MYLES

I could have easily said no, let him throw a tantrum in the hospital, but I didn’t. So now, I’m on his bed, pretending to be asleep and watching him go through his system.

He’d taken me back to his place, and true to his word, he only made dinner. Throughout it, he was quiet, never once lifting his head to look at me. What was wrong with him? Was this his new way of punishing me? If so, the silent treatment sucked.

Minutes after dinner, I’d freshened up and lazily walked out of his room to thank him and head back to the hospital when Jake’s call came through.

“Hey,” I said quietly when I picked up, my eyes on Tristan’s back as he spoke to Al. Something told me he could hear me, was listening.

“Myles? I just got back to the hospital, and the nurses told me you left with someone.” His voice was careful. “Where are you?”

“I…” I pressed the phone to my ear, closing my eyes and forcing the words out. “I thought I’d go eat something and come back quickly. I’ll be back soon.”

But it was neither—it was just Tristan.Every day, his best friend, by circumstance, was beginning to seem more like his uncle. Eros had been too wrapped up in the Aspen High situation to notice. What did the little psycho want this time? The question should be what had he done this time?Almost immediately, there was a sharp bling, and Eros' eyes dropped to the new message: an address. His brother's address.Drowsiness vanished. It had been ages since those two had seen each other, a separation ensured by the boss to keep them both alive after what happened with Theodore. Now Tristan was at Asher's house, telling Eros to come down?Curiosity and dread gnawed at him as he wasted no time, throwing on a shirt and dashing to his car.It was an hour's ride from the hotel where he had been hiding to his brother's pl

EROS"...You're not here because of my mother," Myles' voice cut through Eros’ thoughts as he stared up at the picture of a younger Myles and his mother on the wall. "You're not even here on your own."Eros turned around, finding Myles standing at the center of the quiet sitting room. Eros frowned. Did Myles always have this light aura around him? No wonder Tristan couldn't stay away. If there was anything the bastard loved more than anything, it was a mystery.Myles raised a brow, stone-faced.Eros nodded, "You're right. I'm not here on my own. Tristan sent me."He didn’t know what reaction he expected, but it wasn’t the flicker of hope that died almost as quickly as it appeared on Myles' face. He was right—Myles was already in too deep."Tell him my mum is getting better," Myles turned away. "He doesn’t need to send anyone anymore."As Myles made a step to leave the room, Eros called out, "You bumped into Asher. Sadly, that’s my brother."Myles' brows knitted, more in confusion than

TRISTANWhat had I really wanted to ask Eros before sinking into the comforting feeling of irritation? Was that all Myles said? What else apart from he didn't want to know about Theodore? He was so damn confusing. Here I was giving him information on a silver platter, but trust Myles to fling it in my face and raise the middle finger along with it.When I thought I had figured him out, like a shapeshifter, there were seven more layers to go through. Didn't he want to know about Theodore anymore? It must have been hard for him to keep his curiosity in check since that night, and now he didn’t want it again? Just like that?Fucking Asher. My fingers curled into a fist on the windowpane. Below, next to the pool, Mel kneaded sunscreen on Victoria's back. She saw me first, her face breaking into a smirk as she blew me a kiss.I scoffed, pulling back. At this rate, I had come to terms with the fact that they’d never leave. Al had also grown so fond of them that on some evenings they kept h

MYLES"If this is your way of getting back at me, then I'm telling you it's quite tasteless," I gritted out. When he smirked and fell back onto the sofa in the boutique we were in, I grimaced. That was all the answer I needed."It's a formal occasion," Tristan said, relaxing back, his eyes grazing over my body clad in a grey hoodie and denim jeans. "That would set you apart. As much as I like the way your ass pops in those Levi’s, it won't do."My cheeks burned, and my eyes widened. What the hell was he on about? I turned sharply to the workers behind me: a woman holding a jotter and pen and a middle-aged man holding a measuring tape.It was as though they didn’t hear anything. Perhaps they didn't get the insinuation. But I wasn’t stupid. This place was worth its weight in gold. When I first walked in, the receptionist had given me quite a look—the kind that rudely asked, "Did you miss your way?"Then Tristan popped in behind me, and suddenly I was "sir," with staff telling me not to

"Now, what would make you think that?"She studied my face and looked away sharply. "Not convincing.""No, no..." I laughed, holding her shoulders. "We go to school together, and that's it." Lying through my fucking teeth. "I just thought you'd like to see a new face, one that isn't Eros.""Really?" she smiled cheerfully. Too cheerfully. The atmosphere suddenly seemed too hot. "What's that face?"She slammed her fist against my shoulder. "Because you don't lace Eros with hickeys, stupid."I blinked blankly. "First of all, ew." The thought of Eros and... bile churned in my stomach. She stifled a chuckle. Okay, that was a breakthrough, one I would have been intensely happy about if it wasn't for— "Wh

TRISTANI would be the last person to ponder why the crowd had suddenly fallen silent. It was no secret—the mayor and his son weren’t on good terms. But once again, we were going to prove them wrong, and act like a family in front of the cameras, even if not a particularly happy one.“Hey.” Myles nudged me. Amusement broke down my walls when I noticed his flushed face. “Get back to the present!”More silence. Then Mum linked her arm with his, feigning a frown. “Yes, Emilio, get back to the damn present.” She turned to my father, “You and Viktor.” With an exhale she looked at Myles with a warm smile. “What do you know about the orchestra’s son?”Myles smiled sheepishly. “Not a lot, Miss... Seeing her face redden, I realized I wasn't where I was supposed to be."If you need me, I'll be outside your door," I announced, about to turn around."No." She shook her head vigorously. "Please stay with me. I don't want to be alone right now."Oh. I looked down at her, my shock evident in the rigidity of my body. Carrying her out of there had been a quick decision. Listening to her struggle with her sobs while watching her father and brother go at each other's throats had to be gut-wrenching.She was taking it so well, but she didn't have to. It wasn't right that she hid her feelings just so they would feel less guilty."Please stay with me," she said again. At that moment, tryin

Hiiii. Blue Haze here. When I started this book, I had no clue where it would drag me — or how deep I’d fall with it. The fact that my first step into this chaos found even a shred of success? Still shocking. But none of it would’ve meant anything without every single one of you. The story isn’t over. There will be a Book Two — and no, I still don’t know if Myles is breathing or rotting (but if you’ve made it this far with me😏, you know hope is a dangerous thing). Thank you for the likes, the comments, and the Gems — they were the only reason I kept going when the story got too...loud. --- BOOK 2 SYNOPSIS Tristan Medici has two goals: burn his uncle’s empire to ash and stand once more on the rooftop where his entire world bled out dead. He was close. Too close. Until the news came — a revelation so impossible, so gutting, it made him want to rip apart the only person he’s ever truly loved. But that was then — when life still held a little innocence...high school. This is no

Authorities have confirmed that Astor, 19, fell from the rooftop of this very hospital late last night in what officials are calling an apparent suicide....”More ramblings from the reporter on TV, words I can barely register. I feel like a husk, a husk full of nothingness... as though my soul had been snapped into two.El Refugio is a kaleidoscope of colors; I can barely see the Boss through bloodshot eyes. He shouldn’t be standing this close to me, knowing what I could do.But it seemed as though he understood, for he had his goons surround my chair, while Al sits beside me, watching closely. It was Al who’d broken the news, the first person I saw after I revived in that white, empty room that contained only a bed and the drip attached to my wrist.Ripping it out didn’t hurt as much as it should. The excess bleeding didn’t kill me. Ripping off the soft wallpaper and po

The way he had clenched at the wheel, his voice when he cursed, hollow and weak, with every word he dropped, it lost meaning.I should have sensed it sooner though, when Diego dropped all of those cryptic words before he pulled the trigger on his own self. It was all because of this.Retribution."Sir," the nurse beside me breaks the silence, the pity in her eyes looking at me frozen on the floor, "You need to get treated."I looked back at the bed, feeling m

*You first.*I shut my eyes. I think of my mum, Tristan, and Jade, wishing I’d actually spent my time with them instead of hiding away like a maniac. Maybe in another life…Another bang. I stay still, waiting for the pain to hit, but once again, it doesn’t. I’m still on the floor, brows knitting in confusion, listening to grunts, fists slamming hard against skin, muscle, and bone—then curses. One voice sounded like…Diego?I opened my eyes, and there he was—my stepfather, right on top of Connor. The gun was out of reach beside them, and Diego’s fists slammed hard against Connor’s face. It hit me then—Diego was a burly man, something I never really noticed before.Did he come to save me? Pigs couldn’t fly though, so I had to be dreaming…“Get off me, swine,” Connor struggled, but either Diego’s sudden rage was overpowering, or Connor was too dazed from all the beating. The gunfire outside resumed.“I told you,” Diego roared into Connor’s face, “I told you I was gonna get you if you dou

MYLESNo way out…The only window is barricaded with iron rods, ones I had desperately tried to pull down. But the air from the window gave me a clue as to where we really are — the salty scent of the ocean brushing past my nose. There’s nowhere to run to; the walls are thick. It’s been hours since I was left here, without anyone coming to check on me. Every time I hear footsteps, my heart skips, waiting for the lock to shift, but there’s nothing — just the sound of their footsteps retreating.I’m still groggy, so after hours of pacing, I’m seated at the far end of the room, watching the door, waiting for the last step I’d hear before it all goes blank.I wrap my arms around my knees, shutting my eyes. Mum… Was she okay? Hopefully, the mayor was there and wouldn’t let Diego move her.Perhaps she’d be alright… Perhaps I should think of myself and not Tristan. In Viktor's background, he could pick up the faint noise of traffic and his own car blazing down the road. He didn't need to be told he was being tracked. So predictable."Nico...""I can't get the memories out of my head." His voice was quiet, eyes on the light far away. TRISTAN "Where the hell is the Boss?!" I growled, slamming my fist against the thick glass demarcation. "You fucking tell me where the Boss is right now!" But the goon keeping watch only took a long look in my direction, shook his head, and walked out the door. My throbbing fists clenched against the glass. This… all of this was frustrating. Being dragged here, Nico ignoring me, throwing me into this compartment that felt like a damn asylum… and worst of all, not knowing how Myles was faring. All of it fueled my pacing, my yelling—despite knowing no one could hear me. There was a telephone on the wall at my side, the only way to communicate with the outside. But in my rage and fear, I couldn’t think clearly. I’d tried pleading once, but the goons had looked straight through me, as if I were a ghost, before stepping out. There was no way to escape. This place didn’t even have windows. Punching the glass was useless—my knuckles had already begun to bleed. I raked my finge

TRISTANThe phone pressed to my ear wasn’t mine, but from it seeped my uncle’s voice. He sounded strange—void—and with every word he spilled, it dawned on me why there were three goons behind me, pressing a gun to the back of my head. "Follow them peacefully," the boss ordered. My brows hardened and knit together, my eyes narrowing at the florist, who kept giving us nervous glances, but not once did she reach for the phone to call the police. They had warned her… or she understood the atmosphere’s language and realized it was better to stay out of it. "Cut it out, Uncle," I gritted out, the flowers hanging loosely in my hold. "Can we do this later? After I take Myles to the hospital?" There was silence for seconds before his voice came on again. "Look back at the car, Tristan. Do you really think you're in a spot to negotiate right now?" What did he mean by—? Myles was staring at me, his jaw set, his eyes soft yet unreadable. Beside him, Jade was climbing out, her hand
