Chapter 9: Who is Ezra Donovan

It wasn't until the other kids in kindergarten started teasing Vivienne that she got angry and said to Asher, "I don't want to play with you anymore!"

In that moment, Asher's hollow eyes filled with tears, and he tightly grabbed her skirt, asking in a dry and rigid voice, "Don't you want me?" Vivienne felt her breath being stifled, her chest aching and tender.

However, by lunchtime, Asher eagerly pushed his own lunch toward Vivienne and anxiously said, "I'll give you all my things, so you can't reject me. We should be together forever." He looked like an abandoned puppy, desperately trying to please his owner.

Little did she know that wolves and dogs might look alike when they're young, but as they grow up, the differences become more pronounced. Even if a wolf appears gentle, deep down it has a savage nature.

The next day, Julian looked at Vivienne's dark circles and asked, "Didn't sleep well last night?"

"Yeah," Vivienne mumbled. Memories from her childhood kept flashing in her mind throughout the night. Now she realized that children were indeed more lovable, unlike Asher now, who only knew how to force things.

"Could it be that your part-time job is too exhausting?" Julian expressed her concern. As graduation approached, everyone was busy with their thesis and job hunting. Meanwhile, Vivienne had to work as a waitress at a club every night.

"It's okay. I don't have many classes during the day, so I can take a nap," Vivienne said. The cost of pursuing a master's degree was not insignificant. Growing up in a single-parent family, her mother had never let her experience hardship. However, her mother's income wasn't high, and the cost of living in the city was steep. Since her university days, Vivienne had been working part-time to earn some extra money and lighten the burden at home.

Julian understood Vivienne's reasons for working and didn't say much more. As graduation approached, classes became less frequent, and most of the time, everyone was busy with their own projects, only seeking guidance from their advisors when needed.

That morning, there was only one class. When Vivienne and Julian arrived in the classroom, the advisor hadn't arrived yet, and several students were gathered, chatting about the latest gossip.

"Oh my god, I envy Scarlett so much. She hooked up with Ezra Donovan, and her value skyrocketed instantly!" a girl exclaimed.

Another girl scoffed, "If she could marry Ezra Donovan, her value wouldn't just skyrocket. She could even have a share in the Four Seas Corporation."

"True. I heard Scarlett graduated from our school. It's a shame she didn't start acting until after college. Otherwise, I would have gone to her for a few autographs."

Scarlett, a once-unknown third-tier actress, saw her value soar after getting involved with Ezra Donovan, the CEO of Four Seas Corporation. After announcing her relationship with Ezra Donovan, she immediately landed several major advertising campaigns and starred in two blockbuster movies. The relationship between her and Ezra Donovan had always been a topic of entertainment gossip.

However, Ezra Donovan had never confirmed or denied their relationship, which only fueled the curiosity of those gossip journalists.

As Vivienne approached, she happened to see a magazine on a table. On the magazine, there was a gossip entertainment article accompanied by several photos taken by a reporter. The photos prominently featured Scarlett and Ezra Donovan.

In the photos, Scarlett seemed to be saying something to Ezra Donovan, but he appeared indifferent, merely bowing his head and toying with a ring on his left middle finger.

This ring had sparked various discussions online. It was said to be a very cheap ring, even quite faded. However, as the renowned heir of the Four Seas Corporation, he always wore such a ring, which aroused curiosity and speculation among others.

In the photo, Ezra Donovan appeared elegant but also emitted a strong sense of aloofness. He resembled a prince who was high above, and others could only look at him from afar but not approach.
