Next day:-

Maya’s Place:-

Maya was in a hurry to leave for her office. She opened her cupboard and ruffled through her clothes to search for the shirt she wanted to wear today.

While finding that, a purple box fell on her feet making her flinch, “Ouch,” She held her toe, rubbing it. When her pain subsided she frowned at the box and picked it up from the floor.

The box had a beautiful purple gown, but it was not her size.

“Where did it—” Her voice caught up in her throat when she recalled whose dress it was and from where it came.

*Flashback*

Two days ago:-

Maya’s phone buzzed with an incoming call, displaying Samantha’s name on the screen. With a smile, Maya answered the call.

“Hello, Mom! What’s up?” Maya greeted cheerfully.

Samantha’s voice brimmed with excitement. “Maya, my dear, I have a surprise for you! How about we go on a wedding shopping spree together?”

Maya’s eyes widened, and she squealed with delight. “Oh, Mom, that sounds absolutely fantastic! I would love to go shopping

The room was filled with a palpable sense of grief and pain, the air heavy with the weight of her sorrow."Vivian," she whispered, her voice quivering with a mixture of sadness and frustration. "I don't understand why this had to happen. Viaan, our own son, he kept his relationship with Kiara hidden from me. It hurts, Vivian. It hurts so much."Her words were filled with raw honesty, devoid of any melodrama. Leena's voice cracked as she continued, her sobs interrupting her thoughts, her body trembling with the weight of her anguish. She clutched the photo frame tighter, seeking comfort in the physical presence of the image before her."They apologized tonight, over and over again. But apologies cannot take away the pain of being kept in the dark by the two people I trusted the m

Kiara's POV:-I was reading an important file when my phone rang, vibrating the table. Startling, I realized I was unconsciously chewing on the back side of the pen, which I removed from between my lips and lowered the file from my face.Reaching out to the table, I picked my mobile up and pressed the phone to my ears after reading Sophie's name on the screen. A smile touched my lips as I greeted her. "Hey, Soph. How are you?" receiving the call, I held the phone with my shoulder's support, pushing it into the cavity of my neck. With the urgency to complete the file before the end of the day, I decided not to put it down and carried on with the conversation. My eyes wavering back to the contents of the paper, while I waited for her to speak up. However, I didn't get what I was expecting, and that made my attention divert from the file finally. "Kia, are you free? Can we talk for a minute?" Sophie asked me hesitantly, her tone laced with a tinge of hope and desperation. My brows d

"But can we use Aaron's blood, given his heart transplant just two months ago?" I inquired, worrying about my Aaron. "I mean, did you ask Ryan whether Aaron can be the donor or not?" Tension lurked in my voice. I pulled my lips inside and pressed them stressfully. I heard some shufflings on Sophie’s side. She was probably sliding something. After a moment of silence, I heard her low voice again. “Yes, Kia. Dr. Ryan said he did check all medical reports pre and post-surgery of Aaron and had even talked to the head doctor, who handled Aaron’s case, regarding the situation. Only when he showed the green flag, did Dr. Ryan proceed with the tests. However, he explained that he will start the initial stage of treatment only as Aaron is still weak right now. His body would need another one and a half months to be able to donate blood for Tyler’s treatment.” Her voice turned mellower as she informed me. Despair was evident in her tone. I sensed the emotions she was trying to keep at bay as w

GRACE:-"You're our strength, Soph. Mine, Aaron, and Tyler's. You are the strong pillar we have. If you are going to say like this then who will hold us together?” I couldn’t help but ask emotionally. Whatever I said was as true as the universe. I meant every single word because, since the very beginning of our tragedies, it was Sophie who has been handling all of us. Agreed that at times she gets emotional and the situation takes over her tolerance, but by the end of the day, she is back to the same strong Sophie who is our rock. Sophie remained silent for some good seconds. Holding my tears back, I bit on my lips, waiting for her to respond. Her shaky breath resonated through my phone. It was no secret how much of a conflict she must be going through. "Sometimes the strongest pillar needs its foundation to be cemented again, for the hardships of life and situation decay the spirit to stand strong for longer." Her tone was many decibels lowers as she mumbled slowly emphasizing the
