Chapter One-Fifty-Three: Our Room

"Did...did you follow me all the way here to ask me that?"

Her question was justified. The nursery, where their sleeping bean rested, was not the best place to discuss such a volatile topic.

"No. I did not follow you for that, I am here for the same reason you are, Milos.”

His words were partly truthful, emphasis on partly, but as if her question had been rhetorical, she nodded her head slowly, far too slowly, to hint at any sort of belief in his response.

A small hiccup escaped Milos's mouth before he adjusted himself in her arms, and within seconds, his little eyes sealed themselves tightly shut as his breathing grew calmer.

Wow, he had never seen it before, but babies really do fall asleep quickly.

"Is he asleep?"

Her glare told him he was the last person she wished to speak to, so he took no offence at the silence that stretched before she stood, kissed Milos’s forehead with a tenderness he wished was reserved for him then placed him back in his crib.
