After a while, Gabriella nodded. "Yes. Think of the challenge as a ticket to get Mia's heart. The bigger challenge you manage to conquer, the easier it will be for you to approach her.”

“But, what if she refuses to give me a challenge?” the man asked doubtfully.

“Why are you so afraid of risk, Julian? Don't be pessimistic if you haven't tried yet."

Hearing his sister-in-law's spontaneous words, the man immediately remembered the debate with Miss Secretary. As consciousness rose, the air in Julian's lungs began to rumble.

"Right. Regardless of whether it's honest or not, I need to improve myself. I have to be a brave man.”

Hearing the seriousness in her brother-in-law's words, the corners of Gabriella's lips curled up.

"Good! Keep that spirit! Now that you have found a solution, feel free to play with your nephew. Relax and unburden your mind for a few moments. I have to take care of something,” the woman s

"So, what challenge have you prepared for me, Mia?" Julian asked with sparkling eyes. The corners of his lips had lifted as high as his spirit."It's still working hour, Sir. Can't you wait until it's time to go home? I don't want to affect the performance of CEO Quebracha.""Affect what?" Julian inquired with slightly furrowed brows.A mysterious smile instantly graced the secretary's face. “I think that challenge will haunt your mind all day. I don't want you to be overwhelmed by it and lose focus."A second later, the man sighed in disbelief. “Are you underestimating me? Don't worry, I won't be affected. After all, we don't have a meeting anymore. So, you can say it now,” Julian answered confidently."Is that so?"Again, the man nodded."Okay," Mia muttered as she pulled out a chair in front of the CEO's desk and sat there.“I have thought of three challenges for you. Each one represents courage, self

“Why are you surprised like that? Is my arrival unexpected?” Herbert asked, succeeding in getting Gabriella to move. Quickly, the woman pulled out the chair beside her for the father-in-law.“Of course we are happy that you come, Dad. Look, Cayden even ignores his porridge,” Gabriella said, smiling at the baby bouncing with pleasure. Little Prince's laughter grew louder as the grandfather stroked his head."You should have told us before coming here. We can have dinner together,” Max said while signaling the servant to prepare an extra plate. While sitting on the chair provided, Herbert chuckled. "No need, Max. I have a dinner appointment after this. Just stopping by to see Cayden," the old man explained before leaning in, meeting the baby gaze peeking at him from behind his mother's body. "So, what are you talking about?"In just an instant, tension was back on the CEO's back. Silently, the man gulped, moistening the suddenl

"If you can't go down the stairs, then you have to jump, Sir," the instructor said with a stiff arch of lips. He was afraid that Julian would feel offended and angry.Acknowledging the truth of those words, Julian grabbed the instructor's arm. "Has anyone ever died jumping from here?" he asked without intonation. The uniformed man's lips immediately threatened to burst into laughter. As best he could, he held back the amusement in his heart. "No, Sir. The facilities and equipment here are guaranteed to be safe.”“Not that, but a heart attack. Is there a case of someone dying from being too scared to jump?” Julian sighed as he clutched his chest as if it had been hit by a hammer."None, Sir," the instructor answered with a reassuring nod.Once again, Julian looked down. The people waiting for his landing were waving faster."Come on, Julian! Don't hesitate!" Gabriella's voice sounded very low.“Don't embarrass C

“Looks like he really can't do it,” Gabriella muttered as she straightened her neck. She'd been up too long. Watching Julian's back was starting to get boring."Right. His courage limit is only up to bungee jumping,” Max nodded as he continued to support Cayden with both hands. The baby was still patiently looking at his uncle hanging from the top of the ride.Meanwhile, the girl standing beside them didn't make a sound at all. Lips that were pale a few minutes ago, had already returned to color. However, her heart was still beating fast, just like when she was dropped into the safety net."The fear up there is no joke. Mister Julian must be in a lot of trouble," she thought with furrowed brows. Before the tension had faded, suddenly, Cayden rambled while pointing upwards. In an instant, all eyes returned to the body that was moving."Wait a minute! Don't let go! My guts haven't gathered yet!" Julian shrieked as he tried to stop t

Mia tapped the table with her finger. Her gaze occasionally turned to the entrance. Whenever she saw that no one had left, a sigh escaped her mouth. “Where is Mr. Julian? Why hasn't he come yet? Is his soul still not fully collected?” the girl muttered before supporting her head with hands. Her brows could no longer hold back a frown. "But yesterday, his condition has improved. He should be back to normal today,” the secretary thought, calming herself down. However, when her gaze fell on the clock, the restlessness weighed on her mind again. “But, Mr. Julian has never been this late. Could it be that … he had a hard time preparing himself?” After a brief silence, Mia shook her head quickly. "That's enough! Don't say too many 'buts'. Thinking about that guy is just a waste of time,” the girl grumbled while focusing her thoughts on the tablet on the table. However, after only a few seconds reviewing the daily schedule, her concentration was inte

“What's the point of having a burly body if you don't have guts? You won't be any different from a peanut shell,” Max said after listening to Julian's story about how the secretary was hypnotized by him. "Right. I fell in love with my husband not because of the burly body, but his heart," Gabriella said while smiling at the man who was holding her hand. Getting such a response, Julian automatically stopped his steps and turned so that his seriousness could be seen more clearly. "But I'm not lying. As soon as Mia held my chest, she was silent. Her eyes were sparkling." "Maybe, she's confused whether to slap you or not. You're the insolent boss," Gabriella teased, successfully making Julian's breath hitched. "Now tell me the truth. Regardless of what made you love Max, haven't you ever been mesmerized by his body?" With pursed lips, the woman rolled her eyes. "Yes. But that's not what determines my decision. “Dear God, please give this servant of Yours courage. I hope I can pass this challenge safely,” Julian whispered, closing his hands and eyes. Seeing the man's behavior, a husband and wife secretly smiled. "How long are you going to pray? Mia is tired of waiting," Max said while maintaining his relaxed pose on the bench. He was comfortable embracing his wife who was holding their son. "That's right, Julian. Come in. God must have heard your prayers. If you're scared, just hold Mia's hand,” Gabriella said while accompanying Cayden to play with the new teddy. The baby no longer cared about his uncle. Hearing the advice of the sister-in-law, Julian opened his eyes. “Do you think Mia will allow me to hold her hand?” he whispered before glancing at the girl waiting near the entrance. "Just ask her," Gabriella said lightly. After a sigh, the CEO finally clapped his hands and nodded. "Okay! I will deal with it now. Pray for me!" he exc

"What's wrong with Mia?" Gabriella asked wide-eyed. After handing the baby on her lap to her husband, she rushed to help Julian carrying the secretary to the bench. “Mia said someone grabbed her leg, but there's nothing. Maybe she was too scared to hallucinate,” Julian explained before taking a kneeling position in front of the secretary. After noticing the girl's blank stare, he sighed. "I have to buy a drink for her." "Let me do it. You stay here to take care of Mia,” Gabriella said as she patted herself. Without waiting for approval, the woman slid toward the rows of food stands. After Gabriella left, Julian's gaze returned to Mia's pale face. The girl was still struggling to catch her breath. Wrinkles that are rarely shown, were clearly visible at the base of her eyebrows. "Hey, we're safe. You have nothing to fear anymore," Julian said softly. Unfortunately, the girl did not answer. She only maintained an uneasy look that made anyone who

"Whoa!" Cayden sighed as his father placed him on the back of a pony. With round eyes, he surveyed his height from the ground. Even though it was not much, the toddler in the cowboy hat still showed a happy smile. “How is it, Little Evans? Are you happy?” the woman who held the horse's rein asked. Not daring to move much, Cayden nodded at a limited angle. "Yes, Greta. I am happy. It's thrilling!” he answered enthusiastically. “Thrilling?” Gabriella muttered, furrowing an eyebrow. While continuing to rock her niece, the woman expressed astonishment. “Where did you learn that word, Little Prince?” "Daddy often mentions it," the toddler replied, successfully making his father wince. "Daddy said that the nights spent with Mom were always thrilling." As Gabriella glared at her husband, Greta burst out laughing. "Gosh, Max. I think you should be more careful now. Your genius son can absorb all the words you speak.” "Right. I'll be more caref

"If you kept avoiding me, I would really quit the company," Julian said, successfully freezing Mr. Hunt's steps. The old man was then blinking, digesting the words he thought he heard wrong. “Actually, my position as a CEO is being threatened for some reasons. I tried to keep it a secret from all of you. I didn't even let Mia know. But as it turned out, it wasn't easy at all. My mind became adrift. And because the burden was too heavy, my emotions finally exploded. I'm so sorry it had to happen in front of you." Hearing the tone that seemed honest, Mr. Hunt slowly turned his focus. Two seconds later, he saw the tears slide from the grandson's eyes. "I've tried to be strong and tough, Grandpa. I thought I could solve all problems. But it turns out, I haven’t found any solution yet. That's why I was angry when I failed to find Grace and you at the cemetery. It got me think that I am a useless man," Julian explained with the gloomy eyes landed on the grass.

“Tsk, why does Grandpa run away like this? It just makes me feel even guiltier,” Julian grumbled between gasping breaths. Holding on to Mr. Hunt's message, he walked down the tree-lined path. “What should I do if Grandpa isn't there? Where should I look for him?” the man thought as he couldn't erase the wrinkles from his face. The burden in his heart was too heavy to ignore. After a few moments of struggling with the noise in his brain, Julian finally shook his head and blinked strongly. "No, no. Grandpa must be there. I'll take him home and things will automatically return to the way they were before," the man nodded, fostering hope. Ignoring the anxiety that kept swirling in his mind, he went faster. Unfortunately, as soon as Julian passed the cemetery gates, his steps were frozen. His jaw was dropping while his eyelids were lifted to the maximum. What he had hoped for quickly turned into disappointment. "No way! This is impossible!” he curs

"Dad," Cayden called quietly. A second later, the toddler handed Max a piece of bread that had been cleaned of jam. "I'm already full," he continued with a meaningful smile.Understanding the son's intentions, Max spontaneously raised an eyebrow. "Do you want me to finish your bread again?"While showing two rows of tiny teeth, Cayden nodded. After a faint exhalation, the father began to vibrate the air with laughter."Gaby, look at what Little Prince did! I just don't want Grandpa’s mistake to happen again," the man said with frown on his face."Yes, I know," Mia replied with the same thin voice. “But you can do it without hurting Grandpa's feelings, Julian. This matter can be discussed amicably.”While gritting his teeth, Julian shook his head. Confusion had returned to cover his eyes. “What should I do now? I already made Grandpa sad.""Apologize?" Mia answered with a grimace."Is that enough?" the man asked doubtfully. He began to realize that his anger had indeed crossed the line.Pondering, the woman nodded. “As long as it's sincere, Grandpa will definitely forgive you. “Greta, have you prepared delicious toast for us?” Cayden asked as the hostess opened the door wider to welcome him. Seeing her father was still able to walk, the woman with high arch of the brows spontaneously sighed in relief. After shaking her head for a moment, she turned her gaze to the toddler who was still holding Mr. Hunt's hand and waiting for her response. "Of course I have. There is also strawberry jam for you. "Sorry, Julian. I took Grace to see your grandmother for a while. Now, I intend to take her home. We're not wandering around or straying like you said," Mister Hunt explained with an indescribable expression. Even so, his hoarse voice was able to touch the hearts of the listeners, apart from his grandson. "But the way home is over there, Grandpa!" Julian snapped, still with eyebrows raised to the max. The young man didn't feel sorry at all for the hunched back that was getting weighed down by guilt. "I really can’t understand what’s on your mind. Don't you realize that your recklessness can lead to trouble? Didn't we agree to go together? Why did you secretly take Grace away?” he continued, thickening the wrinkles on his grandfather's forehead. Sensing her father's anger, Little Princess began to furrow her brows. Arriving at the cemetery, Julian was taken aback. What he saw was completely beyond expectation. There were no old man and baby among the tombstones. The grandfather and Grace left absolutely no trace. "This is impossible," Julian muttered as he quickened his pace. Neglecting his initial attempt to remain calm, the man sped toward the direction Greta had given. After searching for a while, he finally found the grandmother's name on one of the stones. “Right, this is the place. They should be here," Julian sighed, sounding desperate. With deep furrows, he circled around, trying to find any trace of either his daughter or Grandpa Hunt. Unfortunately, as far as the eye could see, the two remained off the radar. Confusion instantly grew bigger in Julian’s mind. "Tsk, how could it be like this?" he grumbled while clutching his head. Knowing that irritation, Mia gently touched her husband's arm. She knew that the man had failed to control hi

Carefully, Mr. Hunt wiped his great-granddaughter's cheek. Grace's red eyes no longer shed sadness. However, the old man still felt guilty for making the baby cry. "I'm sorry, Grace. I should have walked more calmly so you wouldn't wake up," he whispered in between his ragged breaths. After her face had been dry, Grace rested her head on Mister Hunt's shoulder. Blinking slowly, she pursed her lips. The furrow of her tiny brows indicated that she still wanted to roll up in the blanket on the crib. The baby wondered why she was with her great-grandfather, sitting on a long bench at the edge of a path. “When I was young, I only need fifteen minutes to arrive at your great-grandmother's grave. But now, why does it feel so long and tiring?” Mr. Hunt grumbled as he wiped his forehead with one hand. After one quick breath, the old man stood up again and held Grace in his languid arms. Although the baby was a bit heavy, his lips still curled up warmly.
