Kathryn stammered. She cautiously looked up and hurriedly lowered her head after she glanced at him. His gentle smile was just a figment of her imagination!

Chris pinched her face and lifted it. "Are you scared of me?"

Her heart skipped a beat, and she didn't dare to say a word.

He looked at her startled expression. The coldness in his eyes was instantly replaced by interest. He wondered when she would stop being afraid of him.

Chris eventually let go of her when she was about to suffocate. "Eat."

Kathryn couldn't bring herself to eat anymore. She was too scared!

He arched his brow when he noticed her stillness. "What's wrong?"

She closed her eyes and said shakily, "I want to eat a fried egg!"

Chris' eyes shone brighter. "Are you asking for more food?"

Kathryn realized the gravity of her words belatedly. But she couldn't take back what she said.
