PRESENT DAY

THE MORNING OF CHANDA’S DEATH.

“Oowhoooo.” Velkan howled when he reached the front steps of the house, before changing back into his human form. He had needed to let his wolf run wild, to maybe relieve himself of all this built-up energy he had developed because of Chanda.

The morning sun was just coming out and he craved a bath. He walked up to his room, opened the door and was hit by the most pleasant smell.

“She was here.” He breathed in the warm scent. The thought of Chanda being in his room, close to his bed made his stomach tighten and his cock twitch.

Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to have her clean his chambers, because there is no way he would be able to concentrate on anything with her scent everywhere.

Or was it?

Velkan got into the bathroom, wondering if he could use Chanda being so close to his advantage. She had never resisted him when he touched her, and right now he didn’t see why he had to deny himself and his wolf, the pleasure of having her. He could

“So, you are not a dead wolf?” Chanda asked with awe, looking up at Aurora who stood like a full foot above her.“Me? A wolf?” Aurora sounded offended. “Do I look like a dog? No offence to you.” She added.“I assumed you are since… well, you are in human form too.”“That’s understandable. You wolves aren’t known to be smart.” Aurora smiled wickedly.“Why did the moon goddess send you to me?”“Finally, a good question.” Aurora lets go of Chanda’s hand and floats up in the air. “I am Aurora.” Her voice boomed while she twirled around mid-air. “Guardian of the Underworld realm. The place where lost and vengeful souls come to when they die. I am…”“Vengeful souls?” Chanda interrupted her. “I don’t understand.”“Because I wasn’t finished.” She snapped at Chanda. “Uhh,” she huffed and said softly. “My bad. I’m not known for my good manners. As I was saying,” she continued. “I am blessed with the power to return those lost and vengeful wolfie souls back to life to get their revenge.”“Reveng

I have been on my own since birth.” She lied. One of the men looked at the older man who gave him a nod, before he started walking towards Chanda. “Pretty strange that we have not seen you around here before.”She stepped back more, hands stretched out to the man. “Please, I don’t want no trouble.”“You are in our part of the forest, surely we have to make sure you are saying the truth about not being a spy.”“I’m not.” She insisted, with fear in her voice.“Fang, leave her be.” The other man who had remained quiet since, yelled out. “We have stayed out in the open for too long. We need to get back to base.”“I’m not leaving her here, Jacob.” Fang yelled over his shoulder but his eyes were still locked on

Two months since her lifeless body has been put in the coffin and put in the tomb.Velkan stood in the Luna chambers, staring out the window and down at his pack, watching as different wolves went about their lives. He seemed to find solace being in the room, because it smelled like her.His dead mate. The door squeaked open. “Velkan, you are here.” Leia entered the room.“Mother, I beg of you. Not today.” Ever since Chanda’s death, his mother had given him the cold shoulder and when she spoke to him, it was only to yell and curse at him. He knew she blamed him for Chanda jumping off the cliff and killing herself.“I’m not in the mood to fight either.” She walked to the window and stood beside him. “I didn’t except to see you in here.”“I was just passing by and the door was opened.” He replied, not looking at her. “I can see her things have been brought back from the servant quarters.”“Yes. I ordered for them to be brought back.” Leia

“I can’t believe how peaceful it is here.” Chanda stood on a rock in the flowing river. She and Jacob had gone into the forest to gather wood for the night’s bonfire and were now taking a little break. “The birds singing beautifully in the sky, the smell of nature, this wonderful river.” She squatted down and let the water flow through her hands.Jacob looked up at her from the river bank where he laid. “You seem to really enjoy the water.”“Because it’s free!” She yelled happily. “Free to flow to wherever it desires.” She smiled at him. “Just what I always wished to be. Free.”“Until someone or something comes around, and then blocks the water’s path or changes the direction of its flow.” Jacob sat up and crossed his knees. “Or even worse, claims ownership of it.”“No, no.” She pointed at him, shaking her head. “No negative thoughts. We are not thinking like Fang today.”“Fang only has thoughts of killing.” Jacob said and they both laughed.“Why is he like that?” Chanda asked. “Alway

Okay! The sky is dark enough.” Fang called out to the three other men selected for the night’s hunt. “Get in your truck.”“It smells in here.” Chanda whispered, pulling down the top of the wrap that covered her body in the back of the truck where she hid.As she expected, Fang hadn’t even let Jacob talk about letting her accompany them, immediately shutting him down. So, Jacob had come up with the idea of sneaking her in to the back of the truck he and Fang were driving in.“Shhh. You have to stay quiet or we could get caught.” Jacob scolded her. “I don’t even know why I’m doing this.”“Because you are nice.”“Yeah, yeah.” Jacob grinned and wrinkled his nose. “It does smell in here. But please stay quiet, okay? Once we are far into the woods, you can come out. Even Fang won’t be so heartless to make you go back alone. Alright?” He asked and Chanda nodded in response.“Jacob!” Fang called out, startling them. “Where is Jacob?” He banged on the side of the truck.“Quick. Go back under t

“It’s settled, then.” Aiden’s voice echoed in the tomb, where he stood with Velkan and his mother. They had gone to check on Chanda’s coffin. “The burial will be done in two days from now.” He said, looking between them.“That’s okay.” Leia said, with her head bowed. “She has gone to a better place.”“Lycan?” Aiden turned to Velkan. Velkan just nodded absently. His mind was blank and he felt empty and numb. He has been fighting this feeling since the day they found her body. Even when his wolf, Rex turned cold to him, he hadn’t cared. But now looking at her coffin and talking about burial, he felt like he just realized it.Chanda was really gone. “Velkan?” Aiden touched his arm.Velkan cleared his throat and turned to him. “Get everything ready. So, we can finally put this behind us.”“Great. I need to prepare the official letter for the Elder’s council. I will be in my chambers if you need me.” Aiden bowed to them and left. The half-moon shining dimly in the sky was the first thing Chanda saw when she opened her eyes. She was lying flat on her back, hands and legs bound together. She knew she wasn’t exactly moving, but the hard surface underneath her felt like it was shaking and the sky was going by really fast. She was in a trunk of a moving van.“Ouhh.” She moaned in pain when the movement beneath her made her bump her left foot against something dumped in the corner. She bent her neck down to her left side, so as to make out what it was. It was a little dark, so she could barely see that it was the curved outline of a body.Could it be Jacob’s body? she wondered as the horror of the past few hours came rushing back to her.Sweet, kind, Jacob was killed because of her. “Sweet goddess.” She murmured in despair. What do those bastards need with his body? She squirmed on the floor, trying to shift herself closer, but she mistakenly kicked the body again. This time, it groaned and shifted.“Sweet goddess

Tell me that you are not happy that your former maid, my luna is dead. Tell me you didn’t jump at the slightest opportunity of having your daughter named the new Lycan Luna.” His words were laced with disgust. “Tell me.”“My Lycan.” Sera seemed lost for words. “It’s not…”“It’s exactly what you think, Lycan.” Mia interrupted her mother. “Even though Chanda did a horrible thing just to become your luna, we are not happy she died. She was a dear maid to me and I cared for her very much, so much that I was heartbroken when she betrayed me and brought shame to my family. But I would never wish death on anyone, not especially in the manner she died.”Mia got up and knelt before Velkan. “But life goes on, my Alpha. You need a new Luna and I know very well, that I

I will personally deal with her myself.”“Don’t touch her.” Velkan blurted. “I mean… there is no need.” He said when Snow arched an eyebrow. “It was not intentional like the maid said so don’t worry about it. Besides we have a bigger problem than a defiant female rogue.”A female rogue that should have been sent to the prison and tortured for daring to speak against him, Velkan thought, but he just couldn’t bring himself to harm her. Instead in that moment when he had held her close, it had felt… familiar.“As you wish, my Lycan.” Snow said. “So, what do you want to do?”“There has to be a way to avoid this stupid law.” Velkan sighed and sat on his chair. “Those old wolves think they can order me around and I will just bend

She thought he was still in the room where he had walked out of sight. “I -I was… I-” She couldn’t form words as he leaned down to her face.“Are you dumb?” His eyes blazed with fury. “What are you doing?” Why couldn’t she speak up? Chanda wondered. There was no way she still feared him, especially since he didn’t know who she really was. It had to be the feeling of him so close to her. It was … messing with her head. She stepped back to put some distance between them, but accidently tripped over the tree and fell to the ground.“Lycan!” Snow walked into the hall. “What happened? We heard you a crash from inside. Is everything… Serafina, what are you doing in here?” Snow sounded surprised to see her.Velkan grabbed her right hand and hauled her to her feet. “Serafina,” He echoed her name. “Who sent you to spy on me?”Just like him, Chanda thought. Secondly, our decision to gather together and meet with you personally was done out of respect, your grace.”“My dead luna has not even been put in the ground yet and you are telling me to marry another already.”“That won’t be our fault now, would it?” Hati asked.Velkan picked up a plate next to him and threw against the wall. “You piece of –.” He picked up another, but his mother stopped him before he could haul it directly at Hati’s head.“You need to calm down, my son.”“How can you tell me to be calm? That will be signing my death sentence by myself.”Chanda laughed and sat beside her on the ground.“So… How did you become a rogue?” Mariam asked.“You ask questions a lot. Don’t you?”“I didn’t mean to pry or anything. You seem so strong, like warrior level kind of strong. So, I assumed your pack would have loved to have you as a female gamma.”“Hmm.” Chanda hummed.“You don’t have say anything if you don’t want to. I completely understand.”“I was kicked out of my pack.
