*KINCAID'S P.O.V*

WHEN HE LED his men unto the clearing and saw Adrienne in all her shiny-red coat of fur, his head swelled with pride. He saw her defeat Lucy, even though it was not an easy win. Lucy was a trained warrior. But Adrienne was resilient, and she was a Luna. His Luna. The bond seemed to have added to her strength and size as she was bigger than he remembered.

When Adrienne took Lucy down, Kincaid walked forward to sniff her and comfort her. Then he turned to Lucy, he was going to send her away. His heart still had a soft spot for her, even after everything she had done, he knew she was in pain.

But the soft spot immediately hardened after Adrienne said those words, "She killed Roxanne. She wanted you all to herself."

He was blinded by rage as he thought back, seeing Roxanne's soft blond hair flitt in the wind, and remembering the nasty stares he had sometimes caught Lucy giving Roxanne. He had not thought of it until now and suddenly it was all crystal clear.

*KINCAID'S P.O.V*HE WOKE UP without knowing when he slept off. Adrienne was draped across his body, she was still sleeping soundly. He gently eased himself from her and swung his leg from the side of the bed. He sat up and rubbed his eyes. He felt Caer stretched in his head."You good, buddy?" Kincaid asked. The wolf spirit yawned and scoffed."You're okay," Kincaid snorted, standing up. He went to the bathroom to wash up. This was going to be a long day. He could feel it, and there was nothing better than a cold shower to wake you up.After a couple of minutes, he came out and dried himself. He was halfway putting on a shirt when he heard Adrienne's breathing pattern change. He turned and looked at her. She was awake now and her eyes bore in him.Her eyes roamed his naked body and he could feel blood pumping from his head and to his member between his legs. His cock was starting to swell gently and the scent of his arousal filled the room. He quickly snapped up its short and muttere

*KINCAID'S P.O.V*HE WALKED INTO the study and nodded at the men gathered around. There was Marcus, the former Beta, Delta Adam, Chief Thorr, and an elderly man with fluffy white hair."This is Chief Evian," Liam introduced. "From the tribe residing in the western border."The man called Evian bowed to Kincaid. "I am sorry I have not come personally to pay homage to you, Alpha." He said."Chief Evian recently lost his mate during labor," Liam explained. "The pup was shifted in the mother's womb. A lot of complications followed"Kincaid grasped the man's hand. "I sympathize with you, chief." He said. The chief nodded and bowed again, clenching his jaws and blinking furiously to prevent tearing up in front of his alpha."We have a total of six tribes surrounding us," Kincaid said, talking a sit. "Why haven't the rest of them answered my call?""They will be here soon, Alpha," Marcus replied. "It takes time to move an entire tribe over such a distance. They have to stop on the way more r

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*AFTER LYING ON the bed and revealing in Kincaid's scent, I stood up and stretched. I felt muscle aches in places I had never noticed before.Smiling like a Cheshire cat, I went to the bathroom to wash up. A few minutes later, I came out looking fresh. I packed my hair in a lazy ponytail and dressed up casually before stripping the sheets from the bed and placing them on the floor. I would get someone to launder it for me. I walked out of the room and headed downstairs to the big kitchen. It was rowdy and filled up with people. More people were arriving from the neighboring tribes, making our pack even larger and more populated. I moved a glass cup from the edge of the table, picked up a pup that threatened to tumble down the stairs, and thrashed a small rope that could be swallowed by another child. Before getting into the kitchen, I had prevented over 5 potential hazards."Good morning, Luna," Cedric said, coming up beside me.I smiled at him. "Eaten yet?" I asked

*KINCAID'S P.O.V*"DO YOU THINK Thorr is right?" Liam asked Kincaid after the meeting was over and other men had left leaving just the two of them. Kincaid shrugged. "He sounded right." He stood up from the chair and stretched. "And I know he was right on some things about the packs and alphas being against each other."Liam nodded."You should have seen the looks I received in that council meeting we attended," Kincaid said. "While you were sniffing your mate, I was enduring death stares from almost every alpha around me." He went and poured himself a glass of scotch. "And don't even get me started on what your mate's father said to me. You think that's normal?"Liam chuckled. "Depends on what passes as normal in this day and age." He picked an apple from the fruit bowl on the table. "A few generations back, this would definitely not be normal... but now, it is pretty normal."Kincaid scoffed. "It's not normal. I prefer the older generation when Alphas had a pure heart from the moon

*KINCAID'S P.O.V*FINN GOT SIGNIFICANTLY better over the coming days since he was made Gamma. There was a strong flow of energy flowing through him and the pack. After a few days, he could sit up. He was still lean and weak from days of not eating, and he was still healing. But it was progress.Kincaid crossed his ankles on the table, going through some papers concerning the pack's economic status. He might need to buy more land to expand the pack, as more tribes arrived. Chief Erastus arrived the day before with his tribe of over 100 people. He dropped the paper and closed his eyes. Luckily for him, he did not need to dispel any conflict between the tribes. They all got along very well and the chiefs seemed to respect each other. He swiveled on his seat slightly, enjoying the alone time. Liam was spending some time with his mate, he had earned the time. Most of his times were spent helping Kincaid to avoid any more fuck-ups. Adrienne was with the pack. He had seen her in action a

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*I DON'T KNOW which one gave me more joy, the fact that my brother was healing up very nicely and getting along well with Kincaid and Liam, or that all my tribes in the pack were getting along well too and cooperating with each other under me... or was it the attention Kincaid showered my body and mind with every night?Just the thoughts made my cheek flush red. Just this morning, Chief Fulman arrived. He had immediately gone to see Alpha Kincaid while his wife and tribe members were left with me.His wife, a slim tanned, and very pretty lady came to me. "Luna Adrienne," She bowed. "We brought gifts." She waved her hand behind her. Some of the younger boys carried a large dead animal. "We hunted it on the way here. I must say, my boys are very great hunters."I could see Helen, Chief Evian's wife ease closer. She looked at the dead antelope and poked it with her finger. She humphed and said, "Well it was a clean kill. I must give you that.""Of course," Fulman's wif

*KINCAID'S P.O.V*"HOW MANY TRIBES do we have?" Finn asked, walking into the office. He was now fully well and wasted no time in getting into his duties. Kincaid looked at Liam, who shrugged and answered, "About 6 or 7.""Well, one more chief just arrived. I think he called himself Chief Fulman." Finn said.Kincaid stood up and went to the window while Liam sighed. "How many more are left? 3 perhaps."The chief in subject came into the room, he bowed at Kincaid. "Alpha," He greeted. "I came here as soon as I could."Kincaid nodded. "Thank you, Fulman." "So what are the updates?" Fulman asked. "Has any new attacks come?"Liam shook his head. "No, chief.""Well, we must protect the Luna at all costs," Fulman said with a strong voice. "I can give some of my strongest warriors stay with her.""I don't think that is necessary, Fulman," Kincaid said. "She is well protected here."Fulman nodded. "Nevertheless, my wife, Betty, will stay with her." He bowed again. "I expect you will be calli

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*KINCAID SAT UP and looked at me. "What do you mean they were talking of killing you?"I shrugged and ran through what I heard to him. How I had silently crept away without knowing what the second woman was or even seeing her face, but I recognized that voice, and I will remember it anywhere. When I was done, he released a heavy sigh and sat up. "If Axel had arrived, I would speak to him." He placed his hand on my thigh, the point of contact sent heat waves rolling through my body and I shivered. "Don't worry, my love." He said, "I will get to the root of this. We are supposed to be united against our enemies. I can't have someone spreading poison into the hearts of other pack members."He stood up and stretched, not bothered by his nakedness. I loved the way his back muscles rippled and moved in a fluid motion and the way his tight butt looked behind the light. He turned to me and caught me checking him out. He smiled and came towards me, "You like what you see?" H

*KINCAID'S P.O.V*HE COULD FEEL himself. Which was a very weird sensation because he was fluid, like water. He was without form or physical body. He was without a body.It was like he was floating in a dark abyss. He saw a tiny speck of light in the far distance, but the more he tried to go towards the light, the more he drifted away no matter how hard he tried to swim towards the light. Finally, exhausted, he closed his eyes which didn't exist, and allowed the darkness to envelop him.Time did not exist in this realmAm I dead? He wondered."Come..." "Come..." He heard with his nonexistent ears. It was like a soft voice came from everywhere and he felt small but strong hands pull him forward. He opened his nonexistent eyes and saw that he was closer to the speck of light. It bobbed larger and larger as he went through it.He felt a sharp burning sensation coming from his left ribs. Wait, He felt something on his ribs?Concentrating hard, he found the muscle connected to his arms an

I doubt if he had gotten any sleep, he stayed up, watching me and the girl as we slept. The stares that woke me up were those of the Beta and Gamma.Finn's eyes were wide as he peered in. I stood up and shook my fur. Morraine whimpered and muttered something in her sleep, but she did not wake up.I stepped away from her and walked out, they parted ways to let me through. "Liam, take her up to my old room in the pack house," I mindlinked. "Set a warm bath for her and some clothes, and have breakfast sent to her."He looked dumbfounded, but he nodded and said, "Yes Luna." He entered the cell and gently picked up the girl. The morning sun was starting to rise over the pack. For some reason, there was a lighter mood over it. I saw some children chasing a butterfly. I saw Thorr basking in the morning sun with his mate. They both bowed to me.I entered thro

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*3 DAYS passed in a blur. Kincaid was not getting any better, but our alignment was improving. We had received more visitors from alphas that were previously against us. They were still a bit wary about me because of the vision that Arlana had told them, but many of them warmed up after a while. We got alphas from some major packs of the world. They all came after hearing what had happened to Kincaid. Liam and Finn helped assist me in being a hospitable alpha in place of Kincaid.I sat beside Kincaid's bed. A dark stubble had started growing on his chin, giving his lower face a darker shade. I grasped his hand, allowing Thea a little comfort by physically touching him. She had been agitated since all these started.I could feel his wolf too very faintly. The area around his wound was turning flaky now like the skin was going to peel off any moment.Remembering the cause for all these, I stood up angrily from my chair. I got down on all fours and slowly shifted. In t

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*I OPENED THE door and walked in. I saw the faces of the men turn and look at me. I saw their eyes widen in surprise at what I was doing here.It was Evian who opened his mouth and spoke first, "Luna, you shouldn't be here."I cocked my head. "Oh, I shouldn't?"He shuffled. "No, Luna. This is a meeting for the leaders...""Well, isn't someone missing?" I questioned, gesturing towards the empty chairs at the head of the room."Yes," Evian said, "But that is the alpha's seat."I smiled wryly and walked up to the seat. I maintained eye contact with each of the men as I sat on it. "I am the alpha now until my mate is well"The room was too stunned to move or speak anything for almost a minute. I swiveled slowly, the gentle creak of the seat brought them back. Finn cleared his throat and said, "Now we have the alpha in our midst " he winked at me.Liam nodded. "We can continue."I crossed my hands on the table and listened to them as they laid out the problems. Kincaid's

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*TWO DAYS LATER..."You had better wake up, Kincaid Stuart," I whispered. I could not keep on holding the tears in me, and I felt them drip down my face. "You have a child waiting for you. What will I tell him when he asks for his father?" I laid my head on his chest. "How will I tell him that his father died a few months before it was born?" I cried, his heart beat very slowly and faintly. It has been two days since the stab wound, and to his credit, Kincaid has stayed alive longer than his father who only lasted for a couple of hours. Kincaid's longevity gave the pack some new glimmer of hope. I looked up when I heard the sound of someone coming in. It was Arlana. She had really been helpful in tending to Kincaid over the past few days. She wiped her hand on her expensive-looking suit pants. She looked at me sadly and said, "Come, you shouldn't burden yourself with this sadness." She dragged me up with my arm."Are you any closer to finding how to reverse the curs

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*THE CROWD OF healers parted way as I approached. They stepped aside and gave me access to Kincaid. He was lying on the bed, his skin was deathly pale and there was a nasty purple wound on his side. The same place where I had that sharp pain a few hours ago."I'm so sorry, Adrienne," Bonnie whispered, clutching my hand. I turned to look at her, her eyes were red and tear-rimmed as were everyone's here. I could not afford to break down too, so I kept a strong face and nodded."He will heal, wouldn't he?" I asked, knowing the answer fully well. I had seen this wound before. Those months ago when I hid in the corridor and peeked through the doorhole at Alpha Ezra's final moments. His injury had been exactly like this. It was like deja vu. Like the moon goddess was playing us on repeat."He should already be healing," A younger girl cried as she carefully cleaned the wound. I looked around the room. Liam was stonefaced, I could not tell what was going on in his head. Hi

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*THE MEN HAS been gone for some hours now with some of the pack's warriors. I did not feel exposed one bit, I knew I was still surrounded by friends and people who would put themselves on the line for me but my mind was distracted.I paced the office tirelessly in a bid to distract my mind. Elsa and Bonnie came in to stay with me for a while, also trying to distract me as well as themselves, but it was not working. Eventually, they left me alone.I walked out of the office, Cedric was waiting for me outside. He was watching Trixie intently from across the room. He stood up as soon as I came out, I sighed at him and walked out of the pack house. I wanted to go to the healer's Grove where Bonnie normally spent her day. I had always been interested in learning about the herbs and how they were used, but I didn't want to see Amelia. I was sure she would immediately know about my condition. But I didn't want her to, not until I told Kincaid. So I stumped on what to do, or

*KINCAID'S P.O.V*THE ALPHA OF THE Brazen Moon pack, Marc, must have felt the change of energy and known that another alpha was close by.He stepped out of his packhouse, which was a low and long bungalow. Marc was a short and squat-looking man. He took one look at the incoming party of Kincaid and he shifted into his wolf immediately, knowing that there was no ground for talking. His Beta and scanty army followed suit and shifted too. They looked like a pathetic sight when compared to Kincaid.Alastair made a gesture with his head and his men leaped forward, spreading their flanks and going ahead. The few warrior wolves of the pack also joined in the attack. Leaving Kincaid and Alastair against the alpha and his Beta."As an honor," Alastair mindlinked. "The alpha is all yours." Kincaid grunted in approval. Alastair snarled and ran ahead, he collided heavily the the beta and they crashed out of sight. "Finn?""We think the alpha has gone on what might be a suicide mission," Finn replied."You," Liam called, pointing to one of the warriors lounging underneath a tree. "Find out the last place Alpha Kincaid was last seen." The warrior nodded and hurried away. "You," he pointed at another young man "Go to the garage and check if some cars are missing. Report back to me, either through the mind link or in the alpha's office." The man went away to do Liam's bidding. "Cars?" I asked. "If he wanted to go anywhere, couldn't he just shift and run there?"Liam nodded. "Yes, he could. But not to where we suspect he might be headed.""Where is that?" I prodded as we walked into the packhouse and to Kincaid's office.Finn pointed at the map. "Newcastle.""Why?" I asked, looking at both of them.
