CHAPTER 5

CRYSTINA ’S POV

Alpha Luka didn’t say a word and neither did I. We were both staring at each other waiting for the other person to say something. Luka stared at me expectantly, his eyes narrowed as he scrutinized me. One hand was on the wheel while the other was on the passenger seat next to him. It was as if he was waiting for me to enter and take a seat. I knew better than to do that. Luka would never want me to enter his car. It was impossible, if I made the mistake and enter that car, I’m sure I’ll regret that decision for the rest of my life.

Meanwhile, my wolf was encouraging me to enter the car. ‘I think he wants us to enter that cool car, Tina,’ Kris repeated and I almost yelled.

‘Don’t be stupid, Kris, we know him better than that,’ I told her.

“I don’t think we do, Star. If we don’t get close to him, how are we supposed to know if he’s a good or a bad person,” She admonished.

“No is no, Chris. Back off now,” I warned. She quickly crouched and ignored me.

“Good morning, Alpha Luka,” I bowed my head in respect, ready to walk off after that.

“Come in, Crystina. Trust me, I’m going to ask once,” He commanded, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine. He was affirmative and I hope if I say no, he would let me go.

‘See, I told you he wants us in that expensive car,’ Kris interrupted.

‘Shut up,’ I yelled at her.

I’m so sure that Luka can be offering his help for nothing, he probably wants something in return, something that I can’t give to him, something that’ll make me regret taking a step closer to him today. So, instead of saying no with words, I gently shook my head while staring at the floor.

I didn’t look up to see his reaction to my response. As an Alpha, I’m so sure he wasn’t used to hearing no from people and now, a nobody like me dared say no to the Alpha. I didn’t look up until he drove off and all that was left was the sound of his engine.

Good luck getting to school without freezing first, I mumbled loudly even though I was the only one walking on that path.

Even though I thought I was late and the school gate would have been closed, to my surprise, the gate was opened. A lot of students also arrived late and I think it was due to the weather, some of them were dropped off by their parents while others drove themselves to school. Well, never have I had that privilege, and never will I.

As I walked towards my locker, I could see Paige waiting for me by my locker, looking at me pitifully as I walked towards her. She has a sad look on her face and I could only smile at her. I was shivering like a chicken dumped in a bucket of cold water. Some students gave me the stink eye while some looked at me with amusement. I didn’t bother to check if others find me pitiful as well. Does it matter?

“What happened to you, freako? Did you sleep in a snow house till dawn?” Brandon, the oldest of the triplet mocked me as I walked past them.

“Mind your business, Brandon,” I grumbled.

“You look terrible,” Paige complained when I finally got to her. She removed the tiny sweater I was putting on and gave me an extra coat of hers. I quickly wrapped my arms around the coat, trying to radiate the heat to the upper parts of my body.

“I got you some warm socks as well, have you eaten?” I shook my head. I collected the socks from her while she fetched some things from her locker.

I kept the socks in the pocket of the coat and decided to put them on later in the toilet.

She gave me warm milk and a sandwich while grumbling about something “I knew this was going to happen,”

No wonder she came with an extra coat and socks as well as food for me. Paige is the second best thing that has ever happened to me and I won’t take our friendship for granted.

“Thank you,”

“Shut up,” She glared at me and I couldn’t stop smiling. A hand landed on my shoulder from behind and before I could turn to see who it was, the owner of the hand was our third friend, Nico.

“I thought you died in a ditch,” Paige rolled her eyes as soon as she saw Nico.

“Just missed a day of school and you already wish me dead,”

“Whatever,” Paige groaned.

Suddenly, Nico placed his palm on my forehead. “Are you okay, Belle? Do you have a fever?” Belle was Nico’s nickname for me. Since the day he first called me Belle, he told Paige she was forbidden from calling me that as well

“I’m fine, Nico,” I assured him and I watch as he frowned a little, ignoring my response. He removed his scarf from his neck and wrapped it around my neck.

“You don’t have to do that, Nico, I’m fine,”

He took a step back, stared at me, and smiled. “It looks better on you, moreover, I don’t need it,” He flexed his muscles at Paige and stuck his tongue out at her while she rolled her eyes. He turned to smile at me. My heart skipped a bit every time he smiled. My fingers lazily danced on the scarf around my neck and I can’t help but blush. Everything he does makes me happy.

“What’s the first class we’re having?” Nico asked as we walked away from our lockers. I was walking in between the both of them.

“Arts,” I answered disappointedly. I wasn’t able to make any purchases for my arts supplies that I needed for the class. I tried searching for a job last week so I could get some money to buy them but it was to no avail. My efforts were futile and now I have to face embarrassment in class one more time.

“Why would your fami…” I didn’t allow Paige to complete her statement when I grabbed her hand to stop her from saying too much. I know she was ready to complain about my family again but I couldn’t afford that embarrassment with Nico standing with us. Nico suddenly grabbed hold of my pinky finger and smiled at me as we walked to class.

I wanted to smile right back at him but the hair at the back of my neck suddenly stood up. It was as if I was being watched by someone. I looked behind and I didn’t see anyone. Right when I thought I was being paranoid for nothing, a familiar scent hit me and when I looked to my right, he was right there.

Alpha Luka was standing with the principal but his gaze was focused on my hand. When he looked up to glare at me, I wanted the ground to open and swallow me whole.

Paige's POV "I didn't expect to see your face again or even see you marked by my brother," I rolled my eyes as I decided to ignore Carter no matter what. Gabriel and I together with Azel arrived at the palace two seconds ago and I'm so unfortunate the person who came to meet us at the door was no one else but mother fucking Carter. "Hello to you, Carter," I said with a fake big smile. "I know that smile is fake, Paige. You can't fool me," "Maybe you should stop stressing the girl out so much," Azel advised. We hadn't even walked into the palace yet because of Gabriel. Gabriel was speaking to a woman on the far end side of ours. "Aww, don't get too jealous, Paige. He marked you already, he can't jump to another woman just like that," "You're a pandemic," I told him. He wasn't just an arch nemesis to Gabriel, he was a problem to everyone around him except Azel. I've been thinking of so many ways to get rid of him and I just couldn't come up with something that'll kill

  • CAGED BY MY ALPHA    Book 2 - Chapter 59

Paige's POV"Do you want me to come over there?" Crystina asked from the other end of the line. I shook my head as if she could see me.After several days of mopping and locking myself in my room, I found the courage to call my parents and I asked them to tell me the truth and not leave any stone unturned. Even though they were both adamant at first, my mother cracked first. She told me she had begged my father not to do it but he didn't listen. My father didn't talk to me even after I was done talking to my mom and I didn't care. They lied to me all my life, they made me hate a different person, they almost made me leave Gabriel and made an innocent person apologize for the sins his father didn't commit. I asked them not to contact me anymore. I told my mother she should be rest assured that I'll be fine because it's obvious I'll be safer with the Lucien's brothers than with my own family. "You don't have to. Moreover, we'll be leaving for the palace in a day," I replied Crystina

  • CAGED BY MY ALPHA    Book 2 - Chapter 58

Paige's POV "Lucien didn't do it," Carter said. He picked up a grape from the fruit bowl, ate one, and offered me the next one. I shook my head. "Who did?" He shrugged. "I wasn't really particularly interested in the story because it would've been more interesting if they'd said my father did it," I clenched my teeth. His answer wasn't what I wanted and his words were beginning to piss me off. "Carter, who did?" "Why do I think you're angry? I can smell your anger," "Because I need a fucking answer," I yelled."It was you, right? You're the girl in the story," "That's none of your business, I just need an answer," "No wonder that bastard hasn't marked you yet. He's probably stalling from marking a wolfless bitch," I clamped my lips together, forcing myself to swallow whatever it is I wanted to say. "Listen, Carter. You can keep the tale, I don't want to know," I turned, ready to leave again. "What happened to you was tragic," It was his game and the little time I'd spent

  • CAGED BY MY ALPHA    Book 2 - Chapter 57

Paige's POV"Someone looks ready for training," Gabriel teased as I walked down the stairs. I was in my training gear already excited for the training. How could someone be so excited about getting exhausted and sweaty? That someone is me by the way. I know it's going to be hard but I'm ready in every way. I've been training for a month already and I get stronger each time. "I guess," I shrugged. I walked past him to pick up a bottle of water from the fridge. When I turned back to look at him, I caught him staring at my ass. Since the last time, we haven't made an attempt to make out not to talk about having sex. It's not like the spark died because I could still feel the sexual tension between us but I believe something else changed in Gabriel. I can't know what's going through his head but it's a lot sometimes and he acts on it. He thinks I'll break if he touched me. If I want him, I have to pull him in myself. "Quit staring at my ass, commander," He gave a small smile and looked

  • CAGED BY MY ALPHA    Book 2 - Chapter 56

Paige's POVI tried to wrap my head around what Gabriel meant by his words and I couldn't bring myself to find an answer to that. I was shocked by his words and I couldn't understand it. I've been playing with Azel because he was too busy to have my time and I didn't want to be a bitch by demanding his attention every time. "What are you talking about, Gabriel?" He clicked his tongue. "You don't want me around you. Don't try to deny it, Piage," I had to interrupt him at that point. "That's not true, Gabriel. You've been busy and I didn't want to be an additional problem by complaining," "You've been giving your attention to Azel. You don't even look at me when I come home either in the day or at night," "That's because you don't stay for more than five minutes when you come home during the day and at night, you come home late. I try to stay awake and wait for you but you just never come," He stared at me, ran his hand into his hair, and slumped into his chair. "I stay for five

  • CAGED BY MY ALPHA    Book 2 - Chapter 55

Paige's POV"Get off my path, you demon," I yelled at Azel as I tabbed the game console with more anger. He was growling, yelling back at me. "Move your ass, you're not a snail for fuck sake, Princess," I snarled at him and he winked. I still don't understand how I get so worked up about these games and Azel can still compose his shit to look like gold. Two weeks have passed since Gabriel and I declared how important we were to each other. He's been busy at the Pack, rarely having time for me. Still, I always wake up to breakfast that he made while the chef he hired fixes dinner for me. Most times, when I wake up in the morning, he's gone and I don't even have the privilege to see him before bed. I miss him so much but I didn't want to complain and act like a clingy mate so I shut my trap and let him do whatever he wanted. Sometimes, I would sneak into the training ground in the early hours of the morning to watch him train with the others and when I'm satisfied with his looks, I'
