“Xavier, are you human? You are more than cruel. I am starting to think that I don’t know you at all and you are not even my friend,” Alina said; however, I can feel the shiver in her voice.

“This is me then and now too. Don’t you say now that you thought of me as the same Xavier whom you met in college? You are the daughter of a businessman, and I am certain that your father would have already informed you about how I am in the business world, as well as about my cruelty." I sneered at her. Who would believe her innocent face and soft words? When I had previously placed my trust in her, she completely betrayed my confidence, teaching me that I should never again put my faith in other people.

“Yes, I heard it a bit. I never expected this. I am sorry; let me go, Xavier. At least on the terms of our earlier friendship,” she said.

“What would you do if I let you go?” I crossed my legs and leaned back.
