Chapter 25

Eleanor

I slowly awakened from my short slumber, or so it seemed. I felt a slight headache and a little bit of dizziness. I raised my head up in an attempt to figure out where I was but my vision was still blurry. I blinked hard and navigated where I was. I was alone in a dark room with a lit candle as the only source of light. The room smelled of wet rusted iron. It looked old and deserted. I thought it could be used for a horror movie. I tried standing up then I realized I was tied down to a chair. I hissed in frustration. I tried to Frey the rope without making noise. I wasn't ready to call my abductors around and spread the message that I was awake. But they knew already.

“ Darling, you're awake. It was about time.” It was a voice I could never forget. Not in this lifetime. The place looked haunted and old and it was dead silent. August's voice echoed when he spoke. I looked at him in disgust. Was he so cowardly that he couldn't come to me in a more apparent way?
