CHAPTER 62

LENA.

"You okay?"

"Yes, thank you."

I was seated on the bed with a glass of water in my head. Damon had helped me out of another weird attack again and I couldn't even hate him more.

My attacks were becoming more frequent now, happening whenever things had gone wrong—

I sat up with wide eyes. Damon looked up at me from where he stood by the window. "Is something wrong?"

I ignored him and climbed out of the bed and in my quest to stabilize myself, I staggered. In two strides, he was standing beside me. His fingers gripped my arms firmly to hold me in place.

"You good, Lena? You shouldn't be on your feet. That was why I asked you to rest for now," He said. His voice was laced with worry and I was starting to think it was all for show.

I smiled at him and nodded. "Yes, I am. Thank you, Damon."

He saw that I wasn't going to listen to his pleas for me to stay back and rest a bit. "You don't look good but I'll walk you to wherever you're going."

CHAPTER 63 LENA. I had considered sitting outside with him. I mean, it was Damon, the boy I hated with everything in my soul. We walked to the back of the house and I tried to ignore the fact that his hands were in mine. He was holding me from falling and I tried not to fall into the realization of his hands being firm and soft at the same time. Leah had seen us leaving but she didn't seem to care. But I knew that deep down, she was mad. ADD A Luke had to get a wind of what had been happening behind him as I was tired of being the one to always cover up her dirty deeds for her. He really loved her and they were meant for each other. I wasn't going to let whatever feelings she had for Damon come in the way of their relationship. "A penny for your thoughts?" I stretched out my hand. Damon looked down at it and laughed before digging his hand into his pocket and placing a dollar bill on my palm. I folded it over and stuck it into the side of my dress. "I didn't see t

CHAPTER 64 LENA. I should have taken those swimming lessons when my father begged me to. I shouldn't have bailed out for the fear of water. I felt my body sinking and I tried to cry out for help but something told me to keep quiet. Trying to scream inside the water meant I was going to take in more water than intended. This was going to be my last day on earth and it had to be when I knew who he really was. So Damon was the one who had been killing everyone? He was the one who killed my mother and how he was about to do it to me because he believed I knew who he really was? I should have known. I should have known that this was who he really was! I couldn't stay calm. Not when my life was almost ending. No matter how I tried, the panic in my heart still remained. Just when I felt like my lungs were going to burst, strong arms wrapped around my arms and pulled me out of the water. My eyes stung as it came in contact with air. closed my eyes and gasped as I tried to ca

CHAPTER 65 DAMON. I don't think I've seen a woman look so beautiful in a t-shirt. Other girls try to look sexy in it and it ends up looking mediocre because they try too much. But with her, it's different. Fucking different. She didn't even try to look sexy in it. She walked out through the glass doors with a grumpy look on her face. I knew she was mad at me for tossing her into the water but I didn't care. I loved to rile her up, I loved to get a reaction out of her and if she knew how excited seeing her mad made me, she'd have ignored the hell out of my existence. And that's what I don't want. Her hair was still wet from the fall and she tried her best to wipe off water from her hair. I got a sneak peek at her thighs as she raised her hand. She wasn't skinny. Not at all. She had flesh in the right places. The hem of my shirt stopped at her upper thigh and I caught sight of her panties before she threw her hand down in frustration. I don't think I can pretend

CHAPTER 66 LENA. "I can't." I stopped for a moment to look at him. He had to be joking but those words carried so much intensity. I hadn't expected it. His eyes. They were the sincerest I had ever seen. "You can't? Then I'd make it easy for you. Just stay the fuck away from me." "Why are you doing this? You're blowing it way over the top and you know that. I apologized already but it seems like there's something else you're not telling me. I'd really appreciate it if you do." I didn't want to tell him that I had stared at him longer than I wanted to. That I had smelt his shirt and imagined his hands on mine. I didn't want to think of him pushing me into the water again but this time, holding me up well enough to kiss me on the lip. It had been one of my wildest fantasies of him and it was dangerous. I didn't want to sink into him. It was disastrous. I didn't need anyone telling me that. "I—" I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. "Damon... What do you want from

CHAPTER 67 LENA. Gods knew I wasn't going to ask Damon for a ride. With the way things had ended back at the decking, I couldn't even look in his face. I didn't know what to feel. Bad that my friends had ditched me after we all planned to come here? Weren't we supposed to leave together? I was sure the boys didn't make that decision of leaving me behind. It was Leah's and she must have made them believe there was something between us both. Well, I was going to take that walk and avoid each and everyone of them the next day. I hiked my purse higher and began to walk. I shouldn't have worn heels. Sneakers would have done the job but well, I wanted to impress Xander who had been put out when I lied about stubbing my toes. I couldn't take my shoes off and I was really tired from the events of today. My home was quite far from here but I was sure to get back in less than fifteen minutes. I needed the exercise. I was slightly glad that I was left behind. Besides, I was

CHAPTER 68 DAMON. Seeing her in so much pain and distress stressed the hell out of me. I had panicked when she told me she twisted her ankle but she had only been panicking. I laughed and crouched to her feet and caught her feet in my hand. "You didn't twist your ankle, Lena. Your heel broke." She looked down to see that was it and I heard her sigh in relief. "I thought I twisted my ankle. Gods, I am really stupid sometimes." "You aren't," I muttered as I studied her feet. They weren't too large. Just the right size of her body and her nails were painted in the color of lavender, one that looked like a beautiful balance against her creamy skin. Her skin was soft, just like I had imagined. "Can I take these off for you?" "Uhm, yes. I can't bend to take them off anyway. There's no chair close by for me to sit..." She must have realized that she was talking too much. I laughed. She was really cute. I gently undid the straps of her heels and took off the first heel be

CHAPTER 69 LENA. I successfully climbed up my window without making a noise or getting bruised. Closing my window quietly as I was sure my Dad, Aunt Raya and Jason were back, I slipped my dress off, remembering how I had taken them off and worn Damon's large t-shirt. For the little moment that I had been cocooned in his warmth and sweet scent, I had loved it. I had loved being only in panties and my lacy bra only before him. I had felt naked but there was this spark his hand on my bare skin ignited. And when he squeezed my hip? I fell back into the wall and slid to the floor, pushing my fist into my mouth as I bit back a squeal. I was going crazy. Jesus Christ. It wasn't a crush. It was just a crazy attraction and maybe I was infected by it like every girl in Willow High was. Pushing to my feet, I went to stand in front of my floor to ceiling mirror, checking my body out as I saw myself through his eyes. What did he see? My belly? My skinny arms? My breasts? Shit! My

CHAPTER 70 LENA. My Dad pulled Jason off the table before he got burnt and Aunt Raya screamed like she had just seen a ghost. The jug of milk in her hand fell to the ground and crashed as shards and spills filled the whole room. I stared down at the mess I had made, shocked that this had come from me. I looked up to see my father staring at me with shock in his eyes. Jason had his arms wrapped around my Dad's neck and Aunt Raya took him from my father's hand. Part of the table was burnt. My pancake was burnt beyond recognition and the plate had a chip and it fell apart when I tried to move my feet. My cup of milk was broken even and the burnt liquid dripped to my feet. "To your room, Lena!" My father commanded and began to walk towards the steps. I pushed my seat and stood to my feet. The only stain I had was on my shirt. I was going to have to change that. Standing to my feet, I smiled politely at Aunt Raya who was still staring at me in shock. "I'm sorry." "I

Damon, who had slept over, all thanks to my Dad who gave him the permission, was still on the bed typing away at his phone. He looked up at me. "What's that? The meeting?" I nodded. "Yes." He climbed out of the bed and placed his phone on it before walking over to where I stood and cupping my cheeks. "Yes, love. It is an absolutely good idea. An opportunity for me to make it up to everyone and I don't think I can do it without you. So get dressed and let's go to the council meeting." "Okay?" I nodded. We arrived late. The meeting had started about an hour ago and just as we stepped in, everyone turned to look at us. Master Choi was at the door. He smiled at me. "You did it." I looked at Damon who shook his head. He didn't want me telling people what happened. It was our little secret and I was going to keep it f

CHAPTER 126 LENA. We were back in Willow Town. Directly in front of the tree close to the portal. Damon decided that closing it for good was the best idea. And I agreed to it. As soon as it was closed, I turned to him with a bright smile on my face. "I still can't believe that this is already over. It ended as soon as it began." "It wasn't easy anyway." Damon replied as he parted a branch for me to pass through. "I thought I was going to die for real. Metheus he...he makes me so afraid." "But he's gone now," I took his hand in mine and we intertwined fingers. "He's gone for good." "And I am happy." He sighed and looked at me. I pushed back a lock of his hair that fell over his face. "I am so happy, Lena. I am happy to be here with you. I want to help now. This is my way of repaying my sins." "It wasn't your fault," I said to him as we burst out of the woods. I smiled, seeing that my car was still there. It was almost dawn and I could tell from the way the skies

CHAPTER 125 LENA. "She is the weakest of them all," He snarled, his feet leaving the ground as he floated into his air and commanded darkness. "I thought we were bringing some challenges. But this one? She's going to be dead before this ends." "Don't listen to him, Lena. He's trying to make you afraid of him. It's what he does." This was definitely harder than I thought. I was just coming out from the shock of seeing everyone that had died in the attack and having to let them go for good. There was this pain and burning hatred in my chest and it was all directed at the man standing before me. He was evil, menacingly cunning like the Devil and I saw why Damon was so afraid of him. I would be too. But I wasn't. All I wanted to do was avenge the death of my mother and everyone else. I had vanquished all of his demons, had his sons all locked up in abyss and it was just me and him against the whole fucking world. He was strong, I had to admit that. None of

CHAPTER 124 DAMON. Wyverns. I hated them with everything in me. They were the bane of my existence and my father had used these creatures to traumatize me a whole lot of times. I didn't even want to think about it. But Lena was standing beside me and she didn't look the least afraid. "They are an illusion, Lena," I informed her. "Created in his mind and brought to life like a hologram." She nodded. "That means we go for him?" I nodded. He wasn't here yet but that was the memo. "Yes." From the tower, we could see the Palace. There were several entrances on each floor and I knew which he was going to step out from. More wyverns flew out through the dome of the castle, flapping their dark, veiny wings and screeching into the night air as they flew around. One swooped down to our level and I ducked, pulling Lena along with me. "Their talons are sharp enough to kill you." "Not if we kill them first." "My father, remember?" She nodded. Just as we mo

I burst into laughter when I noticed how their frowns deepened. "We have no time for that. You're going to calmly walk to us and you're going to surrender. Unless you want us to force you." Slowly, my arms spread out. My eyes darted over to the other side of the wall. It was just Damon there. Just as he shook his head at me with panic in his eyes, he was pulled off the wall forcefully. I frowned and darted my eyes back to the men before looking back at the fort. Damon was in combat with Stefan. What the fuck? Something was wrong and Damon was unaware. Closing my eyes, I felt my powers bubble up from my insides. My eyes opened and I didn't miss the shock on the men's faces. A smirk curled up my lips and I drew close, feeling frost coat on my fingers. One of the guards broke out of the others and

I wanted to tell her that I missed her and that I wanted to kiss her full on the lips. That I wanted to touch her and sink my fingers into her hair. But she didn't seem to be in the mood for all that. If there was someone more determined than Stefan, then she had to be the one. She placed her backpack on the floor and zipped it open before grabbing a bottle of water and a croissant. She looked at me and raised it into the air in a way of asking me if I was going to eat but I shook her head and smiled at her in appreciation. Nodding, she sank her teeth into the croissant and began to chew slowly as she took a look around. She gulped down her water and kicked at a stone. I knew she was avoiding me. I knew she was avoiding getting into a conversation with me. Sighing, I leaned against the tree trunk close to me and watched her while she a

I asked as I kick started the engine. "Uhm, we should see your father before doing anything else. He's missed you." I gave him a hard look. "If we do not do this now, I don't know when we will. Someone else is going to die." A look of hurt flashed in his eyes but it was gone as soon as it came. He nodded. "I wasn't planning on killing anyone after that but you're right." "Where are we driving to?" I asked as I slowly backed away before making a turn in the middle of the road. "And know that if you lead me down the wrong road and try to kill me, I'll rip you apart before you blink." He's not going to harm you. "I don't care!" I snapped back at her, not minding

CHAPTER 120 DAMON. We were seated in her car now. It had taken a lot for her to let me sit in the passenger seat. What hurt the most was how she avoided me when I tried to touch her. It felt like she was repulsed by me and it hurt really bad. It wasn't her fault anyway. I had brought this on myself. I had hurt her terribly and I knew she wasn't going to ever forgive me. Hell, I wasn't going to forgive myself for putting her through too much pain. Her fingers were wrapped around the steering wheel and her knuckles had turned white from having to grip it tightly. Once again, it was my fault. I wasn't even going to blame her for something I did. I wanted to reach out to her. I wanted to touch her so bad. I had planned a lot for her return. I had made a lot of collages of both of us and we had even set up a surprise party for her when she returned. I had set up a date for us both together before I took her back to my place. But today of all days, tragedy struck and I cou

He had looked like he was waiting for the downfall of Willow Pack and now...Damon? It had to be a dream. I shook my head and tried clearing my head but he was still standing before him, shock written all over his face and for the first time, I saw who he really was. For the first time, it clicked. It all started to make sense. The dark aura, the confusion that had come with him. It was all starting to manifest right now and I couldn't find my Damon anymore. I didn't see the boy I was in love with. All I could see was a murderer. A beast. A fucking killer and a demon. I tried to speak but my words got caught in my throat. My eyes darted over to the dead bodies. The amber glow of the streetlights around it burnished against the pale skin of the dead bodies, making them look ethe
