Anderson's POV

I was shocked when I arrived at the police station for questioning and found out that Sarah was arrested as a suspect in the murder case because she was the prime suspect in the three previous killings.

She was smart not to mention her encounter with the three panther shifters in the alley. If she had, they would have locked her up for something she had nothing to do with—or at least, not entirely.

The officer, Claire in her late thirties with sharp features, flipped through the case file. "Mr. Holt, you said you had an alibi for Mrs. Cole last night?"

I nodded. “Yeah, I was with her in her apartment almost all night."

I shrugged. "Left close to midnight.”

Her brows arched as she leaned forward. “And your relationship with her is…?”

I let out a chuckle. "How does this force even recruit people? Didn’t I already tell you at the start of this interrogation that she’s my teacher?"

One of her brows arched in disbelief. “And what exactly were you doing in her apartment

Anderson's POVI tossed and turned in bed, the silence of the night doing nothing to quiet the questions running through my mind. The murder should have been all over the news by now upon the police investigation, but yet, nothing. Not even a whisper from the media. It made no sense. It's just like the last case. Although it was less of my concern, I could not get my mind off it.Curious to find out the reason, I decided to put a call through to Lila. At first she did not pick up, but on the second ring, she did.“Anderson? Don't you have an idea what time it is?" She grumbled, her voice groggy with sleep. I deepened my voice, a playful smirk tugging at my lips. "Couldn't sleep, Lila. Thought maybe hearing your sweet voice that soothes souls would do the trick."She was silent for a moment before responding in a confused voice, "Wait—what? My voice?”"Told you, angel, I just wanted to hear you," I teased, stretching out in bed.I imagined her blinking rapidly as her breath hitched i

Anderson's POVNeon lights flickered above as the bass from the speakers reverberated through the hall, giving the entire place an almost surreal glow as clusters of people crowded the dance floor, dancing. At the bar, Lucas and I both threw back shots as the conversation drifted lazily from one topic to another. Then, his eyes shifted across the room, a smile playing on his lips. I followed his gaze, locking onto Cara standing near the dance floor.“You know, if you keep staring that hard, she might just start feeling it on her skin,” I said, setting his glass down. He scoffed. "You always think you know everything. There's nothing going on between us."I clicked my tongue, shaking my head. “Mm-hmm. Sure.” I set my glass down. “So, that explains why you smiled the second you saw her?”He scoffed, looking away. “I smile at a lot of people.”"You and I know that that's a blatant lie," I scoffed.“Besides, I’m sure your late-night conversations with her are just you discussing schoo

Anderson's POV The ladies' restroom was dimly lit, the faint hum of the club’s bassline vibrating through the walls. I pushed the girl into a stall, our lips crashing together before the door even fully closed. Her hands were already tangled in my hair, pulling me closer as our tongues danced in a heated rhythm, and she moaned softly in my mouth. The urgency of the moment was electric as her body pressing into mine, every inch of her begging for more. “What the hell are we doing here?” she whispered breathlessly, pulling back just enough to lock eyes with me. Her lips curled into a sly smile, her chest rising and falling as she tried to catch her breath. But I did not answer because there was no need to. Instead, my hands slid down her sides, feeling the curve of her waist and the softness of her hips. She let out a soft sigh, clutching at my hair and the wall for support as I moved my mouth to her earlobe before trailing my tongue down the side of her neck. T

Sarah's POV"You call yourself a teacher? Look at this place. It's a total dump! Even a rat lives better than this! A year and a half! You’ve owed me rent for a year and a half! No shame, no conscience! If I’d known you were such a walking disaster before renting this place to you, I never would have done it. I swear, I regret that day!" My landlord’s voice echoed through the hallway, sharp and furious.I stood frozen in the doorway, my grip tightening on the chipped wooden frame. I knew this was coming—I had been ignoring his calls and texts for months—but nothing could have prepared me for the pure rage in his voice. “Seriously, what kind of teacher lives like this? Huh? What’s even the point of your job if you can’t pay rent?” He shot me a look of pure disgust, like I was the lowest of the low. "Misfortune must have made you its favourite child, Sarah."He scoffed. "What am I even saying? You are misfortune itself!""Or do you think I built this house for charity? If my childre

Author's POVWhen Alaric entered Alpha Derek's chamber, he found Alpha Derek sitting in his usual high-backed leather chair by the fireplace, a teacup in hand and his expression unreadable. The scent of Earl Grey tea wafted through the air.A guard had informed Alaric that Alpha Derek had asked to see him upon his return from visiting Sarah."You wanted to see me?” he asked.Alpha Derek glanced up, his eyes narrowing slightly."Sit,” he said, gesturing to the sofa across from him.Settling down on it, Alaric poured himself a drink from the same teapot, the rich aroma of tea rising as he lifted the cup to his lips. Before he could even settle in properly, Alpha Derek spoke. "So, how was the visit to that girl?"He watched Alaric with calculated eyes."It was fine,” Alaric replied, reaching for the teapot."Nothing out of the ordinary.”Alpha Derek arched a brow and chuckled darkly, setting his cup down with a soft click. Anderson's POVI had no idea what was happening, but ever since I drove into the college yard and stepped out of my car, all eyes had been on me.Whispers of “he’s the one,” “did you see the video?” and other fragmented gossip reached my ears as they followed me like shadows, but I could not piece together what they meant.Entering the classroom did not make things any better—it was the same thing.Tasha smirked, leaning back in her chair as she announced, “Look who’s here.”Lila, on the other hand, sat silent, her expression unreadable—a rare sight for someone who usually could not hide her emotions.Curiosity got the better of me, and I stopped in front of Tasha's chair."Alright, what's going on? Why has everyone been staring at me like I’ve got horns growing out of my head?" I asked her.Her eyes widened in disbelief, and with a teasing grin, she said, “Wait…you mean to tell me you really don’t know?”“No clue. What happened?” I replied. She raised an eyebrow and leaned in closer,

Sarah's POVThe air in my office felt heavy as Anderson sat across from me, his legs casually stretched out, completely at ease. I, on the other hand, could not shake the tension coiling in my stomach.I had told him to meet me here earlier during class, but now that we were face-to-face, I was not sure where to begin—something I had planned to say. Finally, after gathering my thoughts and taking a silent, deep breath, I spoke."Listen, Anderson. We need to stop this," I said, my voice firmer than I expected. He raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips."Stop what exactly?” he asked, leaning back in the chair."If anyone walked in here and heard that, they’d think we are dating and that you want to break up with me," he scoffed.I sighed heavily, pressing my palms flat against the desk to ground myself. “I’m serious, Anderson. We need to stop... meeting like this. People will eventually notice if we keep seeing each other, and I can’t afford any suspicions because

Not even my plans for Sarah could distract me from the one thing that had been gnawing at my thoughts all day—Lila’s threat.I told myself I would wait and see what she would do, but every time I replayed our conversation in the washroom, the unease crawled back.“You alright in there, man?" Lucas’s voice cut through the haze."Yeah, just… working off some steam," I grunted, trying to sound nonchalant. He raised an eyebrow, leaning casually against the wall with his arms crossed."Working off steam? By yourself? In the middle of the day?" Scepticism was evident in his gaze and voice."What? You think I need someone to watch me punch a bag?" I sco

Anderson's POVI didn’t sleep all night. Not a blink. Not a second.Because no matter how hard I tried, my thoughts kept drifting to Sarah. It was more than just thinking about her—it was like an invisible rope was pulling me toward her.The more I resisted, the more I felt like I was betraying a primal part of myself. My chest felt heavy, like someone had dropped a stone on it and kept tugging every time I tried to breathe. And to make it worse, every time I closed my eyes, this weird feeling would wash over me.Something felt off. I couldn’t relax, and it made me anxious. It was like the stupid mate bond was sending alarm bells through my body, making my skin tingle with this strange urgency—my muscles were tense like I was about to fight, and even my claws were itching to come out—which made no sense.I mean, I’m a lycan, not a werewolf. I’m supposed to have control over stuff like this.“Is she in danger?” I could not help but ask myself in the middle of the night, sitting up in b

"That tongue of yours,” he murmured darkly."It is one of the few things I find impressive about you.""But make no mistake, girl, if you weren’t my son’s… friend, you wouldn’t be standing here, breathing this air. You’d be in a cell, or worse.”I froze. That was not a threat. That was a promise dressed in velvet. Then he stepped forward, his aura crashing over me like a tidal wave.“Tell me,” he said, his voice turning cold and sharp, “who’s the psycho brave enough to mess with my city like this?”I squared my shoulders, trying to ignore how my heart thundered against my ribs like a war drum. This wasn't the dungeon. The stone walls and flickering torches were gone. Instead, soft morning light filtered through sheer curtains hanging over a window.I tried to lift my hand to rub my temple, but something cold and heavy pulled against my wrist. The metallic clank made my eyes snap open, and I looked down. The chain was still there. My mind was spinning, trying to find a way out of this nightmare.Axel's face twisted with rage as he pointed at me."You lying piece of shit!" he growled, his muscles tensed like a coiled spring ready to unleash violence as he lunged toward me—only to be yanked back by Alaric’s sharp command."Stop!" His voice echoed off the stone walls.Axel froze mid-step, but his eyes burnt with defiance. "Just because Dad left you in charge doesn't mean you get to order me around like some pet!"He snarled, baring teeth that seemed sharper than they should be. "I have just as much right to act as you do!"His fists clenched so tight his knuckles turned bone white. Sarah's POV There he stood—Vincent Reyes, the notorious loan shark who owned some of the underground businesses in the city. He was the owner of the loan shark company and also a werewolf. His tall figure filled the doorway.Alaric's eyes flashed with irritation. "You are late, Reyes. The moon doesn't wait for anyone, neither do I."Vincent ran a hand through his slicked-back hair, offering a slight bow that didn't quite reach his eyes. "My sincerest apologies. Had a little... situation."When Vincent's gaze finally landed on me, my heart stopped. Time itself seemed to freeze as I felt naked, as if he could see right through me. His eyes narrowed, head tilting slightly as he studied my face. This was it. He would definitely know who I was and I was dead— even though I was sure we hadn't come across each other before. And now, he was going to tell them everything—that I had killed every one of them because of the loan I was yet to pay back. My fingers dug into my palms and sweat b

SARAH'S POVI woke up to a pounding headache, my vision swimming as if I had been knocked out cold. My body felt heavy, my limbs sluggish, and every breath came in short, shaky gasps.Blurred figures stood in front of me, their voices slurring together like an incoherent murmur as I fought to sit up, forcing myself to push past the weight pressing me down.I had to wake up. I had to figure out where the hell I was.A low groan escaped my lips as I blinked against the flickering glow of torches hanging on the walls. The dim light did little to help me piece together my surroundings. The last thing I remembered was walking into the loan shark’s office, determined to uncover the murderer’s identity through a ritual.I had overheard two students whispering about it at school, and I needed answers.I was in the middle of it when everything went dark. Now, as my vision cleared, I finally saw them.Alaric sat in front of me, legs crossed, his sharp eyes watching me like a predator sizing up

"Yeah? And?”His brows knitted together, annoyance flashing in his eyes. She should be here by now,” he muttered, glancing toward Gaines."Every second we waste..." He shook his head, the moonlight catching the beads of sweat on his temple."Every second we waste is another second closer to everything falling apart. If Derek connects those dots..." His voice trailed off as he slammed his fist against a concrete pillar."We don’t have the luxury of time.” His voice was sharp, filled with mounting frustration.Gaines, leaning casually against a pillar, exhaled through his nose.He had been watching Harry’s restlessness with mild amusement, but there was an underlying tension in his stance as well.He checked his own wristwatch before res

I never really did with her or my adoptive father."Fine," I muttered, already rising to head to my room."I'll join you later.
