When I got home after a drive and turned off my car's engine in the driveway my mind was filled with memories of the vacation I had with Vivienne and the kids. That trip was truly unforgettable.

I wasn’t sure where things would go from here, but I didn’t want to think about that just yet.

As I opened the door and stepped inside, the familiar scent of home greeted me. But something felt off. I heard voices coming from the living room, and my stomach tightened.

My parents were here.

I wasn’t expecting them.

“Ezekiel,” my mother, Emily, called out as soon as she spotted me. She was sitting on the couch, looking as prim and proper as ever, sipping tea like she always did when she was about to say something critical.

My father, Leonardo, sat beside her, more relaxed but with that same serious look in his eyes.

“Mom, Dad,” I greeted them, forcing a smile. I already had a feeling where this conversation was going.

“We’ve been waiting for you,” Mom said using her sharp yet calm
