*KINCAID'S P.O.V*

HE HAD NOT meant to kiss her. He had wanted to, but he was holding himself back. That was one thing he was grateful about the second chanced mate bond. It was more reserved and calm, not like that of a fated mate. They would not have been able to keep their hands from each other.

And he had been doing so well the first time when she gave him the cup of coffee. He wanted to kiss her and take her there and claim her to be his, including marking her so no stupid person could make the stupid mistake that Alpha Charles had made.

He was still under control, but her scent enveloped him, unraveling his warps of control. When he turned and saw the bite on her neck, that was the mark that had drawn him to North London when he was caught. It was startling red against her pale skin and red hair. He took one look at her face and knew his restraint was gone. Her lips were moist and her head was tilted up slightly to look at his face.

"Kiss her!" Caer ordered, threatening to tak

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*THE NEXT FEW days passed in a blur. I hardly saw Kincaid during the day. A pack issue that didn't need my concern had come up and he, Beta Liam and his father were working hard to resolve it. At night, we cuddled until we fell asleep in each other's arms. He had not pushed me to have sex, we just HD a very comfortable relationship.I also busied myself. The air around the pack was festive. Everyone was preparing for the mating ceremony of their alpha. But I was nervous, I didn't know how to be a Luna. Luna Amelia had been meeting with me and giving me some advice on how to run the pack, but most of the time, I ended up doubting myself. I feel like running away and leaving all the responsibilities for someone who wants them, but I look at Kincaid. He didn't want the responsibilities too. He was not ready to be alpha before his father died, yet he was handling the situation well. His determination gave me the strength I needed.I turned and groaned awake, expecting t

*KINCAID'S P.O.V*HER LOOK TOOK his breath away. She looked straight from the moon goddess. She had the light of an Angel around her as she walked forward and sat down beside him Every face in the hall beamed with smiles, and he was glad. It was a good omen when the pack supported the new Luna. His eyes swooped around the room, and he sighed. Not everyone was in support of this union and he knew it. He could literally feel her gaze burning into his skin. A few days ago, his scout had reported that Lucy had returned back to the pack. She had not said where she went but it was normal to visit outside the pack once in a while, so even though he didn't want to think too much of it, he was certain that it was not a coincidence that she left around the period that he announced Adrienne as his mate. He sighed again. "Big smile, Kincaid," his mother mindlinked him. He looked at her warily and she smiled. He plastered a fake smile on his face. "What's wrong?" Adrienne touched his arm. He

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*IT WAS JUST for a flitting second, but I glimpsed a resemblance of my mother in this Alpha Martin from the red blood pack. Maybe I was just imagining things. He exchanged greetings and he sat down with the family at the high table in front of the hall. I watched the pack enjoy themselves to the fullest. Even though alcohol did not have any effect on werewolves, I saw some men try to get drunk as they chugged down bottle after bottle of whisky and rum.Kincaid and Alpha Martin were talking about the state of their pack. It was not anything that concerned me, so I did not bother listening. The crowd was growing even larger as more guests arrived. I didn't recognize some of the faces, they must be from one of the neighboring packs around. One thing I have noticed in my time in Scotland is that there are many small discreet packs that live in the neighboring woods. They all pay homage to the larger pack closest to them, but most of the time, they stay on their own. Li

*KINCAID'S P.O.V* He watched anxiously, waiting to see if there would be any negative reaction from Adrienne to Jermaine, but there was none. He would not have hesitated to send them away if there was even a slight flinch from his mate. More people from the neighborhood tribes came into the hall, filling it to the brim to the extent that the elderly women started hoarding the little children out to make more space for the adults trooping in. Kincaid looked around the pack hall and he was proud that his pack had this type of power. He looked at his mother, she had a smile on her face as she conversed with some of the women from the neighboring tribes. Liam's father had a furrowed brow. Kincaid wondered what the man would do now that his position had been relinquished. He would still take part in the pack's decision-making until Liam was experienced enough to handle it, but then what? His wife died of some strange illness many years ago, and since then he had buried himself in his du

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*"LEAVING THE HALL WAS NOT so wise," Thea said in my head, and I couldn't disagree. I tried to conceal my fear as soon as Jermaine walked in and locked the door with that sinister smile plastered to his face. "What do you want?" I asked in what I hoped was a strong voice. He chuckled and walked closer without answering me. I tried to mindlink Kincaid but I couldn't. I had not understand how to do it."We have some unfinished business," He finally said when he was a few feet away from me. He raised his hand to brush my face but I took a step back, away from his reach. He dropped his hand and observed me with his cold eyes. "Did you know that I've had some history with your mate?" He asked walking closer. I watched his every move, making sure to remain out of his grasp. "At that moment though, I didn't know she was his mate," he said to justify his actions. "My sister only told me of someone that was making one of her friends uncomfortable and asked me to take car

*KINCAID'S P.O.V*HE WATCHED AS Adrienne was dragged out, but he did not feel satisfied or even appeased one bit. His blood was still boiling and his heart was hurting. "You can't do this, Kincaid," Amelia said to her son. "She is your mate. You pick the words of a stranger?""Lucy is not a stranger..." he muttered."I am talking of Jermaine!" Amelia said in a tone she had never used to speak to him before. He was taken aback at her outburst. "Jermaine... the man that... killed your fated mate.""I want to be alone now, Mother!" He said. "I want everyone to leave me."Amelia looked at him angrily, her face was flushed red as she stormed out. "Talk to him!" She growled at Liam before departing. Marcus sighed and rubbed his eyes. This was going the way he had wanted to avoid and he was getting tired of the dramatics of running a pack. His tenure was over so he was often asking himself why he still allowed himself to be dragged into the pack crisis. He looked at his son and then at Alp

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*AS THE GUARDS pulled me out, I could feel the panic start setting in my chest. Thea was hurting too at the betrayal from someone we called our mate, but to my surprise, I didn't feel hate towards Kincaid. Just hurt. The guards were a bit gentle, I could tell that they didn't want to hurt me but they could not disobey their alpha. They led me to the other side of the pack, that was a place I had never been to before. It was dark and deserted and surrounded by trees."I'm sorry, Luna," one of the men by my side said. "It's Alpha's orders... but I don't want to."I turned to look at them. I could tell that they were both conflicted. While I was in high school, I had read about the Luna bond with her pack and now I was experiencing it. The man by my right was a little bit more protective of me than the other guard. "Perhaps you could let me go," I said in a soft tone. I didn't want to be commanding as that would break the effect. The man on my right looked at the groun

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*THE WITCH? Was this "the witch?"Arlana gave a brief smile and then ducked into the tent and took a seat beside me. She was even prettier up close."You are the witch," I asked, but it was more of a statement. She nodded. "And you are... the Luna," she said, laughing softly. What was she on about? Was she a friend or foe? I was wary of her and told myself not to trust her pretty face and easy smile. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "You said you are from the Amazon River pack. You are a long way from South America." I said, putting my hand over the fire.Arlana shrugged. "I had a feeling to stop here before I continued my journey." She patted her stylish hair with a well-manicured hand. "Maybe the gods wanted to tell me something or show me something.""The moon goddess, you mean," I corrected."We have different beliefs, Luna," She said. "But yes, maybe all this was designed by a higher power. Maybe we were meant to meet."I scoffed. Higher power. All this was

He was without a body.It was like he was floating in a dark abyss. He saw a tiny speck of light in the far distance, but the more he tried to go towards the light, the more he drifted away no matter how hard he tried to swim towards the light. Finally, exhausted, he closed his eyes which didn't exist, and allowed the darkness to envelop him.Time did not exist in this realmAm I dead? He wondered."Come..." "Come..." He heard with his nonexistent ears. It was like a soft voice came from everywhere and he felt small but strong hands pull him forward. He opened his nonexistent eyes and saw that he was closer to the speck of light. It bobbed larger and larger as he went through it.He felt a sharp burning sensation coming from his left ribs. I doubt if he had gotten any sleep, he stayed up, watching me and the girl as we slept. The stares that woke me up were those of the Beta and Gamma.Finn's eyes were wide as he peered in. I stood up and shook my fur. Morraine whimpered and muttered something in her sleep, but she did not wake up.I stepped away from her and walked out, they parted ways to let me through. "Liam, take her up to my old room in the pack house," I mindlinked. "Set a warm bath for her and some clothes, and have breakfast sent to her."He looked dumbfounded, but he nodded and said, "Yes Luna." He entered the cell and gently picked up the girl. The morning sun was starting to rise over the pack. For some reason, there was a lighter mood over it. I saw some children chasing a butterfly. I saw Thorr basking in the morning sun with his mate. They both bowed to me.I entered thro

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*3 DAYS passed in a blur. Kincaid was not getting any better, but our alignment was improving. We had received more visitors from alphas that were previously against us. They were still a bit wary about me because of the vision that Arlana had told them, but many of them warmed up after a while. We got alphas from some major packs of the world. They all came after hearing what had happened to Kincaid. Liam and Finn helped assist me in being a hospitable alpha in place of Kincaid.I sat beside Kincaid's bed. A dark stubble had started growing on his chin, giving his lower face a darker shade. I grasped his hand, allowing Thea a little comfort by physically touching him. She had been agitated since all these started.I could feel his wolf too very faintly. The area around his wound was turning flaky now like the skin was going to peel off any moment.Remembering the cause for all these, I stood up angrily from my chair. I got down on all fours and slowly shifted. In t

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*I OPENED THE door and walked in. I saw the faces of the men turn and look at me. I saw their eyes widen in surprise at what I was doing here.It was Evian who opened his mouth and spoke first, "Luna, you shouldn't be here."I cocked my head. "Oh, I shouldn't?"He shuffled. "No, Luna. This is a meeting for the leaders...""Well, isn't someone missing?" I questioned, gesturing towards the empty chairs at the head of the room."Yes," Evian said, "But that is the alpha's seat."I smiled wryly and walked up to the seat. I maintained eye contact with each of the men as I sat on it. "I am the alpha now until my mate is well"The room was too stunned to move or speak anything for almost a minute. I swiveled slowly, the gentle creak of the seat brought them back. Finn cleared his throat and said, "Now we have the alpha in our midst " he winked at me.Liam nodded. "We can continue."I crossed my hands on the table and listened to them as they laid out the problems. Kincaid's

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*TWO DAYS LATER..."You had better wake up, Kincaid Stuart," I whispered. I could not keep on holding the tears in me, and I felt them drip down my face. "You have a child waiting for you. What will I tell him when he asks for his father?" I laid my head on his chest. "How will I tell him that his father died a few months before it was born?" I cried, his heart beat very slowly and faintly. It has been two days since the stab wound, and to his credit, Kincaid has stayed alive longer than his father who only lasted for a couple of hours. Kincaid's longevity gave the pack some new glimmer of hope. I looked up when I heard the sound of someone coming in. It was Arlana. She had really been helpful in tending to Kincaid over the past few days. She wiped her hand on her expensive-looking suit pants. She looked at me sadly and said, "Come, you shouldn't burden yourself with this sadness." She dragged me up with my arm."Are you any closer to finding how to reverse the curs

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*THE CROWD OF healers parted way as I approached. They stepped aside and gave me access to Kincaid. He was lying on the bed, his skin was deathly pale and there was a nasty purple wound on his side. The same place where I had that sharp pain a few hours ago."I'm so sorry, Adrienne," Bonnie whispered, clutching my hand. I turned to look at her, her eyes were red and tear-rimmed as were everyone's here. I could not afford to break down too, so I kept a strong face and nodded."He will heal, wouldn't he?" I asked, knowing the answer fully well. I had seen this wound before. Those months ago when I hid in the corridor and peeked through the doorhole at Alpha Ezra's final moments. His injury had been exactly like this. It was like deja vu. Like the moon goddess was playing us on repeat."He should already be healing," A younger girl cried as she carefully cleaned the wound. I looked around the room. Liam was stonefaced, I could not tell what was going on in his head. Hi

*ADRIENNE'S P.O.V*THE MEN HAS been gone for some hours now with some of the pack's warriors. I did not feel exposed one bit, I knew I was still surrounded by friends and people who would put themselves on the line for me but my mind was distracted.I paced the office tirelessly in a bid to distract my mind. Elsa and Bonnie came in to stay with me for a while, also trying to distract me as well as themselves, but it was not working. Eventually, they left me alone.I walked out of the office, Cedric was waiting for me outside. He was watching Trixie intently from across the room. He stood up as soon as I came out, I sighed at him and walked out of the pack house. I wanted to go to the healer's Grove where Bonnie normally spent her day. I had always been interested in learning about the herbs and how they were used, but I didn't want to see Amelia. I was sure she would immediately know about my condition. But I didn't want her to, not until I told Kincaid. So I stumped on what to do, or

*KINCAID'S P.O.V*THE ALPHA OF THE Brazen Moon pack, Marc, must have felt the change of energy and known that another alpha was close by.He stepped out of his packhouse, which was a low and long bungalow. Marc was a short and squat-looking man. He took one look at the incoming party of Kincaid and he shifted into his wolf immediately, knowing that there was no ground for talking. His Beta and scanty army followed suit and shifted too. They looked like a pathetic sight when compared to Kincaid.Alastair made a gesture with his head and his men leaped forward, spreading their flanks and going ahead. The few warrior wolves of the pack also joined in the attack. Leaving Kincaid and Alastair against the alpha and his Beta."As an honor," Alastair mindlinked. "The alpha is all yours." Kincaid grunted in approval. Alastair snarled and ran ahead, he collided heavily the the beta and they crashed out of sight. "Finn?""We think the alpha has gone on what might be a suicide mission," Finn replied."You," Liam called, pointing to one of the warriors lounging underneath a tree. "Find out the last place Alpha Kincaid was last seen." The warrior nodded and hurried away. "You," he pointed at another young man "Go to the garage and check if some cars are missing. Report back to me, either through the mind link or in the alpha's office." The man went away to do Liam's bidding. "Cars?" I asked. "If he wanted to go anywhere, couldn't he just shift and run there?"Liam nodded. "Yes, he could. But not to where we suspect he might be headed.""Where is that?" I prodded as we walked into the packhouse and to Kincaid's office.Finn pointed at the map. "Newcastle.""Why?" I asked, looking at both of them.
