Hunter's apartment:-

"Let some things be a secret for time being, N. Once I accomplish what I aim. I'll tell you everything in detail." Hunter, cleverly, avoided answering the question.

"That's not fair. You told me you'll tell me soon." N whined, making Hunter chuckle.

He racked his fingers through his hair and leaned back on the chair.

"I'm not going back on my words, buddy. As promised, I'll tell you soon." Teasingly, he said.

"You and your promises!" He heard N complaining and it did nothing but to make him laugh more.

"Okay. Leave that topic. I have something else to tell you." He added, diverting the topic of conversation.

"What is it?" N sounded grumpy, still eager to know.

"As you advised, I gifted her the books." As soon as Hunter revealed, N squealed in excitement.

"Oh My God. She must have been happy to receive them. I mean you put an extra effort in them."

"She was happy, but her reaction was somewhat off." And then Hunter narrated the incident from that evening.

Viaan's voice boomed in the kitchen, making her stop abruptly. With her eyes squeezed, instantly, she bit her tongue as if he caught her stealing cookies. "Oh, I think I know what you're laughing at." She heard him say mischievously and opened her eyes; ready to face him.Chewing her lips, Kiara spun slowly. There he was, leaning on the door frame with a naughty smirk.Feigning an oblivious face, she asked. "What?" "What?" The playfulness in his voice turned her ears pink. His smirk widened with her reaction. However, not to let him enjoy it at her expense, she rubbed her ears on the pretext of keeping her hair in place. "Why are you smirking like that?" Asked Kiara, pushing her bangs behind her ear. "Perhaps you know that reason!" He replied, straightening himself; Viaan took slow steps towards her, making her feel every single inch closing between them. She avoided meeting his gaze, feeling timid yet gooey."Perhaps I don't know."

He pressed her back against his front, standing her still. This brought her laughter to a steady stop. Kiara inhaled and exhaled deeply, filling in the air. However the act only irked Viaan more when he saw her smiling playfully instead of answering."If you're done laughing like a maniac, tell me the reason." His grumbling tone makes his girl chuckle."It's so easy to rule you up." "What was a funny imagination you said? Why were you laughing like that?" Ignoring her comment, he repeated his question."What you said was a funny imagination." Next morning:-"Kia, boss is calling you." Robin tapped on Kiara's desk, getting her attention. He was standing on the threshold, holding the door half open. She lifted her head up hearing Robin's voice all of a sudden. A frown etched on her face when he completed. "He has come today?" She asked, trying to sound normal."Yes, and go fast because he has to leave too," Robin replied, Having no other option left, she nodded. Robin left there and Kiara kept her laptop on sleep, before pushing her chair back. Exhaling a deep breath, the lady got up and walked out.'God knows what he will say now." She was skeptical as Hunter hadn't replied last night, despite having seen the text. In the morning, when Kiara was packing her stuff while getting ready, she got reminded of Hunter's text from last night. As she had slept soon after replying to his message, she didn't know what he replied with. However, when she checked her phone, there was no message from him. "What happened, Kiara? Why are you looking pale all of a sudden?" Hunter got worried about her. Kiara didn't know how to react. Hunter was clearly behaving oddly and she would be a stupid woman to not notice these changes in him.She decided to ask him out directly and end this problem here. She can't tolerate anyone's advances now that she has started liking Viaan."Why are you being so considerate all of a sudden, Hunter?" Looking straight at him, she asked. Her tone was hard, more than usual. The spark in his eyes dimmed with her question. He frowned slightly."What do you mean?" Asking, he screeched his chair and came to her. "Didn't you like my gift?" He asked, leaning over her chair. Instinctively, she was alerted by the way she pulled herself a few inches back. However, she needed to discuss it if she wished this not to be brought up again. "I didn't get the notion of this 'gift' all of a sudden." She retaliated, trying to keep her tone as low as she can without sounding rud

"That's the most ridiculous escape, Hunter. Not even a single day I behaved oddly with you. Just because I pointed out your strange behavior, you are alleging me of change." Shaking her head at his allegations, Kiara condemned them. "I'm not alleging you of anything. I'm just stating the truth. Do you remember how many times you left my calls and texts unattended?" Hunter pinned her with the question."Only the times when I was sick and even then, I tried to respond timely, but it was you who texted or called me very late. How am I supposed to reply when I'm not awake?" Hurt was inflicted in those shining eyes as she stared at him in disbelief. Hunter, the man she thought was her genuine friend, was blaming her for things he knew the reasons for."You could have called me in the morning!" • CEO's Hidden Marriage   A call from the mother

It was 8 in the evening when Viaan walked to his personal elevator. Since the penthouse was just in the same building, it wouldn't take him much time to reach home. As soon as he stepped in, his phone vibrated with a phone call. Viaan pulled his phone out, punching the floor number with his left hand. A smile touched his lip as he saw Leena's name flashing on the phone."Hey, Maa. How are you?" He asked in a jovial tone, pressing the phone against his left ear. "I'm good, son, you tell me? Are you still in the office?" Leena asked from the other end."No, Maa. In the elevator. Just left the office." He said and Leena shook her head. She just doesn't understand why he shifts to his penthouse whenever she is not home for some days. However, this time the reason was entirely different and Leena was completely oblivious to it. She took this shift as the usual one and that's why didn't question him from the start of her vacation."I'm glad you stopped working late." Leena sighed in conten

"Hey, how was your day?" Her chirpy voice brought a smile to his face. But the next moment, Leena's words echoed in his ears, and his smile faltered."Good. Yours?" He asked, avoiding meeting her eyes."A bit hectic, but not bad at least." Kiara exhaled a dramatic sigh."Hmm…" Humming plainly, Viaan walked to the sofa, keeping his bag on the table. Sparing a glance and little nod at her, he turned towards the refrigerator."You need something?" Kiara interrupted his silence, finding his activity rather strange."Water." As Viaan replied without looking at her, Kiara stood sticking to her place. "What happened?" The question left her mouth before she could even think of asking.Viaan, who was gulping the water from the bottle itself, stilled. His shoulders stiffened and he stopped pouring the water in his mouth. His throat bobbed up and down as he gulped the last sip. Suddenly the air felt heavy and oblivious to his state of mind, Kiara repeated her question."What happened, Viaan? Wh
