Chapter One-Fifty: Confidence

"You crazy…!"

The words burst through me with such force that I almost utter ‘fuck’ to Marko, yet, though I could halt the completion of my curse, my hand still reaches for Marko's ear, tugging him to me that in his shock, he hunches towards me.

I do not mean to make him resemble an ill-behaved child caught misbehaving by their parent, but I cannot help it.

"Your knee is bleeding! What the hell happened?"

I knew the scent of mint had strengthened; I just never imagined that the source of the potency could be his blood. I have not known of anything capable of making Marko bleed.

He is invincible, or he is supposed to be.

"I just hurt myself."

"How?"

Even in Red Graw, none managed to draw his blood, so why now? Why here when there was no danger?

His body that was facing Katy threateningly turns to me fully, giving me the full view of his wound.

“This is-”

I try and comment on the broken skin, but Marko lifts my gaze from the injury to meet the silver of his eyes.

"Why did you leave me."
