As soon as he saw the frozen sadness in the trembling eyes, Julian's joy suddenly evaporated. Without wasting time, the man approached the girl and held her shoulders.

"Mia? Why are you crying?” he asked with deep furrowed brows.

Realizing the CEO's concern, Mia quickly dried her face. "Nothing, Sir."

“If it's nothing, there's no way you're crying like this. Did my father threaten you? Did he say something that hurt your feelings?” Julian inquired while lowering his gaze, trying to catch the look in the eyes that were trying to avoid him.

"I'm really fine, Sir," Mia replied, lifting the corners of her heavy lips. As fast as lightning, she racked the brains to come up with a plausible reason. “Earlier, Mr. Herbert introduced me to a model. She told me about her struggles in life. Her story touched my heart. That's why I cried."
