Eric quickly turned away and headed for his destination with Kitten closely following. Finally, he reached the place where the heavy wooden door would lead them down to what was once a wine cellar, but now a cellar designed for better purposes. He was annoyed to have to commend Felipe – his creativity was impressive.

“Give me your hand,” he said to Kitten. Her hands were cold and wet to the touch, but Eric didn't mention it as he stepped into the darkness below. He carefully groped each step and then led the Kitten with him. A few more steps and Eric reached for the light switch. The flickering lights burned brightly, bathing the steps in the soft golden light.

Kitten's tremors became more intense and she squeezed his hand. Even though Eric had gently pulled her, she still didn't take another step down. It seemed that she couldn't move anymore, that was a manifestation of her awareness. However, there were no pleas. No crying. Her fear was clear, but her courage was even more obviou
