Kathryn quickly took the glass and gulped down half its contents to relieve the fear in her heart.

"You have another cold?" Chris asked.

"Maybe," Kathryn quickly answered. She prayed that Chris would stop talking because every time he did … she couldn't keep up at all.

She was terrified that all her efforts would be wasted at the last minute.

Chris touched her forehead, then said, "Hmm, there's no fever this time."
