After a while, Max finally gave his wife a chance to breathe. Holding breath through a relieved smile, he stroked the face that was still shrouded in confusion.

"Why are your cheeks so red? We've done it many times."

Gabriella didn't answer. She was still looking for an answer that could not be found. “Why did Max kiss me? Is it to divert fear?”

Not getting a response, the man returned to greet Gabriella's tenderness. The movements were still the same, slow and full of interest. Not a bit of pleasure he missed. That reality made the woman furrow her brows deeper.

"No. This man is not afraid. Then why did he kiss me? Is it lust?”

In confusion, Gabriella studied her husband's hand. Sometimes Max held her cheek, sometimes the big palm moved to the nape of her neck.

"No. It's not out of lust. So, what?"

Until the cabin they were in reached the bottom, Gabriella still didn't get an answer. Even when she stepped like a rob

“Cold, Max,” Gabriella moaned as her husband placed a scoop of ice cream over her left button. The woman's brows furrowed uncomfortably, as her hands clenched into fists. "Be patient," the man said before placing the almost frozen container on the table. A second later, instead of cleaning the food that had begun to melt, Max brushed the right button with his tasting organ. "Are you testing my patience? It's cold, Max," Gabriella said before biting her lip. Since her husband was an expert in provoking sighs, she had to be more careful in choosing the time to talk. Otherwise, the man's instincts would immediately burn. "To be able to compare, I have to know the original flavor first," Max chirped, deliberately stalling for time. "Then hurry up! You've tried the original long enough.” Gabriella's insistence succeeded in making her husband widen in disbelief. "This is the first time you've asked me to rush devouring you, Mrs Evans." The w

Once the bedroom door was opened, Gabriella stared at her husband who suddenly got up from the edge of the bed. After placing the phone on the table, Max scratched the back of his head then pointed towards the bathroom. "Let me take a shower first," he said in a strange tone. The woman blinked flatly. The husband's behavior had raised questions that are reluctant to be disclosed. "Just do it. I will not take the shower from you," Gabriella said as if she didn't care. A second later, Max nodded and rushed into the bathroom. His hasty steps made his wife even more curious. "What's wrong with him?" Without thinking, Gabriella stepped towards her husband's previous position. From there, she could see two teddies placed side by side on the bed and his cell phone on the table. "Is he hiding something from me?" thought the woman as she took the cell phone. Sitting on the edge of the bed, she examined it carefully. Call history, incomi

"If I love you, what will you do?" Max threw back the question that caused a huge explosion in Gabriella's heart. The woman didn't realize that the arch of her eyebrows had almost matched that of an umbrella.“I never thought about it. So, I don't know,” Gabriella answered with a flat expression.Seeing his wife's adorable response, Max automatically smiled. "If you've never thought about it, then how come you can conclude that I love you?"The woman shook her head in denial. "I am just asking. Your recent attitude makes me feel ....” Gabriella's words were interrupted by the thought that had just occurred to her. After blinking in disbelief and tilting her head, she continued speaking in a questioning tone. "That you care about me?""So, you finally want to admit that I do care about you?" Max teased while raising the corner of his lips.Gabriella's expression suddenly turned doubtful. "Not really. You're usually kind because you

"Do you expect that I really love you?" Max said while supporting his head with one hand. The smile beneath his narrowed eyes managed to intimidate Gabriella. "Don't hope. It's just, I have the right to know that you do have feelings for me," the woman said with an awkward blink. She didn't know if her tone was right or not. But, she was already trying her best to sound firm. For a few moments, the couple stared at each other in silence. The two of them read each other's eyes that were both doubtful. "So, do you expect love from me?" Max asked breaking the silence. Looking at the lopsided smile on the man's face, annoyance grew rapidly in Gabriella's heart. With furrowed brows, she protested. "You always throw back questions from me. Are you afraid that your true feelings will be exposed? Or do you really like to make me wonder?” Instead of being intimidated, the curve of the man's lips grew wider. “If you're wondering, doesn't that mean you t

"If you are still unsure of Mister's feelings, pay attention to the way he looks at you. Mister has never looked at anyone with such a warm gaze before." Gabriella lowered her head and closed her eyes, remembering the butler's words. It had been more than half a day, those words were circling in her mind. However, logic still refused to believe. "There's no way that man loves me. He is always angry and calls me troublesome. Neither one of my traits fit his criteria,” the woman muttered while propping her chin against the window. The scenery outside was still the same as ten minutes ago. The fence was tightly closed without a single car passing. "And why doesn't Max come home yet? Is he really avoiding me?” Gabriella grumbled before letting out a resigned sigh. “Today is really boring,” she mumbled with pursed lips. After a moment of silence, the woman turned towards the bed. Two teddies looked like they were waiting for their master.

"Whoa!" Cayden sighed as his father placed him on the back of a pony. With round eyes, he surveyed his height from the ground. Even though it was not much, the toddler in the cowboy hat still showed a happy smile. “How is it, Little Evans? Are you happy?” the woman who held the horse's rein asked. Not daring to move much, Cayden nodded at a limited angle. "Yes, Greta. I am happy. It's thrilling!” he answered enthusiastically. “Thrilling?” Gabriella muttered, furrowing an eyebrow. While continuing to rock her niece, the woman expressed astonishment. “Where did you learn that word, Little Prince?” "Daddy often mentions it," the toddler replied, successfully making his father wince. "Daddy said that the nights spent with Mom were always thrilling." As Gabriella glared at her husband, Greta burst out laughing. "Gosh, Max. I think you should be more careful now. Your genius son can absorb all the words you speak.” "Right. I'll be more caref

"If you kept avoiding me, I would really quit the company," Julian said, successfully freezing Mr. Hunt's steps. The old man was then blinking, digesting the words he thought he heard wrong. “Actually, my position as a CEO is being threatened for some reasons. I tried to keep it a secret from all of you. I didn't even let Mia know. But as it turned out, it wasn't easy at all. My mind became adrift. And because the burden was too heavy, my emotions finally exploded. I'm so sorry it had to happen in front of you." Hearing the tone that seemed honest, Mr. Hunt slowly turned his focus. Two seconds later, he saw the tears slide from the grandson's eyes. "I've tried to be strong and tough, Grandpa. I thought I could solve all problems. But it turns out, I haven’t found any solution yet. That's why I was angry when I failed to find Grace and you at the cemetery. It got me think that I am a useless man," Julian explained with the gloomy eyes landed on the grass.

“Tsk, why does Grandpa run away like this? It just makes me feel even guiltier,” Julian grumbled between gasping breaths. Where should I look for him?” the man thought as he couldn't erase the wrinkles from his face. The burden in his heart was too heavy to ignore. After a few moments of struggling with the noise in his brain, Julian finally shook his head and blinked strongly. "No, no. Grandpa must be there. I'll take him home and things will automatically return to the way they were before," the man nodded, fostering hope. Ignoring the anxiety that kept swirling in his mind, he went faster. Unfortunately, as soon as Julian passed the cemetery gates, his steps were frozen. His jaw was dropping while his eyelids were lifted to the maximum. What he had hoped for quickly turned into disappointment. "No way! This is impossible!” he curs

"Dad," Cayden called quietly. A second later, the toddler handed Max a piece of bread that had been cleaned of jam. Mia answered with a grimace."Is that enough?" the man asked doubtfully. He began to realize that his anger had indeed crossed the line.Pondering, the woman nodded. “As long as it's sincere, Grandpa will definitely forgive you. “Greta, have you prepared delicious toast for us?” Cayden asked as the hostess opened the door wider to welcome him. "Sorry, Julian. I took Grace to see your grandmother for a while. Now, I intend to take her home. Even so, his hoarse voice was able to touch the hearts of the listeners, apart from his grandson. "But the way home is over there, Grandpa!" Julian snapped, still with eyebrows raised to the max. The young man didn't feel sorry at all for the hunched back that was getting weighed down by guilt. "I really can’t understand what’s on your mind. Don't you realize that your recklessness can lead to trouble? Didn't we agree to go together? Why did you secretly take Grace away?” he continued, thickening the wrinkles on his grandfather's forehead. Sensing her father's anger, Little Princess began to furrow her brows. Arriving at the cemetery, Julian was taken aback. What he saw was completely beyond expectation. There were no old man and baby among the tombstones. The grandfather and Grace left absolutely no trace. "This is impossible," Julian muttered as he quickened his pace. Neglecting his initial attempt to remain calm, the man sped toward the direction Greta had given. After searching for a while, he finally found the grandmother's name on one of the stones. “Right, this is the place. They should be here," Julian sighed, sounding desperate. With deep furrows, he circled around, trying to find any trace of either his daughter or Grandpa Hunt. Unfortunately, as far as the eye could see, the two remained off the radar. Confusion instantly grew bigger in Julian’s mind. "Tsk, how could it be like this?" he grumbled while clutching his head. Knowing that irritation, Mia gently touched her husband's arm. Carefully, Mr. Hunt wiped his great-granddaughter's cheek. Grace's red eyes no longer shed sadness. However, the old man still felt guilty for making the baby cry. "I'm sorry, Grace. I should have walked more calmly so you wouldn't wake up," he whispered in between his ragged breaths. After her face had been dry, Grace rested her head on Mister Hunt's shoulder. Blinking slowly, she pursed her lips. The furrow of her tiny brows indicated that she still wanted to roll up in the blanket on the crib. The baby wondered why she was with her great-grandfather, sitting on a long bench at the edge of a path. “When I was young, I only need fifteen minutes to arrive at your great-grandmother's grave. But now, why does it feel so long and tiring?” Mr. Hunt grumbled as he wiped his forehead with one hand. After one quick breath, the old man stood up again and held Grace in his languid arms. Although the baby was a bit heavy, his lips still curled up warmly.
