AGAINST HER WILL

Smuggling on her bed with excitement and joy, Hillary looked at the picture of Smith she took while he was in the garden. What a beautiful piece of art she thought.

Without hesitation, Hillary prepared her instruments to draw a portrait of Smith. Looking at the picture she thought it would be a perfect portrait for her latest masterpiece.

Hillary felt obsessed with the picture of Smith how much more Smith Himself.  Hillary stood and went into her art gallery .

Mr. Gray walked into the room and said “I’m getting old for this responsibilities on my shoulder. I think Charlotte should take over the company “  Mrs. Gray in glared at him in  disagreement and retorted “ Charlotte is too naïve and extravagant, she can’t handle such a huge responsibility.

Mr. Gray who is already determined look at his wife and said “ I’ll give her a try. Let’s see what she capable of. Besides I’ll monitor the company’s health. Mr. Gray an automobile engineer, who is an expert at making outstanding cars and vehicles trusted his daughter who studied Business and Economical management’s ability to improve his company’s health and stats.

Charlotte finally knew that the handsome guy she admired at the mall earlier that day was Smith her personal chauffeur and bodyguard. Looking at him with uttermost surprise and shock stood and glared at Smith for few minutes before she turned and leave for the car.

Smith who knew how surprised she was just walked right behind her till she got to the limo, opened the door and slammed it. Smith smiled and entered into the car and drove off to the party. Mrs. Gray who is still doubtful about her husband plight pondered about it hard and long  what if she doesn’t do well? 

Mrs. Gray shoved it past her as she walked on into the living room. She sat in the couch softly turned on the TV and a channel got display a News. It was the news about Damian , Charlotte’s first lover he was arrested for cybercrime and internet hacking.

It was said that Damian early indulgence and love for money led him into studying computer programming. He used this knowledge to hack into Top class businesses account and wired about 80 percent of their  fund into an untraceable account. Damian evil doing was caught when He was about to defraud The Gray’s account.

Mrs. Gray was happy that’s the family’s account was left untouched and she knew the joy Charlotte would have if she find out Damian is in a mess. She smiled and mumbled words as she worked to her bedroom Waking up past 8am , Charlotte was drained from the party she went to the previous night.

Looking at the beautiful sneak of sunshine that peeped past her window she smiled and greeted the world for it’s overwhelming beauty. She took a long thought of how the day would go unknown about the seemingly bad but good and good News about to be announced to her.

She took a cup of  cappuccino which was always prepared before she  wakes up every day. She smiled and walked out of her room . Looking startled by the presence of Smith who was walking towards her direction. He greeted her good morning and asked if there is any outing for that day. Charlotte looked at him and she said “ I’ll let you know If I’ll be leaving the house “  Charlotte was stop on the way as she walked towards the living room by a maid.

She announced to Miss Charlotte as she was usually referred to as that her parents would like to see her one by one. Without hesitation she decided to go see her mum first. Why does dada want to see me ? Is he changing my chauffeur again? She wondered  . Charlotte went to her mother’s room to see her. Is she scolding me again or what is it about this time?

Mrs. Gray who was anxious to tell her daughter the news dragged her to the bed and made her sit. She explained every single details to Charlotte. Charlotte hastily walked to her room picked up her phone to check and confirm the news herself. Charlotte was shock as the news was true and evidential. She felt sad and sober for Damian but a sprout of joy because a tree and she remembered what she face in high school because of her uncultured and ill mannered lover.

She became  so happy that his mischievous act has brought him to face the law. She giggled and smiled till she stepped out to see her father — the only man that Charlotte can argue with.Charlotte walked to her father’s room, knocked but there was no response. She thought of checking the library where he’s fond of staying. She got to the library stood  at the door contemplating on leaving or knocking . Why did he have to call me so urgently ? She said .

Her father don’t call upon people so early in the morning except it was very important. Every board and staff meeting ever held at the company happens early in the morning before work starts fully. 

The intensity and compulsiveness of the message to be passed across determines the time the meeting will be help ranging from 7am to 9 am. Charlotte heard his baritone voice from behind saying “  Go in Charlotte, I’m right behind you “   A tip of fear gripped her as she walked into the library. Her father walked in and stared at her.

He asked her to sit which is very unusual but she sat and asked why he sent for her. Mr. Gray knowing how dramatic his daughter might be spoke to her calmly and softly…“ Charlotte, I’m now of age and I’m becoming weaker as each day passes by. The stress of the company is becoming unbearable for me and I need someone to lift the burdens off my shoulders “ Charlotte was surprised as her father spoke to her about business for the first time in twenty five years.

She was thrilled and in a hurry to answer her father. She thought who would be the perfect heir to the Gray’s business? She wondered which of her cousins would be fit? Who will dad deem fit for the position? Can he trust Smith maybe? She pondered. Meanwhile her father who had it all planned out knew who he wanted already but wanted to hear from his daughter to see what decision and comment she’ll give .

Charlotte answered her father saying… “ Dad , from my perspective a male would be perfect for this position but he’ll be under your supervision and mentorship. I suggest you bring on board the second largest shareholder of the company if he wants” Unknown to Charlotte she was the perfect candidate and has already been elected.

Her father looked at her and thought to himself. When did she become so smart as this? Mr. Gray looked Charlotte straight in the Eyes and said . “ Charlotte, you are the new CEO of the company from Monday you’ll be resuming office as the Chief executive officer and the head of directive.
