Anika’s P.O.V

Three months had passed since my introduction ceremony, and everything in my life had been going well except for my relationship with my sister.

I reflected on the conversation we had on Saturday, the day after my congregation when we visited her at her boarding school.

Andrea reluctantly entered the car and slammed the door. She plopped onto the backseat, her eyes glued to her phone.

It was surprising she agreed to come with us in the first place, as she normally wouldn’t. I considered it an improvement and hoped it would last.

I drove us to the best restaurant in the area, not far from her school. No one said a word during the drive, which made it awkward. It was strange to see how we were acting like strangers even though we were family, but there was nothing I could do about it.

Once inside the restaurant, we were led to the table I had reserved earlier. We sat down, and almost immediately, a waiter came to take our order.

I asked for a simple meal, and

Kelvin’s P.O.V I couldn't believe it when the CEO accused me of being a stalker simply because I accidentally entered her office. I had stayed overnight to finish my work and needed something to keep me awake. I mistakenly pressed the wrong button on the elevator while trying to get snacks from another floor, and didn't realize my mistake until I arrived. I should have trusted my instincts and stayed away from unfamiliar areas, but I foolishly did the opposite and it led me to be labeled as a creep. It was clear that I couldn't win her over; she disliked me and wouldn't believe anything I said. "I'm sorry," I reluctantly admitted. I probably should have stood up for myself, but I was exhausted at that point. Even if I decided to defend myself, it wouldn't change her opinion of me. I thought I had done a good job of avoiding her these past few months, but fate managed to bring us together and put me in a terrible situation whenever I was around her. “You’re sorry? Do you thin

Anika’s P.O.V "Are you certain this is accurate?" I questioned the head of finance, studying the company's account statement form. "Yes, ma'am. The company's funds are missing a total of five hundred million dollars, and we have yet to track it down but I assure you that we will do everything within our power to locate where it went to and bring the money back," the man replied. However, his statement failed to alleviate my concerns; instead, it stoked the flames of frustration within me which turned into anger. "You better find it. I expect results by tomorrow. If not, you and your team will be terminated. I can't believe hackers were able to breach our account. What's the point of having you oversee the company's finances if anyone can easily steal from me? I don't still understand how the fuck they were able to access the account easily without alerting our security measures," I demanded. "They were professionals, ma'am," he admitted. "And are you not a professional? I hired y

Anika’s P.O.V "The finance manager is innocent. He had nothing to do with the missing money; his only mistake was being careless with the company's account," I was informed. "Alright, tell them to release him. You can go," I dismissed them, releasing a sigh as I watched them leave. It had been three weeks, and there was still no progress on the fraud case. The theft had taken a toll on the company, and we were all working tirelessly to recover the stolen funds without raising any suspicions. But so far, our efforts have been in vain. I was doing my best, but it wasn't enough. We needed to brainstorm and find a way to recoup the money before the news got out to the public. That was why I was currently in a meeting with all the department managers, trying to come up with strategies to boost our company's sales and recover the missing funds as quickly as possible. "We could extend employees' working hours to catch up," one of the higher-ups suggested. "But that would mean overwork

Kelvin’s P.O.V As soon as I finished getting dressed following my shower, my landline phone rang. I answered it. “Hello?” I greeted the person on the other end of the line. "Hi, Mr. Anderson, this is Rebecca from the front desk. You have a guest named Anika Downs. She claims to be your boss and wants to see you. Should I allow her in?" the receptionist inquired. I was taken back by the unexpected visit. ‘What is she doing here?’ I pondered. It didn't make sense for the CEO of a highly esteemed company to show up at my apartment hours after publicly humiliating me. "Are you still there, Mr. Anderson?" I snapped out of my thoughts. "Yes, please let her in," I permitted. "Alright, I'll send her up," she confirmed. "Thank you, and have a good day," I hung up the phone. I rubbed my forehead and let out a sigh. That woman was perplexed. I wouldn't allow her actions or words to affect me. I intended to handle the situation perfectly and not tolerate any further insults from her.

Anika’s P.O.V I stopped jogging when I saw a café nearby. I headed towards it, craving caffeine after my run and I needed it for the work I was going to be doing at the office. Entering the café, I ordered coffee and found a seat by the window. As I sipped my drink, I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, accompanied by soft, soothing background music. Fortunately, the café wasn't crowded, so there was minimal noise and disturbance from the few people around me which was barely any disturbance. Lost in my thoughts, I felt a tap on my shoulder, interrupting my peace. I turned back to see my cheating, backstabbing, money-hungry ex-boyfriend Richard, who had betrayed me and caused me so much pain. Choking on my coffee, I coughed uncontrollably. Richard took the coffee from my hand and helped calm me down by patting my back. Once I regained my composure, I ignored him and shrugged his hands off me. I needed time to process his unexpected presence. I wondered how he ended up in the sa

Kelvin's P.O.V We were in the elevator together again, but this time, when the elevator stopped, we headed to her office together. Since we would be working closely, I found out that I would have to share her office. Internally, I groaned at the thought of spending two months with her as if seeing her face once a week wasn't enough. I was definitely going to get in trouble with her. I regretted agreeing to help her. I wished I could take back my statement, but it was too late. She had already informed every board member of my decision, and now I was stuck working with her for at least the next two months. She entered her office, and I followed suit. "This is my office; I'm sure you're already familiar with it," she gave me a look as she dropped her purse on her desk. There was no need for her to remind me of that moment. It was embarrassing to think back to the time when I was considered a creep. "And that is your desk space," She pointed to an office seat identical to hers, not

Kelvin’s P.O.V It was the following day, and I found myself standing in front of her office door, contemplating whether or not to enter. Uncertainty lingered within me, unsure of how she would react after the events of the previous day. Taking a deep breath, I prepared to knock on the door when I caught a glimpse of her voice behind me. "Anderson, you're late," she uttered as she passed by, opening her office door and entering. "I'm only a minute late," I retorted, trailing after her. "Nevertheless, it's still tardiness," she replied, causing me to internally roll my eyes before taking my seat. As I observed her settling down and engrossing herself in her computer work, I noticed that she appeared fine as if yesterday's occurrences had never taken place but I still wanted to be sure if she was alright. "Are you alright?" I inquired, causing her to instantly face me. "Pardon?" "I mean, you seemed rather peculiar yesterday, and-" “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Anderso

Anika’s P.O.V I continued eating as Kelvin abruptly stood up and ran outside to goodness knows where. I didn't care where he was going; it wasn't my concern. I felt a sense of relief when he left the table. I had been on edge around him since yesterday when he saw me in my vulnerable state if it wasn't intentional. I had been overwhelmed by everything happening in my life lately, and that was why I switched up to that state. I needed to calm myself down and make sure no one else knew about that problem. I didn't want anyone, not even my mom, to know that I was struggling. It was embarrassing that the person who witnessed it was someone I disliked but I had to get over it and pretend such an event never happened. I knew I needed help, but I couldn't bring myself to seek it, not when I was busy with the demands of my dad's company and trying to fix the issue at hand. I could only hope that Anderson would keep what he saw a secret. My phone suddenly rang, interrupting my thoughts. I

Her life had been going exceptionally well, surpassing even her expectations, and she couldn't be more thankful. The current chapter of her life had spread out just as she had hoped, bringing her happiness that had been elusive for a long time. She found herself in a state of peace with no drama surrounding her, and she couldn’t be more grateful to the man above. As she reflected on these thoughts, her phone rang, and a smile lit up her face as she saw her sister's name on the screen. Answering the call, she was greeted by the melodious, high-pitched voice of her sister on the other end. "Hey, Anni," Andrea's voice conveyed happiness over the phone, and at that moment, she sensed that something significant had happened. Andrea wasn't always in such a jubilant mood. "Spill the tea. What's got you so excited?" Anika inquired. "How did you know I was about to share something interesting?" Andrea responded. "Because I'm your sister, and I can sense when exciting things happen to you

Anika’s P.O.V My face lit up with happiness, surprise, and curiosity as I attempted to stand. "What are you guys doing here?" I managed to utter, my voice cracking from inactivity. "Anika…" Kelvin said, his voice filled with emotion as he looked at me, tears welling up in his eyes. He rushed forward to hug me, and I couldn't help but cry in response. My eyes then met Andrea, who stood at the entrance with sadness in her eyes. I knew she wanted to hug me but was unsure how. "How did you guys find me?" I asked as Kelvin and I disengaged from the hug. "We'll discuss that later, but now, we have to get out of here before whoever did this to you returns," Kelvin said, helping me stand. I wobbled because I hadn't stood in a long time, and just as I was about to fall due to weak legs, Kelvin steadied me, his hands on my waist, guiding me toward the door. "I swear to god, whoever did this to you is going to pay, I promise," he muttered with anger in his voice as he led me down the sta

Anika’s P.O.V My eyes fluttered open, and I realized I was on the floor. I sat upright, only to be hit with a pounding headache that made me squirm in pain. I cradled my head, attempting to numb the ache until it subsided, which it eventually did. After calming myself, I surveyed my surroundings, furrowing my brows in confusion. I didn't recognize where I was. As I tried to piece together how I ended up in the room, memories flooded back—from being chased to the moment I was drugged, leading to my blackout. Panic set in, and I glanced around the dimly lit, small room. The only light filtered in from a tiny window far from me. I stood up and walked to the door, banging on it desperately. "Help!" I yelled, close to tears, terrified by the unknown kidnapper. "Somebody, please help me! If you're hearing this, help!" I continued, relentlessly pounding on the door, trying to open it in vain. Despite minutes passing with me still banging, I refused to give up. I hit the door with all my

Anika’s P.O.V "I'll be heading to YOLE's for the partnership meeting now, ma'am," Greg informed me as we walked out of the boardroom after we met with the executives. He was about to represent us at another company for a meeting I wouldn't be available for. "Alright then, when will it end?" I asked him. "In four to five hours, I'm not sure, but I'll let you know once I'm done and about the outcome of the meeting. So, adios," he said with a salute as he left, making me chuckle. He was a funny man. As I entered the elevator, about to go to my floor, someone stuck his hand to stop the elevator from closing. It was Kelvin. "Hey," he flashed me a grin as he entered inside and stood next to me. The elevator closed and began to head up. "Sup, I can see you are smiling from ear to ear, and I can assume that your little date last night went well," I raised an eyebrow at him. "You are certainly right, it went well. Vivian is a great person, and I'm happy I went on that date with her becau

I couldn't deny missing him too so I would see him and also check on the company's progress. As I entered the office, I received warm greetings from colleagues. I reciprocated the greetings and could hear the murmurs spreading about the news of my arrival. I rode the elevator to Kelvin’s floor alone without my assistant Greg since I kept my return a secret from him too. I approached Kelvin's secretary after stepping out of the elevator. "Welcome back, ma'am," she greeted and I replied with a smile and asked about Kelvin, hoping he was in his office. "Yes, he is, but—" "Alright, thanks," I interjected and proceeded to Kelvin’s office. As he closed the door, I sighed. I was tired from the day's work but I was used to it since it had become my routine for a long time. With a good salary, I couldn't complain. I found myself in a new role at the company—I had become the manager, a position previously held by Hart before he was fired and sued by Anika for betraying her by aligning with Richard. Despite his years of service before Anika became the CEO. It serves as a reminder to be cautious about whom to trust; not everyone is truly a friend. Taking on this new responsibility was challenging, even though I had been in the position for nearly two years. However, I still felt drained afte

She swiftly exited the store but before she could get away from our sight, Anika tugged at me, and we discreetly trailed her from a distance so we could remain unnoticed by her. “This wasn't my plan; we were supposed to approach her and talk,” I remarked as we followed Anika. “And do you really think she'd willingly talk? She'd bolt the moment she saw me, considering the way she wronged me. Plus, with the news of Richard's takeover of my company, there's no chance she'd agree to a conversation. We need to corner her – who knows if she's still connected to Richard. He might be buying her silence or threatening her. Either way, we have to follow her to her hideout rather than attempting to talk, as you suggested,” Anika explained, making a convincing case as we continued tailing the girl.
