Chapter 439

Phineas noticed that Chris was no longer the same as he used to be.

He had always known that Chris harbored a deep-seated resentment toward his mother, a lingering animosity.

In the past, no matter what happened, Phineas could usually resolve it by appealing to his brother's sensibilities. However, the same tactic seemed to have lost its effectiveness this time.

Phineas looked at him, confused. He struggled to discern Chris' thoughts. Yet, the look in Chris's eyes was so well concealed that it was nearly impossible to decipher.

Eventually, Phineas got up. "Reclaiming the Baydem Group would condemn her to a fate worse than death, Chris. I implore you to reconsider."

Phineas also referred to Krista as "her." It seemed like Krista had made a bad name for herself in Harborlean over the years.

Growing up, Krista must have left a psychological imprint on Phineas, one he wasn't willing to accept even now. Yet, beneath that reluctance lay a glaring truth—she was still his mother.
