Nyx gazed at the room Zurie had taken her; decked with a bright shade of wallpaper, victorian furnitures a queen sized bed and large velvet drapes.
She watched the wick of the candles slowly burn to cast a dimly lit glow on the room, pulling at the damned piece of clothing the vampire had made her change into. Spotting the entrance to the bathroom she inwardly thanked Zurie for letting her share her room.Feeling an ounce of relief when it seemed like he'd eventually forgotten about her for a while. Reaching for the faucet, she turned it on, letting the surprisingly warm water cascade all over her body that had begun to scream out its exhaustion.Once she was done, she wrapped the neatly folded towel firmly around her body before sprawling herself over the clean bed, curling up into a ball and slowly feeling the cold grip of tiredness drag her deep into the abyss of slumber. †††Nyx felt soft pair of hands shaking her awake, with eyelids still heavy from sleep, she fought to keep them open and fixed on the petite silhouette standing right in front of her. Zurie continued to awaken her till her eyelashes finally fluttered and her eyes parted open."Good morning Zurie," she groaned."Good morning. I come bearing bad tidings," the female fidgeted. At her words, she hurriedly plopped down the bed, heart racing frantically in her chest."what is it? Did he order my execution?"She shook her head in dismay, " no. Much worse. He asked you be moved to the barn."Nyx shrugged, unsure of what she'd meant. "The barn. Alright. That doesn't sound too bad. Tell me, what animal am I working with? A goat? Sheep? or a cow?"The dhampire tsked at her ignorance, "not that kind of barn. Here, feeders are placed in a place called 'the barn'.""Wait. Hold up, feeders? As in human blood bags for vampires?!" She exclaimed."Yes. If you're kept as a feeder, it'll not only lead to your eventual demise, it also tampers with your sanity. Even powerful hunters cannot bear the bite of an elder vampire." It was a fate far worse than death for any hunter. In the next minute, she rushed over to where he'd been spotted, pulling the huge mahogany doors that revealed a library. She gasped, mouth wide open, she marveled at the room that held several antiquities and books that spiralled from the bottom to the top in a fancy shelf-like staircase. She walked over to the shelves, running her hand through the books stacked neatly, captivated by the breathtaking ambience she found herself forgetting the reason why she'd come in the first place, picking one that had ‘Medieval vampires and their bane’ as the title.“Ahem..”She heard someone clearing their throat. Jolting from fear, the book slipped from her grasp, falling with a loud thud.“I didn't mean to startle you.”Nyx heard the most beautiful deep voice speak she hurriedly turned back, jaws dropping at the gorgeous handsomeness that stood before her. His ochre irises glimmering when he blinked, his golden locks smoothed back. His tunic stood tucked neatly into his breeches she exhaled when he neared.“I must have had you shocked. I apologize.” he leant over to picked the book up, wiping some imaginary dust off it he chuckled. “Vampires and their bane? Intriguing.”“I...I..huh..I didn't mean to intrude.” she stuttered, struggling to form proper stings of words.“I guess we're both guilty of intrusion then. I'm not supposed to be here either. Draven hates it when you go through his personal belongings.”She fidgeted, reeling backwards and nearly stumbling until his sturdy arms grabbed her to prevent her from hitting the cold floor.“Careful. You're one clumsy human.”She couldn't tell if that was a complement or an insult, but she wondered what he was going to do to her now that he'd mentioned she was human she cringed from him.“I won't hurt you.” he helped her back to her feet, “I don't share the same views as my kindreds. I don't prey on human's weaknesses.”“Why? You hate us.”His eyes twinkled, crimson bleeding into them, he smirked. Turning on his feet he pushed the book back where it belonged.“I wouldn't use the term hate'. Well, not that I feel hatred for humans, I don't.” he leant against the shelf while she stood planted to a spot, listening to him.“You're Lord Draven's she'. Am I right?”She scoffed, “She? I'm no one's she. Definitely not that cocky bastard's either.”He laughed like she'd said the most amusing thing in the world, his gaze trailing every inch of her, scrutinizing her. “That 'cocky bastard' happens to be my brother.”She gasped, slapping a hand to her mouth, “I'm so sorry.”“You don't need to apologize. My brother can be a dick most times.”This time, Nyx chuckled. Wondering what it was about him that made her feel at peace. He was a predator, that much she'd reckoned but he somehow had a calming way of speaking.“What is your name?"“Nyx.““Ahh.. interesting.” he fiddled with the ring on his finger, “beautiful name for a beautiful person.”She felt heat creep up her cheeks and turned a healthy shade of scarlet, until the door swung open and a very much angered Draven stood by the doorway. He scoffed, dragging his hand through his hair, his gaze burning through her like they could see through her soul, his eyes scrutinizing her, his lips holding a permanent scowl.“Hello brother.” the stranger smiled at Draven.“Callan, What are you doing here? with my human?”The vampire Nyx had just identified as Callan smiled, ignoring his brother's snarky remarks. “Not a good way to welcome your elder brother. Don't you think?”“I don't like you being around what belongs to me. And you're certainly not welcome here.“He chuckled, walking over to her, his hands held unto hers, he placed a subtle kiss to it. His other hand rubbed her cheeks when he whispered, “See you soon, milady.”With that, he walked out of the room.Wearing a wide grin, Callan had strutted out of the room, leaving her at the mercy of a now fuming vampire lord. He stalked forward, eyeing her with disdain and displeasure. “Have you now retorted to throwing yourself an any man that crosses your path?”She frowned in annoyance, “What?! Do I fucking look like a slut to you?”He grinned wickedly, liking the fact that he got to her like he'd hoped to. Deriving pleasure from her annoyance, the expression on her face and her gritted teeth evidence of her patience hanging on by a thread.“You seem comfortable talking to another man.”“Not my fault you don't know how to hold a sensible conversation.”He held her gaze, his eyes holding an unfathomable expression he closed the distance between them in a swift, lifting her off the ground to the desk settling at the end of the room she gasped, hitting at his chest.“Let me go!”He laughed, crimson bleeding into his irises and his fangs glinting with delight. Wrapping her legs around himself he
Draven paced his room, his body shuddering and recoiling when his annoyance boiled and fizzled inside of him. He saw red, his vision hazy with wild unbridled anger. When the pet he was supposed to feed on walked in with a collar on her neck he blurred towards her, strapping her in a swift to his bed. His body curled around her like a predator would to it's prey, his fangs finding purchase in the skin at her neck she moaned from his bite, eyes rolling to the back of her head.It was the pleasure before the agony. Hot blinding pain shot through her a loud cry parted her lips her body trembled, instantly going into shock. Her body convulsed under his hold when he continued to drag her blood into his mouth his hands firmly holding her in place.“My lord! You'll kill her!”Zurie cried out from where she stood, watching the whole painful ordeal.Draven's gaze shot towards her direction he hissed continuing on with his onslaught on the poor girl he'd nearly drained to the point of death. The
In the next minute they stood right in front of a door at the other end of the hallway. Zurie gave a few knocks before the large mahogany doors creaked open.Callan's body shrouded the doorway as he leant forward, his eyes twinkling with amusement when she hurriedly curtsied.“Lord Callan,”His plump lips curled back in a smile, “You know I can hear you from across the hallway. You could have just come inside instead.”“That would be highly disrespectful of me to enter a lord's chambers without a proper knock.”His head whipped to the side, like he'd just noticed her since they arrived. He scrutinized her appearance, his eyes dwelling a little longer on hers before he stepped back inside to allow them room. The room was an exact replica of the self proclaimed vampire king, save for the slight difference which was the purple drapes, a contrast to his velvety ones. When they'd settled in, Zurie held unto the leash she'd attached to her collar, holding her hand out as she spoke.“I would
Nyx continued to stare at Callan even as he rested leisurely on the sofa in the room. The mere act enough to irritate her as they both engaged ina staring contest. His head fell back, his hair dancing wildly around him.“What's your story, love?” he inquired.“Mm?”He gave her one of his cheeky smiles, “Your story. Indulge me on the little details.”She shrugged, adjusting herself at the edge of the bed where she sat. She wondered what he was playing at this time.“I don't have a story. But, even if I did have one, I'm not sharing with you.”He chuckled. His deep timbre voice resounding through the room melodiously. Crimson bled into his irises with a mix of amusement dancing in them. “Come on, now, little bird. Everyone has a story.” he sighed this time, “I know you're not comfortable being around me because I'm a vampire and quite frankly, my brother is a bad portrayal of my kind. Typical vampire tyrant, I tell you. I do understand your plight but I'm a little hurt you see us in th
“If Draven has such powerful support, don't you think it's a bad idea to want the throne? Especially if your father handed it over himself.”He stared up, lost in thoughts for a brief moment. He rubbed at his temple, smoothing the edge of his collared shirt."You're right, little bird. It is an absolute bad idea. My father did try to keep me hidden. More out of shame and embarrassment than our of love."“You said he loved your mother.” she quipped hesitantly.“He did. Once. Her remains in an urn decking his room was enough proof he once loved her.”Nyx gasped, clasping her hand over her mouth to muffle the sounds that nearly came out as a shriek from surprise. He let them kill her? All to please a goody-two-shoes vampire royalty?!“I'm so sorry...Did he–”“–No. Under the queen's command, Draven burned her on a funerary pyre after years of torture. She'd first had to die repeatedly by drowning when she had her wrapped in silver cage and thrown down the lake.” he cackled, his eyes shifti
Nyx sat pondering hard on what the sinfully beautiful vampire had just said. This wasn't the way she had envisioned their conversations to go, but she also couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards him. Heck, she would have happily obliged his every whims of she was his ‘She’ and not Draven's. Even the mere thought of the name made her skin crawl with disgust. She hated the vampire so much and would do anything to make him suffer even if it meant siding with his brother to bring him eternal torture. He had thrown her to the wolves! Made her a pet to be used and discarded the moment he made her an additional collection in his barn. But as much as she wanted to see to his torment, she also couldn't help but think this was a very bad idea.He was the king, and although his brother coveted the crown, he was still in charge here. She couldn't tell how powerful Callan was in the blood sucking hierarchy, but from the little intro he had just given her, he was obviously far back behind
A vampire asserting his claims on her like she was some little plaything to be owned was the last thing Nyx ever thought possible to excite her but when the words left his lips she had realized that she'd wanted nothing more than to be owned by them, shared between both brothers, used for their pleasure. Deep down inside, she somehow enjoyed the degradation, the humiliation Draven provided and it scared her. Some few weeks ago, she had been one of the most ruthless vampire hunter, her name topped the charts for her hatred towards their kind, they didn't matter, to her, they were just parasites that needed to be exterminated. Fast forward to some weeks later, here she was, leashed to Callan's bed like a dog awaiting his instructions.Callan had left her to herself, sometime during the night, they both couldn't sleep, one watching the other like a hawk would to his prey, while the other's wariness wouldn't stop the frantic beating of her heart. This wasn't the way she had envisioned the
“Maybe not try to throw me away like I was some piece of thrash would have been okay!” She yelled, raking her fingers through her hair. “It was fine when I didn’t know anything about you! When I didn’t care, you brought this upon yourself! You should have killed me that night or you should have left me right where I belonged!”He stared at her in disbelief, his lips parting for a moment like he struggled with his next words. Nyx wondered what games he was playing at this time around, why he was letting her feel these things, letting his guard down and showing her this sides to him that seemed to care. But it was all a lie!Draven was a mindless monster who cared about no one but himself. His steps faltered and he shuddered right where he stood, a muscle in his jaw ticking when he spoke. “These things you think you feel, these things that I feel, It’s all because of the bond. It would never have been possible if you weren’t unfortunate enough to be fated to me.”“Then end it!” She said
