At The Party...

Duke's POV

'Keep it? What are you, stupid?' My head was overflowing with thoughts now of me being an idiot. I loved and cherished that jacket! What was I to do when I couldn't take my eyes off her. How could a girl look that beautiful, it was supposed to be illegal!

"You saw how bad ass she looked, right? Do you think she got all dressed up for us?" Dean asked excitedly.

"Yea that must be it. No matter how hard she tries to pretend to be mean to us, she's already head over heels." Darius replied. "Okay, Dean you can stop grinning now."

My dad stepped into the Sienna car and my mom and Anaya came in last with both dad and mom in the front, while Anaya was stuck at the back alone. She didn't just look good, but smelled even better!

The ride to the party was silent and I couldn't be more glad. We were escorted inside by Sarah, who seemed a little too excited seeing us. Once inside, my dad and mom made their way over to the adults. We were forced to follow, just to say hi to some rich old folks, but soon we were free again. Sarah practically gummed herself close to me laughing loudly at every thing Darius and Dean said.

She had heavy makeup on that made her look like she had tried too hard that evening, and her dress was a simple camisole material that might fit for a nightgown. "Duke, it's so good to see you!" She said when we were finally alone together. Both Dean and Darius had somewhere else to be, sipping their wine and chatting with some ladies, even Anaya snuck her way out leaving just Sarah and I.

"I wish I could say the same," I rolled my eyes, searching around to escape. Now that I thought about it, it was a bad idea stepping out of my comfort zone. Out of an unusual habit, I was forced to continuously check up on Anaya, watching everything she did, and where she went. So far she was with a familiar face, some girl from school and a dude I didn't really know. They laughed and waltzed around the hall.

"Are you just going to pretend I don't exist? Dean and Darius are out there with Maria and Donna, having the time of their lives. I know I did something wrong but I'm sorry!"

"You never apologized to her, did you?" My face was an angry mask all of a sudden.

She stared to the ground avoiding my gaze, "I will. I will, tonight. We all will, okay? Now can you just look at me and have fun with me, hmm?" She advanced closer, her small hands caressing my chest before she laid her head on me.

I pushed her away, a thought filling my mind. We weren't at some dumb high school party. We were supposed to be together with our mate, even if it was just going to be fake. Not separated with different other girls! People would be watching us, and as the future alpha of the pack, we were entitled to behave maturely.

"We're over, Sarah. Let that sink into your head. Excuse me," I quickly made my way away from her, moving forward with quick steps.

"Oh hey Duke, I've been telling Darius to keep it down with these ladies. We should be with Anaya right now, don't you think?" Dean said as I made my way towards them.

"For once in a very long time, I agree with you." I told Dean.

"You always agree with me. You love me,"

"Shut up, Dean. Come on, let's go meet Darius--where the fuck is he anyway?" I glanced around to look for him but surprisingly, he had disappeared so fast. Did he see me coming and he ran off? Why would he do that?

"Oh he's about to sleep with that Shanica girl. She is hot by the way." Dean said.

"We need to stop him. Come on," I said to Dean to guide us to find Darius. "Is he so stupid? If anyone finds out...he'll make us look like total dicks!"

"Which we probably are. When I see Ana tonight, I'm going to give a sincere apology. You should as well." Dean said to me. An apology?

"Yea, we'll see how that goes."

Anaya's POV

It wasn't how I had planned my night would be like because it was even better. Ella arrived in a badass dinner dress revealing her curves in all the right ways, and even though I was a girl, I couldn't stop staring at how gorgeous she was! Which was weird, since I was not supposed to be surprised. Ella was a really pretty girl. She gave me all kinds of sweet compliments on how I looked so hot, and I just smiled.

As I'd thought, her mate was right by her side, cute guy. He treated me just as nice as he was treating Ella, and I couldn't help but feel a tug of jealousy in me. Wishing I had someone as sweet as this guy.

"Honey, that guy is totally checking you out." Ella whispered in my ears after her mate, Harry, had gone to bring us more drinks.

I turned to her direction and caught a glimpse of this bad boy. He had piercing green eyes, and damn, he was sculpted like some Greek god sent down to earth as a punishment. A smile formed on his face as he sighted me, and my face flustered that I quickly turned away.

"Isn't that Donovan? Your neighbor?" I asked Ella who she confirmed with a nod. "Damn, he's so hotter now." Donovan never attended our academy. Instead, he went to another school since he lived with his mother in another state, so he only visited his dad sometimes.

"You should go say hi. I'll reintroduced you. Come on," Ella said, but I was reluctant to go. My eyes scanned the room for the trio and I saw that they'd disappeared. Seemed like they were having the time of their own lives! Why couldn't I?

I smiled and let Ella lead the way.
