Fiona's POV

I sat nervously as the driver followed silently, swerving whenever the lady did. "Keep going," I muttered, watching the road come to an end.

"Ma'am, we are at a dead end," the driver said. "It seems we missed her."

"But she was here just now," I screeched furiously as the driver turned the steering wheel into the road again.

I wondered what she was doing at the correctional facility. Who was she meeting? Fortunately, I had taken a quick shot of her before entering the car. Though she still had a mask on, I could recognize her even at night.

I swiftly sent the photo to Davis, asking him to run a facial recognition. Strangely, I thought about what he had said—was there really someone else trying to subdue the Brooks family?

"We are here," the driver woke me from my thoughts. I handed him some cash and got out, walking into the house.

Isabella sat on the counter, as if waiting for my arrival. She sat straight, gazing at me for a while.

"Say what's on your mind?" I asked, pul

  • Bound by Deception.   Lightning!

Alexander's POVThere's a saying that when lightning strikes out of the blue, it leaves you stunned and scrambling. Right now, a large lightning bolt just struck me in the deepest part of my chest.I looked into the crowd, trying to find Fiona, but she was gone. The reporters flocked into the room, taking quick shots before Frederick rushed over, leading me out of the room."I can't believe this!" I exclaimed, loosening the tie stuck on my neck as I got into the car. "Take me home, now.""Yes, sir," Frederick replied, revving the engine and driving off. I called Fiona, but she didn't pick up, even after five calls. A lot of congratulatory messages popped up on my screen, and in no time, headlines were flooding the internet.I switched off the phone, thinking about what Sabrina was up to. I definitely wasn't the father of the baby. Was this the surprise she was talking about? I scoffed. She really played the game well. The car stopped at the house, and so did two others carrying Dad, h

Fiona's POV I looked over my shoulder, throwing the cape over my head to make sure I wasn't seen. The dark street helped conceal my face as I walked into the narrow passage, knocking eagerly on one of the joint doors of the bustling club.A group of naked ladies stood on the stage, dancing shamelessly as men ogled them. It was more of a market for sex toys, and I felt nauseous watching the horrid scene.A man approached upon seeing me. "You must be her," he said.I nodded. He led me to the far end of the club, into another door. I walked carefully, trying to avoid the unhealthy sexual activities going on around me. My eyes shifted to a stripper who was busy enticing hungry-looking men.The man stopped, pointing at a secluded area. "Go in," his husky voice rang in my ear as I nodded.I swallowed my fear as a lady walked out of the room, licking her fingers naughtily. I looked at her in disdain before closing the door behind me."You're here," Davis said, crossing his legs as he sat."

Alexander's POVI raged with fury as I pushed the door open, barging in with all the strength I could muster. She sat in a nightgown, with a glass of red wine in hand.I huffed, moving towards her. "This is the last time I will ask you. Who's the father of this child?""That's so rude, barging in with no notice that you’re coming," she smiled. "Take a seat.""Do I look like I'm here to do that? You slut."Her smile quickly turned to a big frown as she placed the cup on the table. "You better watch your mouth, Alexander."I scoffed. "You didn't answer my question.""Does it matter? That drink," her eyes moved to the cup on the table, "contains an abortion pill," she burst into laughter."You devil," I grabbed her hands. "You've been fucking my brother. Was this a way to prevent me from revealing the truth?""What truth?" She slapped my hands off. "It's not like you're some saint or anything. I heard you killed someone in Hong Kong. We’re the same, murderers."I gasped, my eyes raging w

Fiona's POV"Can you hear me?"A voice echoed in my ear for what felt like an eternity. My head felt as heavy as if it were encased in dried cement. I groaned weakly, struggling to open my eyes.Isabella's face was the first thing I saw as my vision cleared, hovering close to mine. "Can you see me?" she asked repeatedly."I...""Doctor, she's awake!" Isabella dashed out and quickly returned with a large man with a protruding belly. He examined my eyes with a penlight and checked my heartbeat with a stethoscope.I turned to see Dami, Tim, and John sitting nearby, their faces filled with words they had been holding back."She's alright, but we'll need to monitor her progress for a few days," the doctor reassured Isabella before leaving."Fiona," Dami cried, grasping my arms, while Tim sat at my feet, holding my legs."I can't breathe," I whispered."She's dying! Call the doctor!" Isabella wailed again."I'm alright," I managed to say louder this time, holding my head in pain. "Can you g

Fiona's POVIt's been a week since I ended things with Alexander, and now, I'm finally being discharged from the hospital. Tim, Dami, and John rushed in, giving me a group hug as I walked to the door, their sobs echoing in unison."I'll have your stuff delivered to your house tomorrow. Can't you just stay? We know it isn't true," Tim sobbed as he walked up to me.I hugged him tightly. "I'm fine, and I'm tired of Mrs. Patricia. See this as redemption for me," I laughed, patting his back.I can't believe I just quit my job. I mean, which patient would want to be treated by a low-budget whore who caused the miscarriage of another woman? Not only that, she also tried to snatch her fiancé from her.I wore a cap and a face mask as I walked out, hiding my face so no one would recognize me. Michelle stood outside, leaning on her car with a flower in hand. She handed it over. "Congratulations on pulling through. You're a strong lady, Fiona.""Thank you," I replied, climbing into the car.As sh

Alexander's POV I watched the footage clearly, the recordings Frederick had brought. It’s been over eight hours now. Maybe this was my way of comforting myself after everything that happened the previous morning.I wondered what must be going on in her head. If she was doing okay or just pretending to. But who was I to care about that? It's true what everyone says—I’m just as bad as Sabrina Parks.I paused the footage as Frederick walked in. “How’s she?” I had sent Frederick to keep an eye on Fiona.“She went out of town today.”“To?”“My men haven’t reported back yet. About what you heard your father and Mr. Parks discussing the other day,” he moved closer, “your father is involved in illegal mining.”I stared in shock. “What!”He handed over a newspaper. “A few years ago, a family was burnt alive. The publishing company that reported it went bankrupt immediately. There’s no other copy.”“So how did you get this?”“A reporter friend of mine has been keeping an eye on Michelle, the r

Fiona's POVThe warden walked me into an office. I sat for a while, nervously waiting. She entered a few minutes later, but not with Mrs. Smith. Instead, a woman in a white lab coat followed her in."Where's Mrs. Smith?" I asked."This is Mrs. Yang, the morgue officer," the warden said. "I'm so sorry to inform you that Mrs. Smith died this morning."I got up from the chair and walked slowly to the officer, who continued, "Apparently, she committed suicide. There was compression of the blood vessel and...""Wait, suicide?" My chest felt heavy as I fell back into the chair. "Why would she commit suicide?""She left this," the warden said, reaching into her pocket and handing me a note. I clutched it without looking at it. "Where's her body?"The morgue officer led me into the freezer, where her body lay naked and bare. I burst into tears, holding her cold hands."Here," the officer pointed to her neck. "The rope must have done a lot of damage. I'm sorry for your loss, Miss Fiona," she s

Fiona's POV I barged into the office, throwing my coat on the sofa. He didn’t lift a brow, reading through a pile of documents on his table.“Don’t you have a lawyer, Fiona?” He slammed the book shut, lifting his gaze.I felt tense. What was I thinking, coming here? “Are you threatening me because I ended things with you?”“Didn’t you sign the papers?” He threw the question at me.“I was in a haste…”“That’s not an excuse.” His eyes raged with fury as he walked up to me. “You breached the contract.”“Fine, fine,” I took a step back. “What do you want?”He sighed, taking a seat. “I won’t sue if you attend the event tomorrow.”“What event?” I gasped as I remembered. “The hospital’s anniversary? I’ll never do that.”He wore a smirk. “Then, you leave me with no choice.”I bit my lip. “Why should I do that? You’re getting married to Sabrina soon. You want the world to call me a husband-snatcher... wait, why do you want me to attend the event?”“Because tomorrow, I want to reveal the truth

  • Bound by Deception.   The End.

Fiona’s POVThe office was buzzing with the aftermath of the press conference. While the atmosphere had shifted from tense to victorious, Alexander seemed preoccupied, his mind clearly still processing the events of the past few days. It wasn’t until late in the afternoon that he asked to speak with me privately in his office.I followed him in, curiosity and a hint of nervousness bubbling up inside me. He closed the door behind us and retrieved a small, polished box from his desk drawer. The sight of it made my heart race, a mix of excitement and apprehension flooding my thoughts.“Fiona, there’s something I need to say,” Alexander started, his tone serious but filled with sincerity. “Through everything that’s happened, you’ve been my rock. You’ve stood by me, supported me, and believed in me. I can’t imagine my life without you.”He opened the box, revealing a breathtaking engagement ring. I gasped softly, my emotions swelling as he continued, “I want us to build a future together.

  • Bound by Deception.   A New Beginning.

Alexander’s POVThe morning after the board meeting was a chaotic flurry of activity. My phone buzzed with calls from investors and partners eager to discuss the implications of the new strategy. It was a good problem to have, but it meant I was already diving back into the deep end.As I navigated through the day’s schedule, my mind kept circling back to the board meeting. The victory had been significant, but it wasn’t complete. Sabrina and Leonard were wounded, but they would regroup and try to regain their footing. I needed to stay vigilant and one step ahead.Fiona met me at my office for a quick breakfast. She’d been a constant source of strength throughout this ordeal, and I was grateful for her presence. We settled at a small table in my office, a plate of croissants and coffee between us.“How’s your day shaping up?” she asked, breaking the silence.“Busy,” I replied, taking a sip of coffee. “I’ve got meetings lined up back-to-back. Alexander's POVThe tension in the boardroom was palpable as I waited for the meeting to begin. Today was the culmination of weeks of strategizing and maneuvering. The stakes were high, and I had to make sure that everything I had planned would come to fruition.Fiona was by my side, a silent pillar of strength. Her presence was a grounding force amidst the chaos. As the clock ticked closer to the meeting’s start time, I glanced at her and gave a reassuring nod. She responded with a supportive smile. The board members trickled in, their expressions a mix of curiosity and skepticism. Sabrina and Leonard arrived last, their air of confidence almost tangible. They were clearly expecting an easy win, but I was ready to change that.Mr. Richard, the board chairman, called the meeting to order. “Thank you all for coming,” he said, his voice steady. “We have a packed agenda today, starting with the discussion of the company’s future direction.”I took a deep breath and rose to speak, project

  • Bound by Deception.   Drawn Lines.

Alexander’s POVThe office was quiet as I waited for Jasmine. My decision to seek full custody of Jaden had been weighing heavily on me, but I knew it was necessary. The recent upheavals in my business had made it clear that Jaden needed stability—something I believed I could provide better now. When Jasmine walked in, her demeanor was guarded. The warmth she once showed me was now replaced with a cautious detachment. She took a seat across from me, her posture rigid.“Alexander,” she said, her voice polite but with an edge.“Jasmine,” I replied, trying to keep my tone even. “Thank you for coming.”Her eyes narrowed slightly. “What’s this about? I thought we were handling everything without conflict.”I leaned forward, determined to convey the seriousness of my request. “That was before I discovered the extent of the turmoil at work. With things settling down, it’s time we discussed Jaden.”Her eyes widened, and a flicker of concern crossed her face. “What about Jaden?”“I’m asking fo

Alexander’s POVSabrina was trying too hard to cover her nerves, and that confirmed what I already knew—she was scared. She thought she had everything lined up perfectly, but the meeting’s adjournment was exactly the opportunity I needed. She wasn’t as confident as she appeared.I leaned back in my chair, maintaining my composure as I watched her and Leonard. “You seem a little too eager for this meeting to end, Sabrina,” I said calmly. “You should be worried. You know better than anyone what happens when I’m given time.”Leonard chuckled, but I kept my focus on Sabrina. Her eyes flickered towards the door and back to me, sizing up her next move. She thought she had already won. Her arrogance was showing, but it was too early for her to celebrate.“You’re finished, Alexander,” she snapped, the sharpness in her voice a sign of her own doubts. “You can stop pretending that there’s a way out for you.”I tilted my head, a slow smile forming on my lips. “You underestimate me. Fiona's POVI should have known better than to expect Sabrina to speak without taking action. Her words had always been a prelude to something more, and she had truly outdone herself with Jess. The streets were frigid as I walked with the cold seeping through my coat. I glanced over my shoulder frequently, half-expecting a shadowy figure to appear. Fortunately, the streets were deserted, offering no unwelcome surprises.Earlier, Harden had called to tell me that Jess was still unconscious. Guilt gnawed at me, but nothing was more disheartening than hearing that Alexander was on the brink of being dismissed by the board. I had sent a desperate message to Mister, pleading for his help with Alexander’s predicament, but it remained unread. The building Jasmine had instructed me to visit was an older structure, its faded paint and weathered façade a stark contrast to the vibrant chaos of the city outside. I climbed the creaky stairs, trying to follow the twists and turns of the corridors u

She had a face mask on and walked over to sit on the sofa."What do you mean?" she asked, feigning ignorance."You know what I'm talking about," I said calmly as I closed the door behind me. "What was with the accusations you made on air today?""Oh, the news?" She laughed. "You should have been more specific. I just needed to get your attention since all you care about is Fiona.""That was a way of getting my attention? Didn’t we agree that I pay you to take care of my son? There’s no relationship between us."She removed the face mask, stood up, and walked over to me. "The last time I checked, there’s a relationship between us, Alexander. I am the mother of your son.""Then what do you want?" I asked, my voice rising. "Why did you have to lie to the world? Why do you keep making my life a living hell?" I took a deep breath, wary that she might have a recorder on."Did you just ask what I want?" She smil

So, you moved in?""I can explain. It...""My brother is such a fool. He lets you in but doesn't know what you've been up to," she laughed, walking to the dressing table."What do you mean?" I asked, folding my arms as I watched her pick up a lip gloss."I saw you yesterday, Fiona," she said, applying the lip gloss. "I saw you go into Alexander's house."I remained silent."You had sex, right? It was so obvious when you walked out.""Watch your mouth, Jess," I warned her for the first time."Why should I? "Would you like to come in?""You were heading out. I don’t want to waste your time," she said in a low tone.I chuckled. "No, please come in. The meeting starts in two hours. I still have enough time.""Okay," she said, following me to the door. I pushed it open, allowing her to go in first before I closed it behind me."Please, have a seat," I said, walking into the kitchen with a smile on my face. Deep down, I felt nervous. I could hear the rattling of the spoon in the cup as I filled it with tea.I walked back out. "Have this. It's good for the heart," I said. She sipped a little.
