then I was only just getting started.Weirdly, there were only a couple of warriors left for me to kill— a litter of about fifteen of them after I had just killed dozens. It was weird because I expected the Alpha Queen to send the entire Garrison after me since she knew I was here.Anyhoo…I punched my claws into the throat of one of the warriors just as he tried to attack me, and with the force of my bashing, his head instantly separated from his body and just stayed there on my claws.I used it to smash into the head of another attempting Cunt— skull collided with skull and they both cracked.“AHHH!” I heard the yell of a new warrior who was trying to be brave as he raced toward me with every aggressiveness he could offer. He got to me but just as he swung his blow for my head, I bent down and swept him off his feet with my hand grabbing his leg. I held him up in the air and growled at the rest of them so that they trembl

{Ciril’s POV} “Woah.”“Oh my...”Those, among several others, were the comments from Clord and Feryt. It was a few hours past midday and the once-clear clouds had suddenly gone dark… because of me. I was raging as I focused my eyes on these very walls that had caged me with gloom and torment. I was heaving now and as a result, Clord and the others knew that the sky’s fury was my doing— a reflection of my grief and rage. It was thundering loudly now and the wind all around us was beginning to grow wilder. I reveled in the pending ChaosI was about to resume my trail towards the Palace but then a voice stopped me. “Ciril?” The voice said beside me now and I instantly veered my gaze to the side to see Feryt. She trembled slightly with my gaze.“What do we do now?” She asked me. She spoke loudly since the wind was getting more fierce by the second and crowding the silence as a result. The skies thundered again.“Stay here.” I said now with my scowl evident on my face. “Stay here until

{Ciril’s POV} I didn’t say a word.I didn’t say a word to any of them. All I did was walk, trek, trudge— all of them. And this made us go faster. At the pace we were going, I calculated that we might actually get to the Palace in a day— or not. After some hours of my ignorance and my fast traveling, they stopped me.By they, I mean the democratic bunch— Feryt, Clord, and Gordius. Feryt was their leader or representative this time around and she crept before me to prevent me from moving forward.I scowled at her when she suddenly appeared before me. “Ciril, we need to talk.” She told me. I shifted to the side and slipped past her, continuing onwards but then she was stubborn so that she trailed after me and blocked my trail again.“Ciril, stop! Just stop and listen, okay?!” She said with a stern tone and was immediately joined by Gordius on her right and Clord on her left. As usual, Gordius was annoyingly confident with his old face while Clord looked frightened by me but then the

{Ciril’s POV} “What?”“What?”Anika and I said simultaneously. Her ‘What’ was the first one. I looked at her just as she looked at me, and then we both looked at Gordius who had initiated the confusion.“Oh, I’m going to like this.” Clord said as he sat down on the ground beside one of the Bears. It growled at him so he shifted away to a new position before refocusing his gaze upon us and smiling.I glared at him. “Stand up. I told you we’re not stopping yet.” I said to him and then I turned to Gordius.“For the last time, stop messing with me, Gordius.” I told him and then I looked between Feryt and Anika. “Let’s keep moving.” I said and then turned to continue on my way. “I’m not messing with you, Ciril.” I heard Gordius’ voice again. “This girl right here is the one who will train you.” I halted. And then I spun around and started trudging to him with my bashful intent— I clenched my fist tight. I was done hearing his voice so it was time to shut him up… since he didn’t want to

Chapter 145 {Ciril’s POV} Morning came, and with it a new creed.A vengeful one. I got up with my heart evidently beating— it knew today marked the beginning of something significant. Something chaotic.I sat outside on a log of wood in between the guards of both of my Bears. I sat there motionlessly and waited for the rest to wake up. And eventually, they did. After several minutes, they strolled out simultaneously to see me seated motionlessly with my eyes closed. I was now meditating. I hated the concept but then yesterday had made me realize that it was an important concept and that Gordius was right. My emotions were controlling me and I needed to work on making it the other way round. I need to be the one in control. But then at the end of the day, I didn’t really care that I was being ruled by my emotions since I could still kill my enemies in that State. I only cared now because I didn’t want anything to jinx my fighting over at the Palace since Gordius said that meditati

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 145 ~ A Reason

{Ciril’s POV} I touched the twin half-love-shaped metal bracelets on my wrist now Erin just gave me the most shocking but relieving news. The Hencher Mistress was alive. All this time I had just been hoping— praying that she hadn’t died that day, but then over time, realization started to sink in and I started to welcome the fact that I may have lost her.— since I had recalled how fatal-looking the wound on her belly was, plus she had betrayed the Palace by helping me and I had left her in the hands of those wretches. All these conditions put together didn’t seem like a combination that the Hencher Mistress would survive in her condition and so I had spent frequent nights crying about it and hating myself for leaving her can there that day. … but now it turns out that I had concluded wrongly. All this while, I had grieved and beaten myself up in vain for the Hencher Mistress was alive. My mother was alive.Fresh tears glossed up my eyes now and Anika and the others noticed this a

{Ciril’s POV} “Why?”“What do you mean?”Anika had stopped me with her words and I was staring at her now, wondering why she was asking to go back to the same dreadful place she had just escaped from.“I mean that we have to return to the Palace because it will be a dire matter if we don’t.” She said now, confusing me the more. Clord, Gordius, and Feryt shifted back to our axis now, seeing that we were not trailing after them anymore.“What’s going on?” Feryt asked and I turned to look at her from my dazement. “She says we have to return to the Palace.” I said, still in confusion.“Wait. What?” Clord said now, stepping forward. “You’re joking, right?” He asked her with an odd laugh and when she didn’t respond, he turned to me.“She’s… she’s joking, right?”I returned my attention back to Anika now. “What’s your reason? I don’t understand what you’re saying, Anika.” I said to her now. “What dire matter are you referring to?”I spoke rather calmly now, and I did so because I didn’t wan

{Ciril’s POV} “Ciril, is that you?”I heard Anika’s voice and almost couldn’t believe it was her voice. It had been so long since I heard her speak. All of us were shocked by her sudden consciousness as we had really lost all hope. I had already lost hope.— all of us had lost hope except Gordius. He didn’t look shocked, and this was because he had trusted his words to the final minute, unlike the rest of us. The rest of us stopped believing him when hours were slipping past and Anika wasn’t responding. But then again, you can’t blame us for not buying his words. I personally had a beef with him and feel like he just says anything he wants to say. I focused my attention on Anika now as she slowly grew back her consciousness.“It’s me, Anika. I’m.. I’m here.” I told her softly now and she blinked before thoroughly focusing her gaze on me.With our eye contact, the roles switched— as she was the one who looked shocked now. She gazed at my face for a while and I noticed that she was

Chapter 142{Ciril’s POV} I didn’t understand what had just happened. One second, I was raging at Gordius for chewing loudly, and then the next, I was shocked from spotting a figure that bore an oddly familiar face. Anika.I didn’t know where she had appeared from and I didn’t know how she had found me, but then these questions weren’t important now. Anika was wounded and unconscious and so the question bobbing in my head as I rushed towards her was, “What I was going to do?”I crashed on the ground beside her body and drew her into my embrace with my heart now racing fast. I didn’t know the answer to my question.I didn’t know what to do. I first had to accept the fact that she was truly here with me and once this fact had settled in, I started to shake her up roughly and call her name.— and while I did this, Gordius was just standing behind me and doing nothing. I noticed this. “What are you doing?!” I bawled at him now. “She’s dying! Go get help!” I roared at him as tears gl
