Just when Nora exited Merrick's office, the shrill ring of his phone pierced the silence. Merrick swiftly reached for it and pressed the answer button, his face lighting up with anticipation. On the other end of the line was William, his voice filled with excitement.

"Merrick, my friend, you won't believe what I've just done," William exclaimed.

Curiosity piqued, Merrick leaned in closer to the phone. "What's up, William? What did you do? Don't keep me in suspense."

With a hint of triumph in his voice, William revealed, "I've gone ahead and purch
