Daring escape

I was lying in the dark, trying to think of a way out. Lisa had me tightly bound to a pair of shackles which I had been working so hard to get myself free from it and waiting for the right moment to strike.

I needed to get to my sons in order to protect them from the lady who had ruined our lives.

My senses were alert to the smallest of sounds around me as I pretended to be asleep. I could hear the sounds of the crickets chirping outside as everywhere was deathly still. The quiet hum of Lisa's singing, and the creak of the ancient wooden floorboards.

I waited for the perfect moment to strike. It came when Lisa's attention slipped, her gaze turning to the door as footsteps approached.

I channeled all of my will and strength into a tremendous blast that broke me loose and I was propelled by the force in the direction of the door.
