Chapter 99: Where's the Bottom Line

It was like a butterfly about to break out of its cocoon. Their eyes locked, and something seemed on the verge of happening. The man's handsome face was getting closer, and it looked like they were about to touch. Elaine's heart raced, almost leaping out of her chest.

But then, a knock on the door was like a bucket of cold water being poured down, extinguishing a red-hot iron. Aaron froze as if someone had stepped on his tail, his whole demeanor exploding in an instant! Elaine pushed at his chest, gesturing for him to get up. Ignoring her, he turned and shouted at the door, "Who is it?"

"It's me," Lilian's voice came from outside, equally angry. "Open the door for me!"

Hearing Lilian's voice, Elaine found it a bit amusing. She really did treat her like a thief, coming to knock on the door in the middle of the night. Obviously, this wasn't going to end well.
