"Don't play games with me, Bridgette!"
Axe clucked in displeasure at my long silence. His hand moved quickly to grab my jaw roughly, "answer me!" he demanded with his eyes still glaring at me.I shook my head in defense of the truth before my eyes. I don't know why my heart feels heavy to be honest with Axe. I was afraid that he'd unjustly keep me away from Oracle. There's a cruelty in him that will never go away, a dark side that's deeply embedded in his soul. Even Axe can be gentle and harsh at the same time. I must be wary of him."Want to test who's more stubborn, Bridgette?" Axe whispered as close to my ear as he could. His actions make my hair stand on end, I'm scared to see this kind of attitude from him. But I didn't want to be blunt with him."Fine!" says Axe, ending his curiosity. A second later he moved to the side of the bed, pulled out the nightstand drawer and retrieved something. A small length of rope was pulled out of it.I rounded my eyes to see"Who are you?" I asked as I watched the people around me. They looked creepy with all-black clothes and gloomy faces looming over them.Where was I?Last time I remembered, I was still in Axe's hotel room and had fallen asleep after the man's punishment ended. Axe.Where was he now? I didn't see him at all. Instead, I saw several humans in front of me. Why and what exactly? Why did I end up here, in a place I didn't recognize at all.Who were they? What are they surrounding me like this for?I felt like my body couldn't move, as if something was holding me back. What was wrong with me? Oh God! I tried to scream, but my voice was drowned out by the shock of seeing each of them holding a sharp weapon ready to draw on me.No!My stifled voice finally came out. My eyes snapped open and it turned out that everything that happened was just a dream. The roar of my breath became a song in the morning. I looked around and found no one here. Where is Axe this early in the morning?I look down
"What are you talking about, Bridgette? Is Oracle really my son?" he asked, leaving me speechless for a long time. Why would Axe ask me again, when the answer he had been waiting for was right in front of him right now. Could he be testing me? I think so.I quickly took a breath and forcefully exhaled. I nodded before finally choosing to look back at Axe's face. A ray of relief shone in his eyes. I'd never seen such happiness before, and today... I'd been successfully slapped by reality. I had cut off Axe's happiness that he should have already felt. Was it evil of me to keep Axe and Oracle apart for so many years? Don't say yes, I can't bear to remember my crime."Thank you, baby," Axe whispered softly. Next I felt my hand being pulled into a sitting position with Axe still on top of my thigh.I tried to digest the situation. I thought Axe would be angry with me for lying to him all this time. Turns out I was wrong. Instead, Axe cupped my jaw and crushed my lips de
"Come, Bridgette! Don't think too much. About Gorson, I think is none of your business, I'll handle it. Now you get ready. We'll pick up Oracle and I'll have Edward pick up the DNA test results at the hospital."I snapped out of my reverie and found Axe already staring at me at this close range. "Or do you want me to give you a bath? I think that's a good idea," he whispered very close followed by a brief kiss on my earlobe."No need. I have arms and legs, I can bathe myself too." I quickly pushed Axe's body away. I don't want him to go overboard and touch me. It's still early and I don't want that to happen.I grunt, then move off the bed. My steps are definitely toward the bathroom. However, I'm only halfway there when my shriek is cut off by my body floating into the air. Axe suddenly carried me in his arms. Therefore, I could see his face from this close a distance.Axe's firm jaw lures me into petting him gently. Axe was indeed the definition of a miracle man. Everything he does
"I don't want to mince words. We're here to take Oracle back with his real family," Axe said suddenly when he saw me and Rose step through the doorway. His mouth really couldn't hold back. Couldn't Axe have waited just a moment before making his wish known? I felt bad for Rose."What does he mean, Bridgette? Did he know?" asked Rose as quietly as possible with an incredulous look.I sighed harshly and nodded my head in agreement. It was already done. I couldn't deny it anymore, no matter how much I publicized the truth to Axe. That man was still a cunning human who managed to trick me into telling him the truth. Had I known from the start that the letter Axe brought was a share transfer letter, I wouldn't have acknowledged the fact that Oracle was his son. Never."Pack your things, Bridgette," Axe orders, not liking the fact that I'm standing still next to Rose."We still have until tomorrow. I don't like to be rushed." I shot Axe a glare as a warning that I didn't like being bossed a
"Why are you talking like that?" Axe looked at me sharply, as if he didn't like what I said."It's the truth. If it wasn't for Rose, I would have ended my life when I found out I was pregnant because of you."I looked deeply into Axe's face. Instantly, guilt was embedded in his eyes. Axe seemed to be slapped by my words, which I admit sounded painful. Could it be that he realized that what he did back then really hurt me? I hoped so."Don't be rude to Rose anymore. She has no one but me and the Oracle. If you were upset at my referring to Rose as my sister-in-law, I apologize. Rose also expressed her apology to you. I'm sorry that she slapped you and accused you-" My sentence was cut off by Axe's sudden hug. I can feel his breath on the skin of my neck."I'm sorry I hurt you that much." Axe whispered very softly next to my ear. He shouldn't be apologizing to me."Apologize to Rose, for being so mean. Not to me."I hurt you a lot more, but I promise I'll apolo
"My Mommy is still Mommy Rose. I won't go with Daddy and Aunty if Mommy doesn't come." After saying that, Oracle went running to his room and closed the door tightly."Oracle," Axe called after Oracle, but I quickly stopped him. It was useless."Never mind, Axe. Oracle was right. I deserve this. Don't push him again." I quickly clamped a hand over my mouth to stifle the sob that was about to escape. I didn't. I couldn't continue to be here, while my chest held a tightness that wouldn't go away.I quickly moved to press the door knob, coincidentally my position had not changed since before-standing in the doorway watching the interaction that created a gaping wound in my chest. My steps must have been towards the emergency stairs, I couldn't wait for the elevator to open which would make some people there look at me in surprise. That's fine, let me spend my energy climbing the stairs until I'm exhausted."Bridgette!"Axe's call made me turn my head. Oh. Apparently he's after me. Why, c
"Do you want to go to the park by the lake, Bridgette?" I didn't realize we were already on the ground floor, probably because Axe kept talking to me until everything felt light."Are you taking me there?""Yes. If you want.""Of course.""Okay. Hold on tight."That was it. After that Axe managed to provoke a shriek out of my lips. How could he not, he ran towards the basement with my body still in his arms. If we both fell, what would happen?"Axe stop!" I tried to get Axe to put me down, but he was so ignorant that he didn't care how hard I tried to stop him. He was running fast enough that I was almost strangling his neck, afraid that my grip would slip."You're driving me crazy!"I looked at Axe who was taking a deep breath. His chest was rising and falling with air coming in and out simultaneously. Who told him not to listen to me, now he's paying the price."I don't want to be carried around like that next time." I folded my arms as I l
I exhale harshly, creating dew on the surface of the window glass on Axe's private jet. I'm tired. My heart felt hollow at the thought of going through life like before tomorrow. Especially the second rejection from Oracle when Axe and I returned to Rose's apartment really made me realize myself. Oracle would never accept the fact that I was his biological mother. I guess it's only natural, since Rose has always been with Oracle since he was a little boy and Oracle's mommy call is patented. I won't stand a chance.Give me one month. I'm sure Oracle will be able to accept you as his mother, Bridgette. That's what Rose said after I said goodbye to her for the last time. One month...I don't know if that one month will be enough time for Rose to persuade Oracle or not. I don't want to hope that it will be dropped by expectations. Let me now live my life as it should be. Falling and rising are indeed two things that intersect, and I was experiencing one of them."Miss, Master asks that
