Chapter 2: Tangible Reason
Missy wasted no more second after the call, jumping off the bed as she dashed right into her closet not before obtaining a slightly big and wide traveling bag from a corner inside her room, zipping it open and relocating some of her clothes from where they were hanged right into the bag.Determination filled her eyes, overshadowing how nervous she’s feeling about her plan coming to success. The only way her future is guaranteed and secured is getting out of this house that wanted to destroy it saying they’re doing it something good. She just can’t imagine her life with Tyler Locke. He’s a monster, everybody knows that, he won’t only did what he did to his other wives to her, he would also wreck her young growing life. She just doesn’t want that. How could they allow the marriage, what prompted her father, her mother is less to be blamed as she seemed coerced to support the decision. But her father, he was pretty grounded and determined to marry her off not only to a stranger she has never met once or even has an idea what he looks like. He is a popular tycoon in the city, she has never for once googled him up to know what the monster actually looks like. She bet he is ugly. The only sketchy thing about it was what her father saw that made him decide the only option is to marry his only daughter and child off to a man termed a monster. How classic. She can as well jump in front of a train if truly there’s no option left. She heard clearly of the news that backed the separation of him and his second wife, not to even talk about the third one.Barring the age differences between them, a man’s personality is what a woman needs to be comfortable with before they engage in a love relationship. That use to be Missy’s quote about those couples she’s seen multiple times on TV that are far older than each other and together. It could differs from the husband to the wife or the wife to the husband. However, what Missy knew about Tyler’s personality is enough to make her pick death over a union between her and him. She doesn’t really know much, but the world has told her much or exactly what is needed to be known to run off the earth just to be away from him.Yes, she may not have seen his face before or met him once even, but with what the world paint him out to be, she can very well wish for a day that they would meet never to happen. Thus, tonight of there introduction won’t be happening like her father wanted. Her mental image of him is ugly and appalling to the sight, for someone with that reputation, he sure has appearance issues. She was sure of that.Done with getting the bag packed and ready, she went over to her window that was already broken. A weird expression morphed on her face as she opened it more widely, peeping over to the ground. A sigh escaped her lips before tossing her bag outside the rails, the heavy object fell per the gravity, falling down the duplex building, her face scrunching up at how badly it landed. But she could bother less, something far greater is for her to worry about. The knock on her door snapped back her attention to the room, quickly composing herself she brought her head back in, closing the broken window back up and walking over to the door to go attend to whoever was knocking.“Yeah who is there?” She asked the moment she got there, her hand on the knob but not twisting it open for the guest to gain entrance. It could be her mom or dad, and right at the moment both faces are the least of what she wants to see at all.“It’s me, Missy, I came to check on you and see if you’re alright. Are you okay now? And can we talk?” Her mother’s voice came up like she guessed, her presence setting Missy off the edge a little rage seeped into her facial features. She literally told her she wants to be alone. She can’t help the spite she felt towards her because she just plain agreed with her father for marrying their only daughter out to a monster.Did she even attack the decision? Or just stood there and let her husband chose a path of destruction and pointed it for her daughter to start walking on.“Yes, I’m perfectly fine, I just need some time alone to get my head straight and in line with you and your husband’s selfish decision.” She replied, the will to sound normal straining and faltering as she came out rather too rude than normal.“Honey, you have got to understand that this is for your own good and for your future also.” Mrs Lane replied her in her soft tone, that one could easily sniff out her sympathy for her daughter. But what can she do, she doesn’t really have a say in the matter. It was more of a final choice than a decision. Or was it really?“My own future, my own good, oh please did I complain to you I want you deciding for it or that I’m having problem with the both? And yes, getting your eighteen years old only daughter married to a guy given the term monster seems like the perfect decision for my good and future. Kudos mom and dad, you’ve just earn yourself the best parents of the year, your applause would come in later. Now if you do not have anything else to say, I’d greatly appreciate my privacy to wallow and loathe the reality that you and your husband recently initiated in my existence.” Missy spoke with so much resentment that her intense glare on her door could be felt even by her mother who was opposite and wasn’t really seeing her; just hearing her. It was vivid in her voice how much hatred she abhors currently towards them. It could build a mansion if it was money.“Alright, but your father wants you to know that the dinner between you and the Locke’s family is scheduled to hold at 9pm sharp. It’s 6:30pm already, he wants to know if you’re getting ready already, because you have to look your best in order to entice him further. Goodbye now, Darling. I’m once again sorry for putting you up for this.” With that said, her figure restricted backing away from the door and exiting the vicinity. The soon as Missy heard her departure she rushed back inside, grabbing her phone and credit cards and other valuable assets of hers that fits in her small purse. She rushed changing the gown she was claded in.She wore a rugged fitted tiny jeans quickly instead and a pink customized cropped hoodie that had her name boldly scripted on it with a crown on top the M, she untied her bun releasing her long straight mid-waist black hair. She moved out of her room, walking down the hallway and talking the route that leads downstairs.Missy did her best, walking out of sight and casually as she approach the door with fast pace. But her cover was soon blown as she heard the male voice called her name.“Missy!” The deep voice had called, halting Missy’s steps from moving further and having her figure turn around into seeing the man standing feet away from her.“Dad!” Missy called back in a casual tone, a smile popping on her face. Dang, that was suspicious, she is mad at him and suppose to stay mad.Davis Lane released a silent snort because why on earth would a girl he just told she’s getting married suddenly be smiling at him after she initially took the news badly when shared to her.“Where are you going?” He questioned, his gaze squinted at her. He knew something is off with her.“To break things off with Bryan, I had told him I won’t be coming to the party again and we should meet somewhere else-““Things like that can be done over the phone, call him and explain everything to him, I don’t need you away when we have just….” Davis spanned, his eyes moving over to his wrist and checking the watch tied around it. “We have just two more hours for the dinner.” He told her, cutting her off and wiping the smile off her face. A smile that was never really there.“No I can’t do that, please just let me go, I promise I won’t be long. It is simply to break things off and come back, doing it physically is a full closure he needed.” Missy pleaded, her palms coming together in front of him with tears already gathering under her eyes. The least she want was her plan failing, she has to get out of this house.“He could wait, I don’t find him important so you shouldn’t. Come now darling, I have had a maid get you the perfect dress for tonight. Come-““Are you this callous? Wicked so much that you’re marrying your only daughter off to a monster and you’re fucking okay with it!” Missy found herself yelling at her dad, tears pooling down her eyes already as she speaks.“I won’t have you disrespect me in that manner.” Davis scolded immediately, his facial taken a new solid look as it squeezed and darkened.“Tell me dad, why are you marrying me off huh? Tell me, I want to know the fucking reason you’re giving your daughter off to a monster. Tell me right this moment or I’m gonna to kill myself, fucking tell me!”“Okay!” Davis snapped, his eyes bloodshot as he gazed widely at his daughter with anger.“Fine, you little piece of problem, I lost everything, every single thing, all of it, all that makes up the wealth of Davis Lane, I lost it all. And you know me to well that emotions are something I don’t work with so why try to force it out of me, I loathe the fact that the only way to get myself back standing up is giving you away to the Locke for good, yes I’m strict and cold with you, but Missy I’m freaking loosing it inside, that my innocent eighteen years old daughter have to suffer from what I’m going through, but I have no option because I promise you the best of life. I took the deal, that you go spend some time with them and when I’m good again, you’re filing directly for divorce. I’m sorry Missy, I’m deeply sorry but you have to help me out. This is not my fault, this happened all of a sudden and there was no other option or any choice left for me. I’m sorry but there is nothing I could have done about it except what I’m doing now.”Davis let out, emotions displayed widely on his face as he spoke. A sting of tear lingering down his left eye as he wipe it away before it could make a chance of notice. His gaze moving away from Missy to hide the tears foaming more under his eyes.“What!” Missy voiced out finally, “What the hell!”Chapter 3: Elusive Dinner. Her lips were parted in express of her shock, a paled expression matted on her face with her eyes bulging. Trains of questions railing through her mind. “What happened? How did it happened? What went wrong? What are you saying?” Missy inquired with disbelief, unable to grasp the significance of what she’s hearing from her father. How did he come about losing it all? What is happening to him or happened that made him lost it all? Is it really possible he lost everything? Missy was beyond confused as well as astounded, her creased eyebrows merged with her scrunched face that gazed intensely at her father in expectation of a response.“I don’t know Missy, I honestly don’t know.” He answered, sincerity in his tone, looking away to hide the emotions surfacing on his face.“I just woke up one day and found out that everything I own was no longer mine and has been willed to someone I have no idea of. Whoever the culprit is gave me three days to either get out of
Chapter 4 Missy’s lips were temporarily sealed as she found herself speechless with her eyes glued to the huge man towering above her. The urge to toed herself upward and to kiss that lips of his inundated her desire that eats depth up to her feelings. The need to taste him, to feel what his lips would taste like against her spreading through her system like a wildfire. But that can’t be done to someone hurting your wrist and inflicting minor pains to your body, plus he’s a psychotic stranger that just proves the reputation given to him is no rumor. “Please leave me alone.” She pleaded, tired from struggling. “Are you telling me what to do?” His brows raised at her, daringly as he move them both till Missy’s back was now touching the nearby wall. Missy kept her lips shut, fearful of what his next action might be, than just gazing up at his intense eyes that shows nothing than a wrath unfolding on her when she has no idea what she did to wrong him. “Don’t keep quiet when I ask yo
Chapter 5 Standing in front of Davis Lane as he portrayed the priest and reading out to them the wedding vows that must be taken, Missy’s face speaks so much of her ongoing emotions, her feelings towards all that’s happening; and how she wishes to get away from it. While Tyler on the other hand held a void face to all that’s happening. Dressed in a beautiful laced up white gown, it sparkled against her body while her face gleams in perfection under the light makeup smeared on her face. “Do you Tyler Locke, take Missy Lane to be your wife, to love and cherish, to be with her during worst times, in sickness and in health, in good and bad times, till death do you both apart?” Davis read out, directed to Tyler with a gravid look expressed on his face.“Yes I do,” came out Tyler’s plain reply. “Do you Missy Lane, take Tyler Locke to be your husband, to love and cherish, to be with him during worst times, in sickness and in health, in good and bad times, till death do you both apart?” Th
Chapter 6 Missy’s lips couldn’t stop quivering in shock, her expression could only helped expressing on the matter. She stared in awe at her mother who finally took notice of her and turning fully to face her. They peered at each other with different insinuations. “Mom,” Missy called with her tone feeling held back, “Who are you and what did you mean by that?” She asked, taking failing breaths with many thoughts dribbling her head while trying to comprehend what she just heard.Mrs Lane scoffed with an eye roll, “I’m sadly not your actual mother, so stop with the icky title now that you know.” She revealed, looking away from her and back to zipping the traveling bag between her legs. Missy was beyond wordless, the capability to express in words lost in her system as she stared dumbfounded at the woman in front of her. What did she meant by that? Is she adopted? That would make sense if it aligned with what she heard. “Wha-““How-““??” Missy couldn’t form anything reasonable and o
Chapter 7Tyler tried to focus on his meal but the disappearance of Missy from beside him wouldn’t allow that. Where could she be? She should be back by now, she only went to call her mother didn’t she? What then is taking her this long. His fork tapped against his meal in silence, leaving his lowered gaze focused on Davis. Davis who was conversing with several friends and relatives wishing him congratulations and asking how Missy and Tyler become acquainted to the point of marrying each other. His business partner, investors in his company, all came to the event of Missy Lane marrying into the family of the Locke. Some asked if the marriage is arranged because lately Davis has been looking to expand and grow his company more. To a bigger level in the city, they believed uniting with the richest family in the city would archive that for him. Davis kept his tongue smooth and lied his way out of every question to keep their doubts sealed and that everything is okay. That the weddi
Chapter 8Davis brought out his phone, his fingers tapping on the screen with agitation, he scrolled through his contacts as he quickly dialed Missy’s number. His teeth nibbling on his lower lip biting it with restlessness. The call went through, ringing out aloud as Davis anticipated dearly for her to pick the call, the call ended and it wasn’t picked. This fueled more anxiousness. He redialed the number and it was same. He could the tension rising up his chest. Then Davis decided to call her mother, he called her but the call never went through, surprisingly her number was switched off. “Lane, whatever game you’re playing with me right now. I need you to stop it, because if I decided to play my own game, I can assure more than your life would be on the line.” Tyler said to him, not fazed by the sweats which had surfaced covering Davis’ face from his forehead, rolling down to his cheek. “I’m not playing anything I swear.” Davis insisted, wishing his words could be proof by anyth
Chapter 9Davis felt his soul quivering at his sight, his hand felt stiff and motionless holding on to the phone that hanged against his ear.He stared with fright, unnecessary heat radiating from his within as it blows out panic that had his heart thumping erratically. Right in his two clear eyes, he could see his life at a gunpoint with no idea on how to escape it. He prayed and wished fervently in his mind for a miracle to happen, but he was sure nothing is going to happen. Missy screwed him up, and there’s nothing he and she can do about it. “Please you have-““Last words fella, not some words of consideration because I won’t be giving that.” Tyler never allowed him finish his statement. “Okay then.” The gun went down as Tyler corked it into action, his finger slid in the hole beneath the corner with his whole hand supporting through the hold, touching the narrow button that released the bullet and attempted to press against it before a phone started to ring. It was Davis’ pho
Chapter 10 Davis arrived at the door of his room, twisting the knob into opening but it was stiff and felt locked. He tried it again and it was same, certainly his doubt that it was indeed locked. He knocked three times on the door, “Missy are you in there?” Davis asked out aloud into the door. “Yes Dad, please open the door I have to tell you something really important.” Missy responded from inside, the urgency in her voice bringing about a curios look on Davis’ face. “Alright, I will try breaking it down.” He muttered as he moved back before barging the door with his arm, he shrugged the painful impact off before retrying the procedure that only left the door juggling and not attempting to break.Feeling frustrated already he sent his leg flying into a kick and straight to meeting the door that still didn’t bulge into opening.“Move aside,” Tyler’s voice quested for a chance, having Davis halting his trials that was becoming frustrating for him. He moved aside like he was told, g
Book 2: Chapter 68 (The Finale Part & Epilogue)Tyler did by his plan, getting Dave, his brother on call with him while technicians from background tracked down his location. Soon information on where he hid was revealed and noted down, one of the team working with Tyler raised his thumb, signaling to Tyler that he was done. “Oh brother, you never had to be this bad. It doesn’t always end well for bad people, I want you to know that.” Tyler rounded up his casual conversation with him. “Yet your man is on the way with the documents, if that doesn’t spell my win, I don’t know what does. Goodbye saint, since you’re ironically the good one.” He replied, hanging up the call not interested in more bantering. “We’ve gotten it.” The same guy who signaled with his thumb, announced audibly again. “Good. Ray, gather some men and storm over. I want him alive.” He instructed calmly. “And you know where to bring him.” He added, looking over at him where he stood with the technicians team to see
Book 2- Chapter 67 (Semi Finale)Missy spent the few early hours of the next morning enjoying her decision to love Tyler, they remained snuggled in bed, talking about random things since they woke up. Not long, their sweet moment was interrupted when Missy got a call from her father. He said nothing than instruct her to rush over, there is an emergency. Tyler had to let her go, wanting to go deal with his own problem once and for all. They’ve already been working on it since he murdered their father. Both dressed up for the day, parting ways to their respective destinations. Ray remained with Tyler, and Dean went with Missy like he did the other day. Soon enough they were back in the Lane’s premises, striding side by side into their mansion. Missy checked the living room, seeing her father was absent, decided to check his office, there she met him in a frenzied mood. “Dad! What’s going on?” She walked up to him, quizzing against her confusion. “You were right.” Davis replied sim
Book 2- Chapter 66Missy and Dean arrived back at the mansion, late into the evening. They parted the moment they entered, Dean taking off to wherever and Missy on her way to Tyler’s suite. Her mind trolled about Tyler’s plan for the night. She wouldn’t lie to herself, she’s enjoying this sweet side of his. She got to his suite, entering only to the roses making a path on the floor of the living room, leading further into the room. A smile pulled up on Missy’s lips, flustered as she followed the roses, going into his room to see a dress box on the bed, and an enveloped notecard sitting pretty above it. ‘For my darling wife’ The enveloped notecard held the scripted title. Missy took the card, filing it open to remove the notecard inside. “For a lady prettier than the stars beautifying the night sky. Become your goddess with the dress.” Missy read the text, absolutely smitten as a wide grin morphed largely on her face. She dropped the card, peeling open the box to reveal a well f
Book 2- Chapter 65Missy was skeptical, torn up by what she heard, deciding not to express a reaction quickly went away from the door, gesturing towards Dean for them to return back to their feet. Her mind kept hurtling around what she heard, keeping a close call and a shady touch. She arrived by her father’s office, meeting him there as expected. He seemed busy with his work, thanks to his injured leg. He’s unable to visit his company and work from his company, now he’s doing it from home, leaving the company under the care of his assistant. “Hey Dad!” Missy greeted, purposely to announce her presence. She walked further inside, leaving the entrance where Dean already took a stance on guard. “Hey! I’m guessing you’re done with your tour. Are you about to leave?” He pushed aside the laptop he was working on, bringing his full attention to focus on Missy. “Not really, I came to discuss some things with you. It’s about my conversation with Theodore. He told me some things, not only
Book 2- Chapter 64“My mother faked her death while I got arrested, and detained in a cell. She then came for me the next morning, I think she’s got some connections with the Chief PO. They released me and I went away with her, while walking over to her car, she made us ran away from someone I have no idea of. I asked her who it was, but she talked around it and didn’t let me know exactly who the man was. Although, she later said it was her husband, husband from years ago, husband I have no idea what she did to him that makes her scared of his return. We got to her private abode where I’m sure none of you knows where, she introduced some guy to me as her housekeeper. Unknown to me, the guy was her son. She lied to me, and the same guy took me out and sent me back to jail; with my mom’s interest. If you still think I’m lying, this is going to be my last truth of convincing you. My mom had this plan with The Connors, they were going to kidnap their son, and I will be made a mask, a facia
Book 2- Chapter 63“Welcome to our home. Missy will go on now and put you to a room, and give you a little tour of the house. I know you must be famished, so let me quickly go make you something to eat. After your tour with Missy, you can go freshen up and Davis, your father would look into his closet and find something casual for you to wear.” Kristen pointed out for everyone except Kory, her mother and Missy’s escort. They had just returned home from the FBI’s station and it’s noon already. The gathering soon dispersed with everyone leaving to tend to their given instructions. Kristen left for the kitchen with her sister, and Missy left with Theodore and Dean trailing behind them. “So, should we try the brother-sister bonding of a thing?” He asked, letting his words break the silence. “No, not interested. Instead, talk to me about how my life is in danger.” She responded, her head nodding sideways to further confirm her words. “Well, if you go to your prom then you’ll die. Simpl
Book 2- Chapter 62His statement brought forth their simmering fascination. “What do you mean Delaney is involved?”“What do you mean your mother is involved?” Missy and her father asked at the same time. “Your mother is dead in case you don’t know.” Davis felt to inform him, thinking his words weren’t based with fruition. A grin lined his face, twinning his palms as he moved to relax on his seat. “Dead? You think my mother is dead?” He raised an amusing look, tainting his words with sarcasm so he would be unable to figure out. Missy and her father looked at each other, “You’re lying, he’s lying. You’re just trying to get out of here.” Missy called out, “Sorry, but we don’t want your information. Dad let’s go before he finds something more to keep us here.” She said, turning to her father as she grabbed him, dragging him up with her to their feet. “Of course I’m trying to get out of here, just not lying. Walk out that door and leave me here, chances are I’ll visit your funeral, Mi
Book 2- Chapter 61They all arrived at the FBI quarters in three different rides, one belonging to Missy and her escort; Dean. One belonging to Davis and his wife, and the last one transporting Kristen’s sister and Missy’s cousin. The clock was vast ticking down to noon, the sun up high with a bright shone through the sky. Walking in, an agent who was expecting their arrival led the way, taking them to the room where Theodore was kept for confrontation. Missy was the first to enter the room, her eyes landing on Theodore’s soft gaze at her. Irritation washed through her, instantly expressing it by averting her eyes. She came in further, letting the rest in have their space for entrance. The agent who came with them also turning around to leave. “You.” Missy lifted an index, pointing it directly at his face while she approached him with slow movements. “I want to talk to you, and you alone.” Theodore asserted, referring to Missy and Davis with his own indexes. Everyone exchanged gl
Book 2- Chapter 60Tyler had his father’s burnt corpse cremated further into ashes, spending his day arranging his funeral. He hadn’t broke the news to his mother yet. He wanted to add the news of Dave’s death alongside the traumatic news whenever he breaks it to her. He already had Ray on the job, working hand in hand with the private assassin he hired to remove his brother if he ever steps his foot into the city. Tyler stood by the grave, watching as they worked on making a tombstone out of the grave. His phone rang, disrupting his focused attention to the men’s work. He brought it out, knowing who was calling him by the anonymous name. He walked away for some privacy, picking the call after. “Was my message delivered or I have to repeat myself?” Tyler’s cold voice goaded the moment he took the call. “Pissed about the death of your old man?” A wry chuckle followed, evident in his tone the distress still bothering him, definitely from the physical assault received from Tyler yes
