Chapter 80

The journey to Buenos Aires was awful.

Ellen was by my side, but she was already far away from me. Again, her stern countenance was her way of protecting herself. I couldn't blame her for not wanting to talk to me. I had been a scoundrel and deserved all the honors of the position, but I still stood my ground. We arrived at the hotel just after three in the afternoon. I asked for just one suite for the two of us. I wanted to spend the remaining time near her, even with the whole situation. She didn't say anything when we entered the room, but I felt obliged to point it out:

- I'm staying here. I have some documents to organize. - I didn't look at her. - You can have the bedroom.

- Thank you for your generosity. - She finally addressed me, her tone sharp.

Then she turned to leave, but I intercepted her:

- We need to talk. - I didn't want to stay in that bad situation with her. - This is going too far.

Ellen stared at me with flaming eyes.
