LYNEXIA
I'm doomed. From the moment Julianne holds her knife so feebly, I know our training is doomed. There are only three people who can tolerate me enough to train me in combat. Gavin being the first, is busy. Dimitri, well, I hate him and even I can't tolerate his presence. And that leaves me with Julianne. When I first informed Julianne that she would train me in combat, she gaped at me and told me she didn't think she was the right person for it, but as the good, positive radiating girl that she is I was able to convince her otherwise and she agreed and convinced herself and me—barely— that she could do it. I rub my thumb on the pack of my forehead where an ache is starting to form from watching Julianne fumble a knife in her hold. There is nothing difficult about holding a knife but I doubt she can do that. What I have seen Julianne do so far is enough to conclude that she isn't fit to train me in combat but I still hold on to a flimsy hope because she is my only option. When I can't take the eyesore of the knife slipping from her hand time and time again, I walk to her, take the knife from her grip, and hold it like it should be held. "Like this right?" I ask her, twisting the knife in my hand. Julianne nods her head delightfully. "Yes. Yes. Like that." "Let's skip that then," I say, handing over the knife back to her. "So..." Julianne twists the knife between her fingers for some time before she can get a proper grip on it. She makes a series of very easy demonstrations in the air and tells me to replicate them. With a resigned sigh, I do them easily and even better than her. Julianne eyes widened with delight as if I did something extraordinary. She applauds me with claps. her hand. "Oh goddess, that is so good. You are catching up faster than I expected." No, I am not. The demonstrations are just too novice even for an amateur like me. When Julianne takes the knife from me to do yet another amateurish demonstration. I yank it from her hand and throw it across the floor. "I think that's enough," I say. "How about we fight?" Julianne nods her head. "that sounds good." She balls both of her hands into a fist over her face, ready. For a second, I think she may actually be good at one one-on-one combat but when she lunges forward wobbly and loses her footing, I know it's a dead end. I gape as Julianne tries to keep her leg ground, her arm flailing until she eventually lands on the ground with a wince. How can something as easy as that make her lose her footing? I shake my head. Finally accepting the truth I dreadfully don't want to believe. She isn't equipped with the skill to train me against the likes of Elena—she isn't equipped with any skill at all. I say with a resigned sigh. "Let's call it a day." I outstretch a hand to her and then lift her to get her feet when she takes it. "I didn't do well, did I?" She asks, wiping the speck of dust off her dress. "It isn't about you, I'm just tired," I say, feigning exhaustion. "I learn quite some good skill from you." I smile and she beams right back at me. I peel my eyes away before I linger too much and start seeing traces of my best friend in her. "If that is the case, then will you follow me to the store?" She blinks at me, adorably. "I want to get some flowers and paintings too. It will just be a few minutes we won't take long." "Sure," I say. "Okay," Julianne says joyfully. "Let me have a change of clothes. I will be right back." She splints back into the house. I mull over how to go about training myself. My wolf powers should have been my source of power but it's nowhere to be found and combat is the only thing I'm relying on. Though, it still doesn't hold against wolves like Elena, it is still something. With Julianne and Gavin out of the picture, it leaves me only with Dimitri. No. I shake my head. Like I said at breakfast this morning, I would rather eat pebbles than spend another moment with Dimitri. For a moment, I felt bad for what I said when I saw the pain flash in Dimitri's eyes, fleetingly. But it quickly washes away when I remember our past and why I am here in the first place. Julianne sprints out of the house and we then take our leave. A few minutes becomes two hours. We brought several things more than just paintings and flowers. We go from store to store, testing out lipsticks, mascara and mainly ladies accessories. I feel so light again and I enjoy coming with Julianne. With a sigh, we walk out of the last store toger. "It's been so since I felt like that." I say. It's been so long since I feel like the weight of the world isn't draped on my shoulder. "I know, right?" Julianne beams beside me. "Let's do this everyday, please." She drawls. I nod my head, knowing that isn't possible. As we start to walk down the sidewalk, Julianne says. 8"Thanks Lynexia." "Oh please, friends ste supposed to go shopping you know?" I snort. "True." We make our last stop to buy ice cream before we finally head home in a silence pregnant with content. My first suspicion should have been when I pushed the gate in and it opens easily with a lock but I'm still bringing with joy from this afternoon and I brush it off my shoulder. Besides, Shadow pack is relatively safe from things like robbery so it isn't common to not shut the door. The moment I step foot into the house is when my suspicion spikes up. The usual warmth the house usually have is now so chill that I feel it deep in my bone. Julianne must have felt it too because I feel her tense behind me as she walks into the house. I feel a pull of my dress from behind. "Someone is in here," she whispers. With my hand I gesture that she stays behind me. Without a sound, I pick the long broomstick leaving against the wall of the foyer. My heart hammers as the intruder finally comes into view. They look lanky, slightly taller than me, and their face is hidden behind a mask. "Who the hell are you?" I point the end of the broomstick at them. The intruder just smirk, their eyes flashing with subtle recognition. They know me but I don't know them. The lunge forward so fast, easily yanking the stick out of my hand and unto the floor. Before I blink, they push me forward, knocking off to the ground. I groan in pain, my eyes squeezing shut. When I open my eyes, the horror I see steals the air from my lungs. The intruder has a knife pressed against Julianne's neck. Julianne trembles against the hold, fear visibly rolling over her shoulder. "No. No. Please." I say, my voice thuck with plea. "Please...whatever it is that you want...please..." My voice cracks. With pure cruelty, the intruder presses the knife into Julianne's neck and let drip out of her throat. "No." I scream, like a banshee. My body trembles, overwhelmed by horror that just happened.DIMITRI Seraphina is extolling about a new technological advancement for trainees when my phone screen lit up with Lynexia's name—that I store with a butterfly emoji—. Alarm blares in my head as I stare at my phone screen Lynexia never calls me except if absolutely necessary and I am the last person she will turn to for help.. She doesn't answer my call either. She point-blank ignores it. I snatch my vibrating phone from the table, my fingers hovering over the screen as I swipe to answer. The moment Lynexia's sobs drift into the speaker, I jolt to my feet, marching across the room even before asking any questions. Fear, cold and heavy tightens around my throat like an unyielding vise. "Where are you?" I question. "Dimi..." Her voice trails off into strings of messy sobs. Seraphina isn't speaking anymore and Zarek who is also in the conference room gives me a questioning glance. But I don't have time for an explanation. "The meeting is over," I speak over my shoulder
DIMITRI I can tell Lynexia's hatred towards me is back with full force when I show up at Julianne's doorstep three days later. As the door swings open, a scowl etches into her cheekbones at the sight of me. She isn't a bit pleased to see me. I guess, it was good while it lasted. I enjoyed the company of vulnerable Lynexia and now she was gone back to the brooding Lynexia who won't hesitate to cut my balls off if she is given the golden opportunity. She rubs the space between her eyebrows. "Oh goddess, what are you doing here, Dimitri?" Her voice bites out my name like a curse. Her gaze sizes me up before sliding to Gavin standing right behind me. "Oh Gavin, it's always a pleasure to see you." Her lips curve into a smile but her eyes remain icy. Gavin grumbles a word behind me but I don't catch the words. "What about me?" I point a finger at myself, feigning hurt. "Aren't you pleased to see me?" "It's an eyesore to see you, always." Her response is swift. I lean in,
LYNEXIA As Dimitri holds the door open for me, I ask. "Don't you have Alpha stuff to do, today? How are you going to make time to train me, every day?" Apart from the fact that Dimitri isn't my favorite, the other reason I don't want to train me is because I assume as an Alpha, he has much on his plate. "Trust me, I have a lot to do but I'll make time for you always." He drawls. I scoff, crossing my arms. "Is that supposed to make me feel special?" "It should." His lips curve into a half smile. I roll my eyes. "Goddess, I want to claw your eyes out so bad." "Patience, butterfly." He chuckles, a deep, rich that slides down my body like velvet. "You will get your time." I stare at him, momentarily speechless. "You are so unbelievable." As we step into the narrow path, flanked by towering trees that form an arch, Dimitri places his hand on my lower back. Surprisingly, I don't attempt to shove him away from me. Besides, I need to start learning how to tolerate him since
DIMITRI When our training began, Lynexia was so bad, I often felt like tearing my hair out. But for four days, she has improved more than my expectations. Not only that, she has also begun to warm towards me. Lynexia's sneers and biting remarks, though still there, have reduced. It's as if she secretly enjoys my presence. Though, I know I'm just being delusional, a part of me cannot but hope that maybe we are not broken beyond repair after all. Even more surprising is the sight of her genuine smile. Though she quickly masks them with a scowl, I can't help but savor the moment she lets her guard slip as fleeting as it is. As usual, we went through a series of drills today which Lynexia is very obliged to do. She is determined to learn combat and I'm proud to see it. Though some of the training sessions have been hard, and it's been hard to see her struggle for anything at all but that hasn't made me go lenient with her. Knowing Lynexia, she will claw my eyes out and feed the
LYNEXIA So far my training has been going well. I have been tolerant of Dimitri more than I anticipated. And to be frank, Dimitri is an excellent trainer. He isn't lenient on me for whatever reason and so far he has not treated me like some fragile girl who needs to be pampered. Instead, he has trained me like he would any trainee. I have been proud of the progress that I have made so far. Without my wolf, I feel a tad secure that I can defend myself to an extent. It's probably me just being cocky but I don't exactly fear someone throwing me on the ground at this point. My wolf is still not responding to me, though I feel her inside of me. I'd have been contemplating informing Dimitri but was scared of how he would judge me. More than anything, I'm scared of people's scornful words and I can influenced easily by it but I'm trying to not let this be so. I'm draped in an off-shoulder red silk dress,—courtesy of Julianne—waiting for Dimitri's arrival. If Julianne was born in the
My body stiffens as the man halts in front of us, my hand going to the silver blade hidden within the folds of my dress. Thank goddess my dress is a flare. It makes it easy to draw out the blade. The man's crooked nose twists as he speaks, his gaze fixed on Maia. "The boss wants you now."The boss? Who is the boss? Maia licks her lips nervously, her eyes, heavy with panic. "I'm sick at the moment, I'll see him some other time." The man hisses, his voice holding a heavy stain of disdain. "That is what you said, yesterday. You can't escape this time." I watch their interaction, my confusion mounting. Why will a random man demand the Luna of a pack to come meet him? "I have a guest and I'm giving her a tour," Maia says shakily. The man hisses again. "She is sick. Tell the boss or whoever he is that she won't be able to meet him." I sneerThis is when the man turns his attention to me. He sizes me u
LYNEXIA In the dim light of the car, my stomach grumbles with a pang of guilt and frustration at the thought of what Maia is going through at snowcrest pack. It makes my heart hurt and I feel a hint of regret that I'm not in a post to help her even though I know there is nothing I could have done about it. Beside me, Dimitri grips the steering wheel, his gaze fixed on the road. Kilowatts of fury radiate from him, visible in the taut line of his jaw and his tightly set shoulder. No word has been said between us since we left Mooncrest pack. Shit. I almost forgot that I ruined his meeting. I was supposed to find information, but instead, I caused him trouble. "I'm sorry." I manage to choke out, swallowing my pride. "Don't be." He answers sharply, still not sliding a glance at me. "I should be." I press on." I ruined your meeting. Please tell me your partnership with Akexio didn't fall through because of me?" I bit my lips as I turn my head slightly towards Dimitri. "No.
LYNEXIA When I and Dimitri get to the Richards family house, a small crowd has gathered in front of the house. Dimitri didn't want to bring me but I insisted, leaving him no choice. As Dimitri and I exit the car Gavin and Seraphina approach us. Dimitri wastes no time. "What happened?" He asks. Seraphina side eyes me as if wondering why I am here but I pay her no mind. "He was slashed in the throat with a knife. Just like Julianne." Gavin's voice is strained as we emerge into the Richards family. "Where is he?" Dimitri asks. Gavin's expression is enough answer. He didn't survive it. "He wasn't as Lucky as Julianne. When it happened, it was only him and his six-year-old daughter that were at home." "Did she witness it?" I blurt out. My stomach grumbles at the idea of a six-year-old watching those horrors. Gavin's face is enough for me. "Oh my goddess," I whisper, my hand covering my mouth at the shock. "Where is she?" "With her mother. She hasn't said a word to anyone.
One Month Later LYNEXIA The first peek of the morning sun through the window hit my face and I stir awake with a yawn. I sigh, extending my hand to the other side of the bed to find it empty. Of course, what am I even expecting? I reluctantly climb out of the bed, while rubbing the remnant sleep away from my eyes with the back of my hand. The soft pad of my legs echoes in the air as I slip out of the room, making my way to Felicity's room. I used to grumble about me and Felicity's morning routine before everything went down but now I very much enjoy it. After almost losing my daughter once, I now bask and cherish every single moment I spend with her. I guess the saying goes you value something that you have used. Felicity's soft snores reach me as I slowly creak the door to her room open. Her beautiful, innocent face brings a smile to my face before I step into the room. I settle on the edge of the bed, tucking the strands of her hair behind her ear. I watch her sleep
LYNEXIA The words have just left my mouth before Elena lunges at me. "Shut it." She explodes. "I'm about to fucking end your life so stop being pompous." "What?" I scoff. "Were you expecting me to fall on my knees and beg for your mercy?" I say. "Is that it?" She slaps me across the face, the look on her face sinister. I know I shouldn't push her since she can be so unpredictable but I don't stop. "Shut it," She roars at my face. "I hope my death brings you the utmost happiness and joy. You sick, pathetic loser—." I choke on my words as something sharp digs into my stomach. I wince as blind pain throbs through me. I look down to find Elena's claw deep inside of me. Elena smirks. I shock her by matching it with a scornful, tight smile of my own. "Let's get this over with." I grit my teeth, doubling over as she pulls her claws out of my stomach. Blood drips off the corner of my mouth as my stomach starts to leak. "You should have shut it when I asked you to." "Why do you eve
LYNEXIA An ache starts in the middle of my head as I groan awake. I blink, confused as an unfamiliar room that resembles a barn comes into view. As my head throbs harder and more vicious, I try to reach out my hand to grip it but my hand jerks back against a hold. Then I wiggle my body, including my hands and legs. They jerk against a hold painfully that I have to grit my teeth. The headache is so much I have to squeeze an eye shut as I turn my gaze down to look at the state that I am in. My hands are tied behind the wooden chairs I'm seated on and my legs are tied around the legs of the wooden chair. My back screams with pain as it is arched uncomfortably. Panic sets in as I realize the danger I may likely be in. Seraphina brought me here for what? Why has she kidnapped me? What have I done? What is her aim in any of this? I don't have the luxury to think of an answer as I wiggle my hands, trying to cut the bondage around my wrists. The chair scraps loudly on th
DIMITRI"What is this about?" I ask, my voice tight with curiosity as Zarek leads me away from the quarantine camp towards a lone building at the edge "I'm afraid you will have to hear it from the person herself." Zarek glances back at me before he focuses front again. "Hear about what? Who?" I press as we slip into the lone building. A woman whose face is obscured by a veil turns towards me. Before I can ask further questions, she pulls the veil down to reveal her face. "Julianne," I say. "What are you doing here?" Her chest rises and falls with deep breaths. "I may have a cure for the black plague." "You have a cure?" I repeat, my mind reeling. This can't be true. Julianne nods. "Yes." This time, she sounds assertive. "How?" I ask, not knowing how to react to this. "I have been thinking hard about why Gavin, I, and Lynexia didn't get infected even though we came in contact with black ink. I have been racking my brain this past—." "Get straight to the point." I cut her of
LYNEXIA"No." Dimitri cuts me off harshly as if he already knows what I am about to say. My mouth falls open in shock. "But what if I can provide the cure?" Taking up Elena's offer doesn't feel so bad though dying sends a shiver of dread through me. "Let me guess, you have to put your life on the line for it?" Dimitri's eyes flash in disbelief. I grip the hem of my shirt tightly. Deep down, fear gnaws at me, but to save these people, to make this place livable for those I care about, I'm willing to risk everything. "Yes. If that's what it takes.""No, so get over yourself and stop trying to play the savior." Dimitri jolts to his feet, his chair scraping loudly against the floor. "Dimi—." "Stop it with this your useless hypothetical theory. You are no savior and you don't have the power to be the messiah." His words cut deep but I know it's the panic talking through him. He shoves his fingers into his damp hair. "I didn't let you hate me for five years just to make you be a sacri
LYNEXIA In a span of two days, things do take a turn for the worse. Bodies ply upon bodies. The shadow pack territory becomes a ghost town compared to how vibrant it once was. The number of people tolled into the trainee complex which is now the quarantine camp increases exponentially. The air is thick with despair and the stench of death. The children have been taken away from the town to a safer place leaving behind the healthy werewolves locked up in their houses and the rest of us brave enough to watch over the infected. The drugs that were given to us by Alpha Henry are running out and our healers are hitting the wall about any cure or drug to reduce the symptoms. Reaching out to other packs is useless because word has spread and most of them wouldn't open their gate to us for fear of being infected. I don't blame, I would have done the same if I were in their shoes. As the dreadful moment passes at a slow, tormenting pace, my mind lingers more and more on Elena. The
DIMITRI I groan. "Huh uh." She bites her lower lip seductively. "Yeah." Her hand squeezes me harder. My head falls backward, pleasure already clouding my thoughts. Lynexia takes my hand and leads me to the couch, pushing me down onto it. I fall easily onto it. Our eyes lock as she sinks to her knees, her fingers reaching deftly to my zipper. As she pulls it down, my cock springs out, thick and hard, slapping against my abs. Lynexia licks her lips greedily, her lustful eyes on me. "You want this?" I grumble as I wrap my hand around my thick girth before moving it up and down my length. She nods eagerly, her breath quickening. "Say it." "I want to take your cock in my mouth, Alpha. I want to taste it. I want to taste you." Fuck, Lynexia saying the sluttiest words with the sweetest voice while looking at me with the prettiest fuck-me eyes undo every part of me. "Take it, it's yours." As I let go of my cock, it slaps on my abs again Lynexia salivates a
DIMITRI When Lynexia walks out of the room. Her face is ghostly pale and her knuckles are bruised. Overall, she looks shaken like she's seen a ghost. I rush to her in panic, taking her hands in mine to inspect the wound. "Are you okay?" It seems to be healing slowly but still, something must have happened in the room with Elena. Her face is distant and she doesn't answer me. "Lynexia," I call her softly then more urgently before she jolts out of her trance. Her eyes dart around in confusion before she meets mine. "What is wrong?" I ask. "Huh?" She says, dazed before she shakes her head slightly. "Nothing." She murmurs in a distant voice. "Did Elena hurt you?" I say as my anger simmers to the surface. I swear on goddess if Elena is the reason Lynexia's knuckles are bruised, I will drag her head through the mud without giving a flying fuck that she is a woman. "No." Her lips pull into a forced smile. It looks natural but I know Lynexia too well. I can see thro
LYNEXIA The moment Elena and I walk out of Dimitri's presence and into a room, the fake facade Elena has on her face falls. Elena sits on a chair while I take the one opposite from it. There is something eager about her today. She still despises me but it is like she is excited about something. Whatever it is that she wants to tell, she can't wait for me to hear it. "What is this about?" I make my voice sound as neutral as possible. Elena smirks, crossing her arms over her chest. "I don't have time for this game you are trying to play Elena. Say what you have to say." The words rush out of my mouth. I don't have anything against Elena as much as she hates me but being in the same room as her for more than a minute makes my inside churn. "Trust me, you have all the time for what I am about to say." She says calmly unlike how agitated she used to seem in my presence. I roll my eyes standing to my feet. "Of course. My bad for thinking you have anything better to say." I
