Logan’s POV
“She will be leaving with me. Marcus here, offered her to me, and I gladly accepted her.”
“Marcus you did what?”
Looking down at Veronica, I could see she wasn’t happy to have been offered to me. She needs to be saved for this place with everything I have seen. But, little does she know, she is the one that had saved me. I’m eighty present sure, maybe more. From the moment I saw her, I knew who she was, but weirdly enough she didn’t know who I was.
I understood why she was afraid of me, I had a strong reputation of being cruel and heartless. But that is only because I was treated as such. The bastard son of the Alpha of the Crystal Moon Pack. I had to stand in to become the Alpha when my father died years ago because my father didn’t have any other sons.
Searching for years, I think it might have been nine or ten that I have been searching for her. Finally, I have found her. With Marcus offering her to me, it was all part of my plan. I knew that he would do anything to please his Alpha, even if it was to offer his own family. I knew he was a spineless jellyfish as soon as he introduced himself.
“Little one. I think it’s time that we leave. Go and change into something presentable.” I said as I looked down at her, she didn’t look up. “Little one?”
“I don’t have anything else to wear. This is all that I have.” She muttered under her breath.
I sighed and looked at Marcus with anger, “It’s alright. Do you have any belongings?”
“No…” She shook her head nervously.
Nodding as anger filled my veins quickly, “Okay. Then we can leave. Come on.” I placed my hand on her back softly but she walked forward. Clenching my teeth I walked behind her to the front of the building.
We stood in silence as we waited for my car to arrive. I wanted to talk to her but I could see she didn’t have anything to say to me. Each time I opened my mouth no words wanted to escape. Then I just gave up.
Finally, the car arrived and the driver climbed out and handed me my keys. Thanking him I made my way to the passenger door and opened it. I looked up and saw Veronica staring back at the place she called home. She slowly turned around and made her way towards me, she nodded and climbed in. Closing the door I let out a loud sigh and made my way to the driver's side.
As I pulled out of the driveway, thoughts started racing through my mind. Looking over at her, I saw she was almost hugging the car door. I knew she was scared of me. I know I had to prove to her that I wasn’t the way that everyone had made me out to be.

Arriving at the mansion, I led her to the door. One of my men opened the door and I greeted them, “Good afternoon.”
“Good afternoon Sir. Why are you back so early from the event?”
“Let’s just say things escalated faster than anticipated. But, on another note, prepare a room for my guest.”
“Right away Sir.”
“And Henry, make her something to eat as well.”
He nodded then walked away. Turning to face Veronica, I noticed that her hair hadn’t been washed in a while. Then as I continued inspecting her I saw that her skin was pale. A type of skin color that only happens when someone could be underfed. Then I noticed bruises on her arms, wondering if I was the one who caused it. How could anyone just stand still and be treated this way?
“What can I do for you Alpha?”
I snapped back into reality when she spoke, “What?”
“Is there anything that I should do for you? I will work for you as a maid if you allow me.”
“What? No, here you won’t be a maid. Here you will never be a maid again.”
“I don’t understand Alpha.”
“Logan. My name is Logan.”
“I’m so sorry Alpha Logan. I don’t have any work experience or anything. I… Please just don’t kill me! I’ll do anything for a living. I’ll even work in the sheds or something, but please just-“
“Stop!” My voice echoed, making her flinch. I sighed, ‘What did they do to you, little one’, “I’m not going to kill you. You’re safe here. I promise.”
She looked up at me with sadness in her eyes, and nodded, ‘Fuck. What did I just do?’ “Come on, I believe your room is ready.” She nodded and followed softly.

I opened the door and led her inside, “So, this is your room. If you need something changed or anything, just let me know.”
She entered the room and looked around without saying anything. I could see the confusion on her face as she scanned the room.
“Where is the bucket?” Her voice was soft but still audible.
“Bucket? A bucket for what?”
“I wish to clean myself.”
I let out a soft chuckle, but she had a straight face, “You’re serious?” She nodded. “No, no. There is no bucket. You have a shower.”
“A shower? I’m allowed to use the shower?”
With every sentence that leaves her mouth, I get more and more pissed at how they have treated her, “Yes little one. You have a shower.”
“Oh.”
“I can show you how it works. If you want.” She gave me a nod of consent. Making my way to the bathroom, she quietly followed me. Opening the shower door I explained to her which side was the warm water and which side was the cold. Giving her a small smile I left the bathroom and closed the door. I stood outside the door listening to if she would actually shower. Then I heard the shower door close.
Listening intensely, I hear soft cries. Closing my eyes I whispered to myself, “Oh, little one. I wish I had found you sooner. Before you were treated the way you were.” Shaking my head I made my way to my office.
Falling into my chair, Shia walked in, “What is it now Shia?”
“And hello to you too, Alpha.”
“What do you want? I’m not in the mood for small talk.”
“I was just a bit curious,” I threw my head back and looked at Shia with irritation written over my face, “I saw a new little wolf made her way here... With you.”
“Yes. And?”
“Who is she? And why is she here?”
“It has nothing to do with you. It is my business and it will stay mine.”
“Oh, come on. You know you can trust me.”
“Just leave. I don’t want to have this conversation with you.”
“Fine.” She threw her hands in the air as a sign of surrender, “I’ll leave. Have a good night.” She said with a devious smile then spun around, making her long blond hair sway in the air, and made her way out of my office.
Veronica’s POVThe sun shone through my window, and tiredness was unable to take me to dreamland. Making my way to my feet I made my way downstairs, searching for the kitchen. After a few minutes of searching, I finally found it. Opening the fridge, I saw the luxury of food displayed. With a deep breath, I grabbed some of the food and started making breakfast. I needed to show the Alpha that I was not a useless mutt. The smell of bacon and eggs filled the kitchen air, as the music echoed. I danced as I made food. As I turned around to place the pan of bacon on the table I was startled when I saw Logan standing behind me. The pan dropped to the ground and the bacon and its oils splattered all over the floor. Some even fell onto my skin, giving me burn wounds.“Shit! Are you all right?”“I’m-“ I bend down to quickly clean up the mess that I had made. But, sadly my eyes started to get watery.“Hey.”“I’m so sorry Alpha. I promise to clean the mess.”“Hey! Stop!” He grabbed my hands holdi
Marcus’s POVI waited on the ground in the grand hall, Alpha Ethan had asked to speak with me. The anticipation was killing me. My knees were hurting and I was getting tired from all the waiting. After last night by sealing the deal with Alpha Logan I thought I would be getting a good job or something. I saved the pack from not being able to protect themselves. Then the sound of footsteps echoed through the air. I sat up straight and waited to know why I was called here.“What the fuck were you thinking Beta?”“Alpha.”“Are you out of your fucking mind?” Ethan said then slapped me through the face.I closed my eyes but didn’t dare to show pain, “Alpha, I didn’t have any other choice. Alpha Logan was planning on leaving and-““And you decided to offer your step-sister to our enemy?”“Wait. I don’t understand. I thought you sent me there to keep them on our side.”“Exactly. Not to fucking give one of our pack members to him. Even if she was useless. What kind of message will this send t
Veronica’s POVPlacing my ear on the bathroom door to hear if Logan had taken me to my work. Yet, he did. With shaky hands I opened the door, peering out I saw the room was empty. Not even the curtains were moving. With a deep breath I stepped out, my feet sticking to the tile floors. I stood in front of my bed wondering if I should lay down or sleep on the mat that was placed next to it. “Why am I here? Why did Marcus make me believe that I was doing good by coming with Logan? I should have run away. Away from everyone and everything.” My voice was barely audible. Then a knock on my door made me startle. Making my heart beat extremely fast. “Who is it?” My voice shaking.“Miss Veronica, Alpha Logan had sent me to give you something. Can I come in?”“Um… Sure…”The door creaked open, and Henry poked his head through the opening. “I do apologise for the intrusion, but Alpha Logan requests your company in the dining hall in,” He looked at his watch, “Two hours time. Please take a nice
Veronica’s POVFalling onto my bed, I curled into a ball and tears just kept pouring out. The soft hum of the light filled the silence. It was late, and the moon cast a pale glow through the blinds, it casted painting stripes on the floor. I was trying to fall asleep but my thoughts kept drifting back to Logan. It was the first time he had raised his voice at me. Today had been the breaking point, with him snapping at me over something so stupid, so childish. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something much deeper was bothering him, and I don’t think it was the fact that I was underfed. It couldn’t be. And why would he care for me? Why would he want to be nice to someone that is nothing in a pack? A knock at the door snapped me back into reality. My heart raced as I stood up. I took a big breath and dried my tears and made my way across the room. I didn’t want to see anyone right now, especially not Logan. But the knock came again, more insistent this time. My hands trembling slight
Veronica’s POVMy eyes shot open as pain radiated up my leg the moment I tried to turn in bed. I blinked against the bright morning light that filtered through the curtains. My mind started playing back the event that happened the night before. ‘The fall in the forest. Can’t believe I was so stupid, I just had to stand still. Why didn’t I look where I was stepping? The sharp, twisting pain in my ankle as I fell to the ground.’I tried to sit up, but a stabbing pain shot up my leg making me wince. With a groan, I swung my legs over the side of the bed, gently testing my weight on the injured ankle. Nope. Not happening. I sank back into the soft mattress, frustrated I let out a loud sigh. Staring at the ceiling I heard the door creak open, startled, I sat up. An unfamiliar face stood in the doorframe, her silhouette sharp against the dim light of the hallway. Her eyes were cold, a predatory gleam in them. My pulse quickened for all the wrong reasons.“Hi?” My voice shaky.“You must be
Logan’s POVI sat in my study, I worked through the papers in front of me. Andrew gave a soft knock on the door and peered through the gap. Glancing up, I noticed he was anxious to tell me what he had discovered. “Enter Beta.” I said leaning back in my chair. He entered holding a file containing information I had asked for, but his face told me he had found more than we had anticipated. “Tell me. What did you find?” I leaned forwards resting my face on my fists, my interest peaked.Andrew cleared his throat, he glanced around as if the wall might hear, “Veronica’s past… It’s a bit complicated.” “Complicated? How?” “Well, her mother…”“Get to it Andrew.” “She wasn’t just the Luna of her pack. She was much more. Way more.” He said sitting down on the other side of my desk, “She… was a dream hopper.” The words hung in the air. I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my chin. Dream hoppers were rare, their abilities both praised and feared. To be able to control and traverse dreams gave o
Veronica’s POVA little glimpse of light shone through the curtains, shining right onto my face. I slowly started to wake up, rubbing my eyes I let out a yawn and let my arms fall onto the bed. I turned over and was greeted by an unexpected sight, a stunning dress hung over a chair that was standing in the corner of the room. Its delicate fabric caught the bright sunlight. Before I could admire the dress too much, a soft knock echoed through the room. The door slowly opened and a friendly face peaked in.“Good morning, Miss Veronica.” She greeted, her voice soft and warm, “May I help you get ready?”“Get ready?”“Oh, yes Miss. Alpha Logan has given me orders to help you get ready for the day he has planned for you.” She said as she started packing her things out on the dressing table.I nodded, and she gave me a hand to get out of bed. She led me to the chair placed in front of the mirror. As she worked on my makeup, the room filled with a faint scent of rosewater and lavender. Her ha
Logan’s POVAs we walked out of the dress shop, I couldn’t help but notice how skinny Veronica was when I placed my hand on her back. I glanced at her, but her eyes were fixed to the ground, she was lost in her own thoughts. It was understandable, today was overwhelming to her. She had never been to town and being around so many people. She had always been trapped away from society, only around people she knew.“Are you alright?” I asked softly. She looked up at me, her gaze didn’t meet mine, “I’m fine. Just processing everything.”I tugged my hands into my pocked, looking up at the sky, “That’s understandable. I get it. But there is one more thing that we have to do today.” It was silent, then I continued, “I want you to meet my pack.”Her eyes widened slightly, “Your pack?” She asked with hesitation.I nodded as I opened the car door for her, “Yes. You’ll be staying there, so it would just be fair for you to meet everyone.” She climbed in, and I made my way around the car and climbe
Veronica’s POVI watched as Logan walked away. My fingers nervously tapped on my lap, trying to calm myself, trying not to feel nervous and anxious. The thought of being in a place like this, it felt wrong, I felt so exposed. The chandeliers that cast a golden light that felt too warm, too suffocating. My heart started pounding as my eyes scanned around the room. I could feel the judgemental stares from some of the people here. The way they whispered behind their hands. I knew their whispers were about me, a rogue, an outsider. Someone who wasn’t worthy of being with the Alpha. And no matter how hard I tried to push it aside, to ignore them as I was told by Logan, I could help but feel like I didn’t belong here.Logan’s words played in the back of my mind, ‘You belong here. With me.’ But no matter how much I wanted to believe it, my mind didn’t allow me to. I was starting to feel like I was standing on the edge of something fragile, ready to break at any moment. Suddenly, the chair ac
Logan’s POVI stood at the bottom of the stairs, the whispers of my pack surrounded me like a background noise. Normally, I wouldn’t be fazed by their presence, but tonight was different. My focus was on her, and only her. Tonight was the night that I would show her what she meant to me, this wasn’t just any normal night out. She belonged here, belonged here with me. By my side as my Luna, no matter what anyone thought. The second I sent that dress to her room, I knew she would look stunning in it. There was no doubt about that. I knew Veronica was still trying to figure out who she was, still clinging to her past that had her scarred. But the woman I saw wasn’t a rogue, wasn’t someone broken. She was powerful, fierce, and despite everything she’d been through, there was something that made her… Mine.My wolf growled in approval as I saw her descending from the stairs. Her heels clicked against the floor. It was like my breathing had stopped, my heart pounded intensely as she was now
Veronica’s POVReaching the hallway leading to my room, my thoughts were still focused on the events of that day. But something was different… I was different. Everything that I saw, I saw differently, every sound, then I pushed open the door leading to my room, a strange sight greeted me. A black dress laid carefully on my bed, next to it was a note with beautiful, elegant handwriting.I slowly made my way closer to it, picking up the note, then I started reading: “I’m proud of you. Wear this tonight. I can’t wait to see you. - Logan”My heart skipped a beat as I read the note. His way of stating this always makes me fluster. His powerful, commanding tone. It made the note feel more personal than it should be. But the idea of him being proud of me, no one had ever been proud of me except for my mom. I set the note down and turned my attention to the dress. It was stunning. The fabric shimmered under the light that shone through the window. Picking up the dress, I made my way over t
Veronica’s POVAfter breakfast I made my way to the training grounds where Grace was waiting for me. My emotions were all over the place, I have never shifted into my wolf form. Anticipation and nerves were swirling in my stomach. The sun had made its way out of the clouds making the ground heat up and allowing the heat to attack my face. The sound of warriors sparring in the distance. The air smelled of earth and sweat, the smell of hard work. Grace stood on one of the platforms, her expression was serious, but I could see a hint of excitement. “Are you ready?” She asked as I approached her.Taking a big breath then nodded, “Do I have a choice?”She giggled slightly, then motioned for me to climb onto the platform. The space was made sure that no one can hurt one another when practising. There was a big tree casting a shadow over us. “Okay. So, turning into a wolf can be very overwhelming. Especially when it is your first time. With time it gets easier, but the first transition is c
Veronica’s POVThe sunlight slowly shone through the curtains, waking me up gently. I stretched, feeling that Logan was still lying close beside me, and I smiled. I sat upright, then quietly made my way to the bathroom. My muscles were sore in the best way, a reminder of the intense and wonderful night we had shared. It didn’t feel real, it felt like it was a dream that I was about to wake up from. I turned on the shower allowing the water to heat up. As the water warmed up, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, my hair was a mess. And the thought of Logan’s touch made my skin tingle once more. I traced my finger over my collarbone, remembering the way his lips moved over my body. Stepping into the shower, allowing the hot water to flow over me. The steam of the water covered the bathroom, making it difficult to see. Then I heard the door of the shower open and I turned around to find Logan standing in the doorway. Naked. “Is there space for one more?” He asked with a grin th
Veronica’s POVI stood there, barely able to breathe as Logan’s thumb brushed against my cheek. His touch, it was warm and comforting, gentle, shockwaves flowed through my body. My heart raced rapidly, making me warm up. If it wasn’t for the cold night breeze blowing through the open window I think I might pass out. “Logan.” I whispered, trying to find words. The pull between us, what was happening? It was like I wanted him, but I was afraid. It felt like the entire world was standing still but our breaths were indicating that it wasn’t.His eyes still locked with mine, I was both terrified and excited. With every encounter that we had, the pull hadn’t been so intense as it is now. I wanted and needed him, and I needed him now more than ever. “Everything… It… Feels different. I can’t stop feeling you. Your heartbeat, your breathing. When you’re not here it feels like you are.” I admitted, my gaze fell to his lips. His right hand fell to my waist, and his other hand still cupped my f
Logan’s POVI couldn’t stop thinking about her. They way she was standing there, her eyes shining with emotions she couldn’t hide. It felt that everything that had happened at the South Border faded in an instance. It was like she brought me back to reality, to what really mattered. She was the only thing that kept me going, to keep fighting, to survive. The bond between us, something I’d only felt, but when our skin touched it made her feel what I was feeling.I couldn’t believe that she had finally got her wolf, something that I knew she was longing for. Not able to stop thinking about her, my mind was with her and not in the boardroom where it needed to be. My mind was miles away. The chatter of my pack were only whispers, the table my eyes were fixed on was a blur. All that I could see was Veronica standing in front of me, her happiness to see that I have returned.“Sir?” Cain’s voice cut through my thoughts.I blinked, focusing on the long table in front of me. Cain was standing
Veronica’s POVI looked over to the direction as Logan and the pack made their way into the boardroom, the door then closed behind them. The reality of what had happened didn’t yet sink in. I was now bound to Logan, an Alpha on a pack, a leader that was strong and loyal. I had never imagined that something like this would ever happen to someone like me. But, for some strange reason it just felt right, like it was supposed to be like this.Leaning against the wall, trying to catch my breath, feeling the weight of every single thing settling over me. Grace made her way over to me, she didn’t speak but the twinkle in her eyes said that she understood. She placed her hand on my shoulder, her touch was filled with comfort and reassurance. “It’s a lot, isn’t it?” She said her voice just above whisper.I nodded, “I didn’t expect… This feeling. The way everything had happened. Nobody ever tells you how it is to find your mate. They always just say that it is magical, I didn’t expect anything
Veronica’s POVThree days had passed, and there was still no sight of Logan. The waiting started to make a knot in my stomach. For the past few days I sat on the steps waiting for him, hoping that he would return home. My eyes were fixed on the distant road, I started imagining how I would react when he would walk up the road. The warmth of the sun’s rays tickled my skin, but it did little to calm the worry.Everyday went by longer and longer without him, and the questions still played through my mind. What if something had happened to him? What if he was laying lifeless somewhere? What if?The bond between Athina and I was growing stronger day by day, and her presence gave me confidence. But the fear of not knowing if Logan was okay or not, gnawed at me. Leaning forward, resting my chin on my knees, the silence of the mention was soothing. I could feel Grace’s gaze on me, I knew she was looking over me. She gave me space, but if I needed her she would be next to me in just seconds.
