CHAPTER 17: Unraveling control

GINA'S POV

My mother and I were sitting across from one other in the living room when Alpha Van's dark presence enveloped the room.

We were flipping through the latest magazines, making notes about things we loved and wanted to purchase, when he passed by.

Tsk-tsk-tsk, she clicked her tongue and looked up at me, her doe eyes narrowed while she chewed on her strawberry-flavoured gum.

She asked, "Is Alpha Van still having those dreams?"

I gave a nod. "Yes, the woman he sees in them is the worst now.”

“A woman?” She said abruptly, almost raising her voice.

“Shhhhhhhh.” I put a finger against my lips, shushing her before someone would hear our conversation. We both glanced around to make sure we were the only ones in the living room.

Then I leaned in closer to her; she edged herself out of her seat and I whispered, “Doctor Rowan told me that Van said he now sees a woman in a black hooded cloak. He also said Van suspects her to be a witch.”
