Noah's pov
Sitting in my office, I can't help but think about those Hazel eyes which have been haunting me in the past five years. Five years of separation and every blood moon, I have to fight against my beast from taking over. My beast, Ryker has been losing his sanity with each passing day. There are a few things I regret in life and my biggest regret is hurting her and kicking her in the curb. She was destined to be mine but because I thought she wasn't good for me, I treated her as shit and chose another as my mate. Serena was everything I needed in a woman. Smart, beautiful and powerful. She was a whole package but Ryker thought otherwise or should I say, she proved me otherwise. Two years into our marriage, I found out that she was cheating on me and that's not even the worst part, she was here on a plan with her mate, Alpha Drake of Redmoon pack. The plan was simple: poison me and take over my pack. Luckily, her plan was discovered and you have to ask about her tragic end. I run my pack with one slogan, snitches get stitches and end up in ditches and that's where she ended up, in a ditch. Lost in thought, I did not realise when my Beta,Alex, walked in. “ Thinking about her again?” He asked and I looked away, shaking my head“ You know you don't have to lie to me. I know you all too well.” Alex declared. He was right, he was the only person who knew about my longing for that woman and how I was slowly losing my mind. I hated that he knew me that well. “ Why don't you look for her? She can't have vanished in thin air. I know she is somewhere.” Alex proposed for the humpteenth time. Recently, he has been insisting on the matter and it's starting to get under my skin. I admit that I long for her but looking for her is out of the question. “ Let's assume I find her, then what, Alex? What should I do? Go on my knees and beg for her forgiveness? You know even if I do that, she might not want to see my face. I hurt her deeply.” I replied in frustration. I can't go looking for her and get bitter words shoved on my face. Call me selfish but I can't handle rejection coming from my mate.In my current situation, I am afraid my beast can't handle it. I am scared we might end up hurting her for the second time. Also, with the danger looming over the pack, I can't have her life endangered. “ Is your pride and ego too important than your life and the hundreds of lives in this pack? With everything happening and that man back for revenge, do you think you can handle him in your current situation?” Alex asked. I could feel the bitterness and disappointment in his voice, making me shut my eyes momentarily. “ You don't have to keep reminding me about my situation. It's my body, I know myself. Besides, I have made plans to settle the feud between Drake and I. If I can't defeat him, you will take charge of the pack.” I announced. This is a decision I made after much thought. Alpha Drake seeks revenge for the death of his mate, Serena Williams. The grudge is personal, it doesn't have to involve the pack. I will challenge him personally to settle the debts between us. “ But Alpha…”“ Say no more, accompany me somewhere.” I cut Alex off before he could start persuading me. My decision was final and I wasn't about to change it.Leaving the pack, I allowed Alex to drive us to our destination. Two hours later, the car parked outside the famous V-spot club. “ What are we doing here?” Alex asked and I grinned at him. “ To meet someone and have fun.” I answered mysteriously, stepping down the car. “What are you up to Noah? I don't have a good feeling about this.” Alex whined and I fought the urge to roll my eyes. “ Relax, nobody is going to die tonight. Or at least I don't plan to kill someone tonight.” I answered, shrugging my shoulders and making my way to the entrance. Stepping inside the club, the blaring music and neon lights dancing around the room made the mood lively. Following behind me was Alex who was murmuring to himself. My eyes scanned the room, searching for a certain someone. I didn't need to search for long before I spotted him. Being an alpha, he was bound to stand out. Grinning, I made my way to his table. On his lap sat a blonde who seemed to be doing her best to please him. “ You are late.” he spat immediately I settled down. Alex stood besides me, his stance telling me that he was ready for action if need be. “ I said we will meet at eight. I didn't state the exact minutes and as you can see, it's still eight.” I replied, popping some nuts into my mouth. “ Ain't you worried I'll poison you to death?” Drake sneered, making me chuckle. “ You wouldn't dare. Besides, I know you are looking forward to the proposal I have.” I declared. I knew the guy well enough to know that he wouldn't show his face here if he was not the least interested in my proposal. “Then get down with it and don't waste my time.” He snarled at me just in time for the bartender to arrive on our table. “ Excuse me gentlemen, can I get something for you to drink?”I froze. That voice! It sounded so familiar yet unfamiliar. Slowly, I turned around and my eyes widened at the face that stood before me. She was still the same, only more mature, adding more to her beauty. And those eyes. They were the same that haunted me every night. “ Hazel.” The name left my mouth before I could control myself. With a clank, the tray she held kissed the floor. And then… She fled.I stood up abruptly and started following her. "Where are you going to? We have not finished our meeting." I heard Drake's voice. I did not turn to look back as I was on a mission. My mission was to find Hazel in whatever hole she had run to. Was it a coincidence or just good luck? I had come here to negotiate with Drake and had ended up finding my long lost mate. But I knew something, this was a second chance given to me to make things right and I wasn't going to let it slide.I pushed a few people that were in front of me to make way. One guy yelled obscenities but I did not care, I wanted to find Hazel before she could disappear again from my life. I didn't know I missed her so much until I saw her. My beast was pushing through in an attempt to take control but I wasn't about to let him free. I don't trust him one bit when it comes to Hazel. I can't have his longing ruin things for us. Coming across the only door she disappeared into, I tried Pushing it open only to realize that
“ Hazel please, I am begging you, don't do this. I am so sorry." Noah said while still in pain. Being an Alpha, why did it seem like the pain was too much. Usually, a rejection doesn't hurt an alpha like it affects omegas. He had run after me outside.I had escaped outside thinking that he would go back to his drinking and leave me alone but he was adamant."Stop following me or I will scream.” I threatened.“Please listen to me.” He pleaded.I stopped to look at him before saying, "I hate you so much I wish you were dead. I do not want to hear anything you have to say." I didn't mean it,deep down I knew that I would never wish anyone bad. Especially when that person was the father of my kids. It didn't matter what he did to me in the past. He deserved pain but death was out of the topic.I just wanted him to leave me alone. Seeing him again was filling my mind with dark clouds that weighed down on my soul."You don't mean that. Please, you are my mate!" He said while looking at me with
Chapter EightI arrived home tired and worn out. It had been a long night; from the fight I had with Noah, to the rude and stubborn client I attended to. I was so ready for bed, other things could wait. The only thing I needed to do was check on the twins. They were my lifeline, the only reason I was working hard. I needed to do everything I could for their survival and safety.I tiptoed into their room, careful not to wake them up. My girl was a light sleeper; any slight noise could wake her up. I did not want that. It made me happy to see them sleeping peacefully and soundly. I wished I could maintain the peace and stability we had started having in this city. I had vowed not to disrupt their lives again. My vows were going to be broken because of Noah. His appearance back in my life had made me make a spur of the moment decision. I did not want him to get near my kids or even know that they existed. I did not know how he would react if he knew he had kids and I was really not willin
Chapter NineDrake POVThis woman looked familiar. I had seen her somewhere but could not just place it. Her scent, which was warm and inviting, smelt familiar. I continued staring at her for a few seconds. She was beautiful, hazel eyes, a striking face and a mouth to die for. I was sure she was not one of my conquests because I would not have forgotten about her. Her face was too striking to forget. A man, especially an alpha, never forgets his prey. The issue was still bugging me but I decided to shelve it. I had not come to the office to socialise with workers who were beneath me.“Hazel, please ensure you see me after work.” I said before heading to my office.“Yes sir.” She answered politely. It was her voice, the way she said ‘yes sir’ that brought back the memories. She was the lady from the V-Spot club. It was all coming back to me. She was the same lady that Noah had followed to the other room. I did not hear whatever they had been talking about but I knew it was something se
Chapter TenNoah’s POVThe sound emanating from my chest was more of a growl than a groan. It was like my pain was caught between my two sides; the human and the wolf side. I did not know what to do. My wolf was starting to go crazy and I did not like it. I knew it was only a matter of time before I turned rogue. A rogue alpha was a danger to his people. These people needed to trust me enough to tell me their troubles. They could not do that when I was in a state of madness. The thought of Hazel was driving me crazy. She was near yet still so far, out of my reach. I wanted her with the intensity of fire and the fierceness of a storm. One thing was hindering me from seeking her out though; I was afraid of being rejected and humiliated. If only I could get an assurance that she would not reject me again, I would have already gone to her.“Alpha, your water.” A voice called out.Startled from my thoughts about Hazel, my hands flailed and I ended up knocking the jug of water from the maid
Chapter 11Alpha Drake’s POVI had had a long day, from meeting other alphas for a ceremony to supervising the building of another company of mine. These were tasks that I could not have delegated because they needed my presence. The only thing I regretted was not being able to see Hazel. I had wanted to pass by the company but I was exhausted and needed to wash off the day’s dirt. Pack business was sometimes draining. However, I derived pleasure in knowing that I had all that power in my hands. I could wield it the way I deemed fit. I could break anyone at will.Speaking of power, I needed to punish the wolves that were disturbing my peaceful rest. I had been hearing the noise for some minutes now but chose to ignore it. It was now becoming louder.“I want to talk to Drake now. Move out of the way.” One of the voices shouted.“I am not going to repeat myself. You better leave this place before I wipe the floor with you.” A voice I recognized said. The voice belonged to a member of m
Chapter 12Hazel’s POVI had woken up five minutes ago and was wondering why my alarm was not going off. The curtains were thick so I could not see the exact position of the sun. I pulled my phone from the bedside table to check the time. My eyes widened when I saw the time. I was late for work. It was ten minutes to my clocking time and I had not even taken a shower. This was a new job and I could not afford to get fired. There were no jobs that were readily available for me so I had to get ready faster.I went into the bathroom and hurriedly took a shower. I picked the nearest dress and put it on. I was going to skip breakfast because I had no time to make something. I opened the door and almost collided with Lucas.“I am so sorry. I was in a hurry. I did not see you there.” I apologized before raising my head.“It’s okay. I am the one who should apologize. I wanted to surprise you with breakfast before you left for work.” Lucas said.“That is very kind of you Lucas, thank you. You
Chapter 13Drake’s POVIt was dawn when I woke up. I almost went back to sleep but remembered what I had promised myself the previous night. I had treated Hazel harshly even after promising myself to woo her to my side. I needed to correct my behavior and get her to be on my side; otherwise I would not get any information from her. I did not want her to pull back after she had started warming up to me. I was going to apologize by treating her right and letting her know that I was still a gentleman. I prepared myself quickly and woke Marcus up. He was the one who was going to drive to pick Hazel from her house.“Why are we picking her up? Can’t she come by herself?” Marcus asked me for the third time.I knew he was wondering what had gotten into me ever since Hazel had joined my company. I had never picked any female employee from their home. In fact I barely interacted with my employees; I delegated my duties most of the time. This meant that I was rarely seen at the office unless it
CHAPTER 24: Lucian and his men have barged into Serena's residence. They certainly mean business with the look they've got on their faces. On the floor lay Serena and her lackey, Gerald. They lay face first on the floor and it's clear that they are heavily outmatched….Serena's POV~ Clip! Clip! Clip! Clop!....I heard the heavy footsteps stop right in front of me. My mind raced with tons of thoughts as I tried to figure out who the hell was behind this. I couldn't recognize their scent so they certainly weren't from Drake's pack - or my pack to be precise. And they sure didn't smell like Noah's pack. Could they be feds? Shit! Maybe they were able to tell that I kidnapped someone. But how did they figure it out so quickly? And how did they get my location? Something definitely wasn't right about all this. I could feel it. “Who are you and where is my sister?” a strange deep baritone resonated in my ears. I slowly raised my head up and took a look at the person standing in front
CHAPTER 23: A couple of black SUVs can be seen speeding across the road. Inside them are Alpha Lucian and his men. They have tracked Hazel's coordinates and are proceeding to go get her back.Lucian's POV~“How far away are we now?” I asked Max, who immediately stared down at his laptop screen. “About five minutes away sir” he responded. Five minutes?! Why was it still so far away?“Then tell the men to speed up, dammit! We don't have all day” I barked. “Calm down sir. Just be patient. We're almost there” he answered. I ran my fingers back through my hair in frustration. Nothing better have happened to Hazel or else there would be hell to pay….for everyone! In a couple of minutes the motorcade drew to a halt and the men got out. “We’re here sir” Max said as he closed his laptop and opened his door. “Well it's about time” I mumbled as I opened the door and got out of the car. “Lead the way. Let's get my sister back pronto” I ordered the men. “Yessir!” They echoed as we commen
CHAPTER 22: The scene opens with Noah and Ken walking back to the car. In a last minute decision, Noah decided to abort the mission without offering any explanation as to why. Ken was rather displeased. He really wanted to get his hands on Drake's pack. Noah's POV~Clip! Clop! Clip! Clop!....The sound of our footsteps quickly blended into the symphony of the city’s nightlife as we walked out into the main street. With both hands in my pockets, I looked around the city as I walked slowly. I still couldn't tell why I called off the mission so prematurely. We didn't even get to start. “I still think we could have taken them on,” Ken said, his voice rather annoyed that we didn't eventually do anything. I didn't respond - I didn't feel the need to, at least. My mind was plagued by other stuff like exactly where Hazel was; because I had a hunch that she wasn't in there. I've known Hazel for ages - I know her scent, her aura, I know everything about her. If she was in that mansion,
Chapter 21: Lucian can be seen on his king-sized bed sleeping like a log of wood. While sleeping, his facial expressions change rapidly showing anger and disgust. Lots of sweat drops have distilled on his forehead and he has his fist clenched. He is clearly having a nightmare - something that's very much unlike him. What could be happening?....Lucian’s POV~ “STOP!” I yelled as I sprung up into a sitting position on my bed. I looked around frantically only to see that I was in my room. “Hmph, thank goodness it was just a dream” I muttered as I placed my hand on my chest. My heart was beating really fast. That stupid dream really took a toll on me.Suddenly my room door barged open with armed men storming in as Max stormed in right after them. “What's the matter sir? Are you okay?” I almost had a heart attack when the doors swung open. “Are y'all nuts? Haven't u fucking heard of knocking?” I asked, as I tried to recover from a terrible mix of the startlement I just went through
CHAPTER 20:Hazel's POV~“Come on, you can do this Hazel” I whispered to myself as I kept slithering through the air ducts. I didn't like the feeling I was getting. It almost felt like I would pass out soon. I was beyond claustrophobic and this whole arrangement just worsened it. I could feel myself about to panic. I had to keep reassuring myself that I would soon be out of here. How true that was, I didn't know. Frankly, I didn't even want to care. Who knew how long this air duct could possibly be? Suddenly while I was slowly inching my way through the duct, I heard sounds coming from behind me. I paused to be sure I wasn't just hearing things. I was certainly not moving around trying to make any noise as I didn't want to attract the attention of Serena. As I stayed still, I closed my eyes so I could listen properly; and indeed I heard the noise again. Someone was following me! “Shit!” I cussed in a whisper as Ifrantically began to try to increase the distance between us. I felt m
CHAPTER 19: Hazel's POV~“Urghh!!!” I groaned silently as I tried to reach the air vent above me. I had somehow successfully cut the ropes with the piece of broken glass. I legit don't even know how I did that, but I did it. Now all that was remaining was to get out of this freaking room. Standing on top of the chair, I tried stretching to get to the air vent but it was pointless; I was too short. Well, judging by how far away it was from my reach, I would suspect that only a handful of people could actually reach it from this chair. “Hmph” I sighed, thinking of what action I should take. I didn't have time. If that bitch Serena walked in here and caught me like this, I would definitely be a goner. Ain't no way she'd let me get another chance to escape. It was now or never. I got down from the chair and dashed to the door. Then looking through the fish-eyed lens, I scanned the outside. There was no one out there - yet. That could easily change in a split second, so it certainly wasn
CHAPTER 18: Hazel's room was plagued by screams and yells as Serena had tortured her for hours on end. She was tired, wounded and worst of all, almost felt hopeless. The room was quiet as a graveyard now. The repetitive sound of water dropping in a shallow puddle on the concrete floor briefly dispelled the silence, but brought about a rather hypnotic aura……Hazel's POV~My body was weak. Every part of me groaned in pain. Serena was a witch! A demon! A devil! If I was going to survive, I needed to get the hell out of here. The bitch was out to kill me. I looked around for a possible escape route. The room had no windows, just an air vent. Judging by the looks of it, I was probably underground. I was left with just two options, getting through the front door (dumb as that may sound) or making my way through the air vent. I certainly didn't like the idea of squirming like a worm. But did I even have a choice? I could barely even tell if it was day or night. There was no clock her
CHAPTER 17: On the same night (the night after Drake's death), Liam and the rest of the pack can be seen gathered in Drake's mansion front yard. Liam's POV~ Standing on the edge of one of the fountains, I stared down at the rest of the pack. The looks on their faces showed how devastated they all were. We had lost our alpha. It was beyond devastating to be honest. What hurt me the most was the fact that I warned Drake about kidnapping Noah's kids but he wouldn't listen. Now look how it all ended. However, I wasn't about to give up so easily. I certainly wasn't going to let his death get us down - it was time for me to fulfill my role as the second in command and teach Noah and his pack a lesson they'll never forget. “Brothers and sisters….” I spoke up, silencing the murmuring and chattering. “As we all know, our beloved Alpha is no more.” I paused, letting the weight of my words sink in. There was a solemn silence - with an almost bloodthirsty aura to it. “But are we going to
CHAPTER 16: Outside the room where Hazel is locked up, Serena suddenly hears Hazel's voice. A smile appears on her face as she walks into the room. She has been waiting for this moment. What does she plan to do to her?....?Serena's POV~“Hello? Hello?! Is anyone there?!” I heard her muffled voice yell from behind the door as I sipped from a bottle of coke. I ain't gonna lie, I had been waiting for her to wake up. I couldn't wait to see the look on her face when she figured out who kidnapped her. The thought of it was so exhilarating. I sipped the last drop of my coke, tossing the plastic bottle away before making my way towards the door.“Oh, you're finally awake?” I said, chuckling a bit as I wound the doorknob and walked in. “W-who’s there?!” the little mouse squealed. I loved the slight hint of fear lacing her voice; it was so appetizing. I walked slowly towards her. Her chair was right in the middle of the room, underneath the dangling lightbulb - the only light source in
