“Mia, have you seen Gabriella?” Max asked as soon as he left the room.

"I saw her following Mr. Sebastian." Her index finger pointed towards the room of the man she mentioned.

The CEO's eyes spontaneously opened wide. "What are they doing?"

The secretary could only grin. “I … don't know, Sir. I just told Mr. Sebastian about—”

Max already walked away with his brows furrowed in displeasure.

“How dare that woman accuse me of wanting to divorce her, whereas she's with another man,” the CEO muttered with his fists tightly clenched. He didn't notice that he breath had turned heavy.

Unlike the door to his room which was completely made of wood, there was a transparent glass box on the door of the secretary's room. As soon as Max peeked from there, Gabriella was seen sitting opposite Sebastian who was laughing casually.

"Since when did they become friends?" Max thought before snorting.

Before he could reach the doorknob, his he

At five in the afternoon, Max finally returned to the room. With a sour look and a wheezing breath, he stared at the door that separated him from his wife. "Has she finished the task or has she run off with another man?" the man guessed as he had been blinded by jealousy. Roughly, he opened the door. A second later, his eyes widened. There was only a sheet of paper on the table and a small bag at its corner. The roar of the man's breath automatically grew wilder. "She dared to disobey my orders?" Wasting no time, Max sped into the next room. "If she's really there, don't expect me to apologize." Suddenly, Sebastian came out of the room carrying a bag. When he saw the CEO, his eyebrows arched high. "What's the matter, Max? Is there something urgent we need to discuss?” the secretary asked with a flat blink. "Are you going home already?" the man inquired with the suspicious furrowed brow. "Yes, my work is done. Wh

"Tsk, what should I do?" Max thought as he ruffled his hair. That man's gaze was still fixed on the back that shook in sorrow. "Am I being too hard on her?" After a few seconds, Gabriella was still curled up in tears. Her sad sobs made Max's heart more uneasy. Grinning, the man considered the situation. "Should I calm her down?" he muttered doubtfully. After taking a deep breath, Max finally lifted his wife. Unexpectedly, Gabriella's crying stopped in surprise. Her red eyes were then fixed on her husband, full of questions. Every now and then, her shoulders jerked with the remnants of sobs. "No need to be surprised. I just don't want you to bother me anymore,” Max said as he led his wife to the sofa. There, he gently lowered Gabriella and handed her the lunch box. “Eat! Auntie has kindly delivered it to you." A second later, Max returned to the secret room, leaving the woman in amazement. "Is he not mad at me anymore?"

All the way to the airport, Max couldn't stop observing his wife. Gabriella looked cheerful, very different from usual. "What happened in that room? Why did she suddenly forget her sadness while her eyes are still swollen?" the man thought, pretending to focus on his tablet. Arriving on the plane, something more surprising came. The woman suddenly grabbed Max's hand as the plane was about to take off. "What are you doing?" the man whispered, unable to hide his astonishment any longer. "Doesn't this make you comfortable?" Gabriella said with adorable round eyes. The husband could not even blink at her. After one breath, Max put his palm on his wife's forehead. "You don't have a fever," he muttered after detecting a normal body temperature. Confusion was piling higher and higher in his mind. "I'm fine. Don't worry. I won't bother you anymore," Gabriella whispered before looking out the window. There was absolutely no sadn

As soon as he got out of the bathroom, Max was wide-eyed because he just found Cherry on the bed. After looking around and still not finding his wife, an annoyed sigh wafted from his mouth. “Why did she leave her husband with another woman? Is she completely heartless?” the man grumbled before looking at Cherry with disgust. “This woman … always troubles me. Tsk, I should have just let her cry in the lobby. She's the one who canceled the marriage, but why am I the one who get trouble? If I didn't try to be a good friend, I would have enjoyed a peaceful dinner." A second later, Max's eyebrows were pushed up. His words just reminded him of the promise to his wife. Quickly, he turned to face the table which was already full of dishes. An incredulous sigh immediately floated in the air. “Why did she return to her room? Does she want to let me have a dinner alone?” the man grumbled as he walked over to the surprise prepared by his wife. As soon as

Witnessing such a reaction, Max's guilt suddenly doubled. While furrowing his brows, he tried to touch his wife's shoulder. "Gabriella, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been rude to you," Max said with a dry tongue. The woman did not answer. She continued to wash her wounded heart with tears. “I really went too far. Please forgive me." Again, Gabriella was silent. Her sadness was too great to accept the apology she doubted. Getting no response, Max sighed in resignation. Gently, he embraced the woman. “What can I do to heal you?” the man whispered while stroking his wife's hair. A few seconds passed, Gabriella was still sobbing in the warm arms. The woman was too tired to deal with the situation. Silence or resistance, both of them were not able to get rid of the tightness. Suddenly, Max was moved to grab his wife's fingers. As soon as the soft palm opened, the man's heart broke. Three slashes had pulled him into a deep abys

"Would you like to help me find a woman like that?" Max asked, testing his wife's curiosity."I just want to be more careful the next time I meet the woman of your dream," Gabriella replied with a straight face.Seeing that seriousness, the corner of Max's lips curled up. "Okay, take a note. I like a woman who is soft-hearted, peaceful, independent, and doesn't bother other people."Gabriella's brows automatically furrowed. "Are you making fun of me?" the woman asked in a displeased tone.Max immediately shook his head. "No. That's really the criteria for my ideal woman. Besides, I like sweet, innocent, not vindictive—""Okay, that's enough. I already know. An idea suddenly crossed Gabriella's mind, the one that she was reluctant to admit. "There's no way Max loves me. He must be talking nonsense. Max Evans won't understand what Snowy means to me. He shouldn't use my teddy as an analogy," the woman thought before asking doubtfully. "What do you mean?" "Don't you think our lives are similar? You have to fight alone without anyone to support you sincerely.” The woman stared at Max's words. It was the first time she had heard her husband being so open and honest. “Then, what does it have to do with my teddy?” Gabriella inquired with furrowed brows. Max's bitter smile added her confusion again. “You're lucky to have Snowy who can calm your restlessness. When you cry and need strength, you can immediately hug him. But I … I didn't have anyone before you came.” A strange feeling suddenly filled Gabriella's heart. "Before I came?" she murmured, accompanied

As soon as she opened her eyes, Cherry immediately groaned and held her heavy head. The smell of alcohol wafted from her breath made a frown. However, as soon as her brain checked memory, the woman's eyes opened wide. “Does my plan work? He doesn't know my lie, does he?” A second later, Cherry looked around. The corners of her lips pulled up when she found her bare body under the blanket. “Apparently, my plan works,” she muttered before giggling coquettishly. “But, where's Max? And, why is this room so dark?” the lady thought as she watched the thick curtain that blocked the sunlight. Suddenly, there was a sound of the door opening. "Whoa!" Cayden sighed as his father placed him on the back of a pony. With round eyes, he surveyed his height from the ground. Even though it was not much, the toddler in the cowboy hat still showed a happy smile. “How is it, Little Evans? Are you happy?” the woman who held the horse's rein asked. Not daring to move much, Cayden nodded at a limited angle. "Yes, Greta. I am happy. It's thrilling!” he answered enthusiastically. “Thrilling?” Gabriella muttered, furrowing an eyebrow. While continuing to rock her niece, the woman expressed astonishment. “Where did you learn that word, Little Prince?” "Daddy often mentions it," the toddler replied, successfully making his father wince. "Daddy said that the nights spent with Mom were always thrilling." As Gabriella glared at her husband, Greta burst out laughing. "Gosh, Max. I think you should be more careful now. Your genius son can absorb all the words you speak.” "Right. I'll be more caref

"If you kept avoiding me, I would really quit the company," Julian said, successfully freezing Mr. Hunt's steps. The old man was then blinking, digesting the words he thought he heard wrong. “Actually, my position as a CEO is being threatened for some reasons. I tried to keep it a secret from all of you. I didn't even let Mia know. But as it turned out, it wasn't easy at all. My mind became adrift. And because the burden was too heavy, my emotions finally exploded. I'm so sorry it had to happen in front of you." Hearing the tone that seemed honest, Mr. Hunt slowly turned his focus. Two seconds later, he saw the tears slide from the grandson's eyes. "I've tried to be strong and tough, Grandpa. I thought I could solve all problems. But it turns out, I haven’t found any solution yet. That's why I was angry when I failed to find Grace and you at the cemetery. It got me think that I am a useless man," Julian explained with the gloomy eyes landed on the grass.

“Tsk, why does Grandpa run away like this? It just makes me feel even guiltier,” Julian grumbled between gasping breaths. Where should I look for him?” the man thought as he couldn't erase the wrinkles from his face. The burden in his heart was too heavy to ignore. After a few moments of struggling with the noise in his brain, Julian finally shook his head and blinked strongly. "No, no. Grandpa must be there. I'll take him home and things will automatically return to the way they were before," the man nodded, fostering hope. Ignoring the anxiety that kept swirling in his mind, he went faster. Unfortunately, as soon as Julian passed the cemetery gates, his steps were frozen. His jaw was dropping while his eyelids were lifted to the maximum. What he had hoped for quickly turned into disappointment. "No way! This is impossible!” he curs

"Dad," Cayden called quietly. A second later, the toddler handed Max a piece of bread that had been cleaned of jam. This matter can be discussed amicably.”While gritting his teeth, Julian shook his head. Confusion had returned to cover his eyes. “What should I do now? I already made Grandpa sad.""Apologize?" Mia answered with a grimace."Is that enough?" the man asked doubtfully. He began to realize that his anger had indeed crossed the line.Pondering, the woman nodded. “As long as it's sincere, Grandpa will definitely forgive you. “Greta, have you prepared delicious toast for us?” Cayden asked as the hostess opened the door wider to welcome him. Seeing her father was still able to walk, the woman with high arch of the brows spontaneously sighed in relief. After shaking her head for a moment, she turned her gaze to the toddler who was still holding Mr. Hunt's hand and waiting for her response. "Of course I have. There is also strawberry jam for you. Are you hungry?” Greta asked while faking a smile. “Not me, but Grandpa. I heard the sound of his breathing all the way. Grandpa is very tired! He should eat a lot of bread," Cayden said with his trademark expression—round eyes and pursed lips. While stroking her son's head, Gabriella bent her knees. "Sorry, Julian. I took Grace to see your grandmother for a while. Now, I intend to take her home. We're not wandering around or straying like you said," Mister Hunt explained with an indescribable expression. Even so, his hoarse voice was able to touch the hearts of the listeners, apart from his grandson. "But the way home is over there, Grandpa!" Julian snapped, still with eyebrows raised to the max. The young man didn't feel sorry at all for the hunched back that was getting weighed down by guilt. "I really can’t understand what’s on your mind. Don't you realize that your recklessness can lead to trouble? Didn't we agree to go together? Why did you secretly take Grace away?” he continued, thickening the wrinkles on his grandfather's forehead. Sensing her father's anger, Little Princess began to furrow her brows. The baby had never heard such a loud voice. When her eyes fell on Mr. Hunt's gloomy face, she spontaneously pouted. A second later, her heavy cry b

Arriving at the cemetery, Julian was taken aback. What he saw was completely beyond expectation. There were no old man and baby among the tombstones. The grandfather and Grace left absolutely no trace. "This is impossible," Julian muttered as he quickened his pace. Neglecting his initial attempt to remain calm, the man sped toward the direction Greta had given. After searching for a while, he finally found the grandmother's name on one of the stones. “Right, this is the place. They should be here," Julian sighed, sounding desperate. With deep furrows, he circled around, trying to find any trace of either his daughter or Grandpa Hunt. Unfortunately, as far as the eye could see, the two remained off the radar. Confusion instantly grew bigger in Julian’s mind. "Tsk, how could it be like this?" he grumbled while clutching his head. Knowing that irritation, Mia gently touched her husband's arm. Carefully, Mr. Hunt wiped his great-granddaughter's cheek. Grace's red eyes no longer shed sadness. However, the old man still felt guilty for making the baby cry. "I'm sorry, Grace. I should have walked more calmly so you wouldn't wake up," he whispered in between his ragged breaths. After her face had been dry, Grace rested her head on Mister Hunt's shoulder. Blinking slowly, she pursed her lips. The furrow of her tiny brows indicated that she still wanted to roll up in the blanket on the crib. The baby wondered why she was with her great-grandfather, sitting on a long bench at the edge of a path. “When I was young, I only need fifteen minutes to arrive at your great-grandmother's grave. But now, why does it feel so long and tiring?” Mr. Hunt grumbled as he wiped his forehead with one hand. After one quick breath, the old man stood up again and held Grace in his languid arms. Although the baby was a bit heavy, his lips still curled up warmly.
