Chapter five (b)

"Oh no Mr. Adams you don't have to kneel. I'm not God in charge of lives but my job is to do the best of my abilities."

"What do you mean Doctor? Is she dead? Talk to me!" I blurted out in rage. My eyes were almost turning bloodshot.

The doctor removed his glasses slowly and spoke softly. "She's safe, you brought her here right on time before the harmful substances could lurch at her heavily but..." He paused, finding it hard to break the bad news to him.

"That's lovely, Doctor but what?" I asked expectantly, the hairs in my body stood erect. My heart was thumping loudly in my chest as though it wanted to fly out of my mouth and I was sure the Doctor could read how uneasy and desperate I seemed.

"S-he lost… I mean we couldn't save the mother and the child at the same time. You see the injection had paralyzed her from the waist going up to her arms which had affected the foetus and caused the child's life. I'm sorry about that, she's recuperating perfectly." The doctor narrated and
